Yeah, the reshade part will work. Put Mood Lighting just after Darker Nights in your load order.
MrWingman5 Nov 10, 2024 @ 10:27am
can be used with mood lighting?
Bare Minimum Bandit Sep 17, 2024 @ 7:24pm

Love this mod!
This mod also makes all lighting darker, which is what I actually was looking for, maybe you should add this to the description.
Sam Oct 10, 2022 @ 3:19am
its dark, even inside the bar
pnciampo May 29, 2022 @ 1:04am
Spending time with the mod, it's actually grown on me. Bravo.
pnciampo May 28, 2022 @ 10:47pm
Good idea, but this is overkill and needs work. You should be able to see your character outline at the very least. The bar signs aren't lit up and there's no ambient light from the heavenly bodies. Very cool to experience, sure, but too much.

Too dark and "shift + F2" for menue doesn't do anything for me. And to be fair, real nights aren't as dark as this preset. You literally can't see anything. It's quite unrealistic considering lighted towns, moons shining in the desert, etc. In the forest: OK, limited view, but in most Kenshi environments you could see more than just plain black.

зачем, каарл это нужно делать алоооо, в кенши и так ни черта не видна а вы еще хуже хотите сделать иди оты
Helminth Feb 10, 2020 @ 4:22am
Campfires add so much ambience now. You can also build them around your base walls and turn it into a decorative light fixture.

Thanks Articulate, glad you're enjoying it.
Articulate Llama Jan 25, 2020 @ 1:59pm
Wow, I tested this mod and yeah whatever you did to the lighting sources themselves really improves the games performance when lots of fire light sources, like a lot. It also generally looks great and makes lights themselves seem more like they are lights instead of just decorations. Great work.
Articulate Llama Jan 25, 2020 @ 8:43am
There is a penalty to firing any ranged weapon in the dark. That is why equiping your ranged units with lanterns is so handy, also mods that increase light luminosity help as well obviously, long as they increase lanterns as well.

No idea sorry. Might have something to do with ReShade and how it works.
µ Oct 29, 2019 @ 10:49am
Interesting. It seems like this mod is making my game runs much more smoothly. Any particular reason why? Just curious.
ṼṏẌṏḭḊ  [author] Aug 16, 2019 @ 8:19am
I've never used crossbows so I don't know if there is a penalty at night (which would be cool if there is).
This tweak only touches the darkness value and nothing else.
I may have a look at the editor sometime this week and see what else is there and if there is a night penalty value, I might make a couple of separate difficulty tweaks if there aren't any already available.
LoboOscuro Aug 16, 2019 @ 8:12am
@Oldman well I think they do suffer reduced crossbow skill at night but I'm fairly certain that's a vanilla mechanic?
Oldman Jul 13, 2019 @ 5:11pm
A www. .. well, at least this game isn't twitch based combat. So, even if I can't see the enemy my avatar can :P
ṼṏẌṏḭḊ  [author] Jul 13, 2019 @ 4:17pm
Nope, no penalties
Oldman Jul 13, 2019 @ 4:00pm
Do archers and turrets suffer penalties at night?
ṼṏẌṏḭḊ  [author] Jun 26, 2019 @ 5:02pm
@Timesplitter No worries, thanks for the thanks, it's much appreciated.
Timesplitter Jun 26, 2019 @ 12:39pm
Thank you for this amazing mod that I have included in "Kenshi: The World Divided". This Mod Collection has been fully tested and works perfectly. Thank you again for the great mod to add to this collection. :steamhappy: Timesplitter.

The link through that readme leads to the repository for all of the different shaders and effects that you can add to ReShade.

I think I deleted most of them from the archive I uploaded to reduce the loading time when you first start the game because it only has to load 3-4 different effects rather then the 30+ that come with ReShade.

If your game is working fine with my ReShade preset, you can just ignore the outdated warning, it's just there to tell you that there is a new version available. If you would like to update but keep the effects for Darker Nights, you just have to:
Go to reshade.me, download the newest version installer
Double click the installer, click on "select game to install to" then just select the reshade installer itself.
Tick "Direct3D 10+"
Click "Yes" if you want to download all the the available effects or "No" to continue
Then copy the "dxgi.dll" file that downloaded and replace the one in the Kenshi folder.

Nevermind, got it to work. Could not open the Readme on Windows 10 (because it was a MD-file). If you want to read that you have to convert it to pdf.

However, there is a link in the readme that leads to another repository, what does it do? Also when I start the game it said that the ReShade version is outdated. Should I update it and how?
Nevertheless this mod (with ReShade) make the game look great without affecting performance too much :).

Hey Stennix, do you mean you can’t open the rar archive? Or one of the files in the archive?
Stennix Apr 23, 2019 @ 3:37pm
Hey, What do I do with the ReShade preset after downloading. I know there is a readme, but I cannot open it.
ṼṏẌṏḭḊ  [author] Feb 17, 2019 @ 3:11pm
@Rook Hey, I have no idea what might be causing that error. I just opened and extracted both my original archive and the DropBox archive and they both extracted fine with both 7z and WinRAR. Maybe try downloading it again or opening it with a different archive manager.
Rookwood Feb 17, 2019 @ 7:48am
Hi, I cannot open your preset archive with 7zip. I believe it is corrupted. I am getting CRC chksum CD287D1A.

@Tiny Rick I don't know if you still need help seeing as that was an old comment, but if you installed it correctly these are the files you need to get rid of:
dxgi.dll
dxgi.ini
kenshi.ini

And one folder:
reshade-shaders\

@Komrad Thanks, glad you like it.

@ourhealthmatters I can't play anything without it anymore lol, too many games are totally desaturated these days
OHM Feb 3, 2019 @ 2:15pm
Thanks for the Reshade tip! I remember using SweetFX back in the days...
Vzn Jan 25, 2019 @ 10:34pm
I have added this mod to my collection "Komrad's Kenshi Kollection" for the great addition to gameplay it provides, thank you to your contribution to this community and for keeping this great game fresh and interesting.
agris Jan 1, 2019 @ 4:01pm
FYI, mod works well without Reshade - the darkness is dialed in well.
JimmyJimJames Dec 26, 2018 @ 10:24pm
How do i get rid of the Reshade? i deleted all the files that came in it,even tried reinstalling the game but its still there. Took to big of a FPS loss with it :/
ṼṏẌṏḭḊ  [author] Jul 19, 2018 @ 5:23pm
@Castania Shift+F2 brings up the config menu. In the bottom box, scroll down to tonemap and lower the gamma to whatever suits you more
Project Danny Jul 19, 2018 @ 11:15am
i like this but its way way to dark to the point i cant even see 5 feet infront of me... i dont mind dark but not this dark sorry... any way to make it a little brighter?
ṼṏẌṏḭḊ  [author] Jan 27, 2018 @ 3:15pm
I just tested the rar on my other pc with a fresh Kenshi install and it worked fine.
there are 3 files and a folder in the rar:
dxgi.dll
dxgi.ini
kenshi.ini
reshade-shaders\

make sure that you put those files in the same folder as kenshi_x64.exe
Injen Jan 27, 2018 @ 2:31pm
i'll try, thanx u man.

upd: btw, without installing ReShade ur rar preset not working...
ṼṏẌṏḭḊ  [author] Jan 27, 2018 @ 2:20pm
If you are using my preset, Shift+F2 brings up the configuration menu. The bottom box has all of the values in it, tweak saturation in tonemap and vibrance to however you like would like it.
Injen Jan 27, 2018 @ 10:37am
but... too hight saturation for me... where i can decrease it?
Injen Jan 27, 2018 @ 9:23am
awesome, dude!
