Serenata Immortale
Just an idea :>)
music = {
name = "MythFox - Oriana."
- Bad news: the problem persists, all smeems corrects but still there are cracks in the sound (only in game) >> "science and religion" is a nice example of this
- Good news: I take that songs to check all was right ( it was) and tried to convert to mp3 and then to ogg again and IT WORKS and the filesize is lesser than original !!
Really I don't know what its the cause but this could be the solution a doble MP3 > OGG conversion
>>>> Your files are 48 kHz and THEY MUST BE 44.1 KHz <<<<<
Thats the porblem:
From: https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Music_modding
>>> Next, put music files in Ogg Vorbis format (.OGG) in this same "music" folder. If you have music files in a different file format, convert them to Ogg Vorbis (44.1 Khz) first <<<<
I can confirm lonelyknight ...
- using your mod-music inside the game -> cracks!
- using your music files outside the game -> no cracks and fine quality
Now I ve disabled the music inside the game and using an external player ... works for me :-)
Are the files in 44.1 KHz bitrate?
>>> If you have music files in a different file format, convert them to Ogg Vorbis 44.1 Khz (mod music guide)
At this point, there is nothing further I can do, and it may just be that this music pack is not for you. It may be that:
1) You're either hearing something that only people sensitive to a certain range of frequencies can hear.
2) Either the music, game files, etc. are corrupted.
3) There is something going on with your specific computer or an issue/bug that only affects 1-2% of people.
4) You're hearing something that isn't there.
So at this point, I can't keep chasing ghosts that I can't hear here. If someone can put a song from SEMP in a program like Audacity and can show me where these artifical peaks are, or if someone can record a sample of the audio from their game in which these distortions are appearing, I can take another look.
I really don't know what to tell you here. None of this is intended to be rude or dismissive, but let me tell you what I've done in response over the last couple of weeks:
- I completely re-downloaded new versions and re-converted to in many cases. I've found the highest quality versions of each song I could, and the uploaded versions are all 320kbps/48000hz.
- I have taken each song and put it into Audacity, looking for any valleys/peaks that would indicate crackling/popping, especially during quiet sections of the music. There are *none*.
- I have asked people who have not downloaded the mod previously to download SEMP and listen for these distortions; so far I have not heard one report that confirms these distortions.
- I do not hear anything like you are describing, and judging by the 2k+ subs and 75+ favorites, the overwhelming majority don't either.
CONTINUED
But the clicking is eating at my sanity. It's the first time I hear "clicks" in Stellaris music mod packs, by the way. Try to ask guys who made fresh top music packs, maybe they can help you out.
Great collection, but many cracks in the songs I've played so far. Its like lissening to a song collection from the 80s on tape or record player ... but its a SiFi-Game.
Sorry to say, that this is a NoGo for me.
If you are able to fix that quality issue, I would love to use your mod again.
Cheers
Any music suggestions, btw?
-Added 2 new songs.
Please let me know if this has helped with the issues some people have been encountering with the music quality.
It might not be you 'not hearing it', happened intermittently to Apple and SanDisc back in 2008, which is why it came to mind. Try adjusting it up a notch to 224kb/s.
I looked at that song, and it looks like you're onto something. The original file was 320kbps, but when I converted it to .ogg, it downsampled to 192. Personally, I can't tell the difference at all, but I'm going to re-convert the files and make sure it keeps the 320kbps, and try to find other files for the ones that are lower quality.
@lesmurf I couldn't find high-quality versions for the Angels and Demons soundtrack, but I'll keep looking for those. And thanks. :)
2.1) Already checked. Thought at first it was something going wrong with the headset, but it's just the music layer. I will double-check my end, but given it's only a handful of songs from this mod causing the issue, not my music playlist, series, vanilla music, vanilla sounds, nor even music from other mods that are having issue, that seems unlikely. More below.
2.2) Redundant response about not hearing about it.
3) What even, mate. You asked for feedback.
My considerations:
What codecs are you using, and what bitrates? "Look to the Stars" would be a good startpoint. Vorbis by any chance?
1. The files Steam downloaded were corrupted or in some way bad - try un-subbing, and re-subbing.
2. It is local to your computer. I haven't heard anything from anyone else about this.
3. You are hearing something others aren't. I know some people sometimes hear distortions in music that 99% of other people don't hear, and if that's the case, I can't really do much for you here.
If none of this help and you want to keep using the mod for other songs, simply disable the songs you don't want using the in-game music interface.
