@Twisted:
Unlikely, I used a skill book earlier today without a problem. Is it possible you've read them before on your current character? You only get the bonus once, and it's hard to remember all the names of the different books.

Has anyone had issues with skill books not working at all? I started a new game the other day. I now have 6 skill books in my inventory, none of them seemed to do anything when read. Could this be a bug in this mod?

I had to use this mod, because the new and improved version had a bug that if I put a Skill Book in a bookshelf and took it, a copy goes to my inventory, the book image desappears, but the book itself stills in the bookshelf inventory, this only happens to skill books, so I think the problem is with the mod.

thx for leaving the old version up, auto loot was bothersome until i found out you added the script

@>Fuse< this IS the original, you can get the new one still, and insta-loot sucks, you know what insta-loot in the mages guild library is considered? (stealing)
Fuse Feb 25, 2012 @ 12:50pm
Wish the original was left as it was and this were the intsa-loot, but oh well...

@BerielNefzen Every skill increase goes towards leveling up. So if you really want to focus on being a warrior/rogue than you can avoid gaining some xp from reading magic related skill books so to speak :D. It is kind of helpful also if you want to have a collection of the skillbooks.

I'm kind of confused, how is it damaging to my character to read a book that's not related to the build i'm pursuing ? I'm playing a Warrior/Rogue, what is the effect of the books I read on magic, or to take a teaching from a mage teacher ?

Everyone who had normal Improved Skill Books got updated to the "pickup without reading" version, is it possible you are/were still running that version? If so, running the mod on this page instead should revert to the "read from worldspace" version, just don't run both at the same time.

For some reason this mod was working great for a while, but now (for me) doesn't allow me to read the book without picking it up. Pressing E just puts it directly into my inventory, I'd have to manually open it and read it to get the perk. Kind of annoying, but worth it- without this mod, I wouldn't even know which books to read!

great mod! I always hated accidentally reading a heavy armor skill book when playing a pure mage, or magic skill when playing a warrior build.
