Yes, this mod only requires vanilla Skyrim and update ver. 1.8+. DLCs are only required for crafting items mentioned in the book.

My fault, forgot to rename the book. It used to be called "The Armorer's Challenge', but after update it is called "The Smithing Workbook".

If the mod is activated, the book should be on the book shelf near the alchemy lab.
