What should I do if the game just crashes when I turn on the mod, or because the build was abandoned, there are no more options to play with this mod?

I'm sorry guys, but I won't probably update this mod anymore. At this point, I haven't played DST for more than 3 years, and the devs have changed the worldgen code so much, that just maintaining this mod has become almost a job by itself. RIP Megarandom, this was a fun ride <3 and thank you all guys, this was my first mod and I didn't expect it to be so well received

I have no other mods installed and the MacTuskCity is still appearing. I'm confused on if this setpiece is part of the vanilla game or if it's added by this mod.

hey is there a mod or addon to this that can make it so that caves bosses spawn in the overworld as well as making the ocean islands connect to the mainland? (moon quay moon island and pearls island)

So ive been trying to find it all this time in the mods folder, and can not find it at all since it doesnt seem to download rather it seems to be a cloud mod. which is knda annoying to solve this issue of the MacTusk City spawning

idea: mode where there are 4 seperate islands, connected by bridges (similar to the ones in Adventure Mode). each island has it's own biomes, resources, set pieces, and mobs (no two islands have the same one, i.e. only one biome can have spider dens). the bridges have all sorts of threats just like the ones in Adventure Mode, and you have to cross them if you need different resources. lunar island is on the island farthest from spawn btw

this could also happen with caves and ruins. ruin sinkhole would be farthest from cave sinkhole, and ancient gateway would be farthest from ruins sinkhole

Developers, I have a request for you.
Please create a regular world and caves generation template together.
I know! There is already such a mod, but it is poorly made and has many different generation errors, but you can make a good template that will allow players with a bad processor to play with the caves.

There are settings "MacTuskTownOption" and "MacTuskCityOption", try setting them to 0. They are hidden settings, you need to edit them directly in modinfo.lua (you can set them in the modoverrides.lua if you are on a dedicated server).
That said, I haven't seen the MacTuskCity spawn myself in-game, I realize there is a bug in my mod options and it is undefined, but it seems the default value is 0, so most likely this comes from an other mod.

Well, Ive got a way - when my mod in >Mods is changed, changes are not working. After making like 60 worlds, I finally fix this by changing options in mods while creating world....

Ive got caves and ruins disabled, and still getting them at a surface every time, what Im doing wrong? :/

And yes you can enable caves in a world with Megarandom, it will work and the caves will be unaffected by whatever settings you have selected. The Megarandom settings basically only apply to the Overworld. So you can disable caves in Megarandom options and enable caves in the game option and it will give a normal world.

You mean disable* cave generation right? Yes, that's possible, go to mod settings, and disable Caves and Ruins. (Also disable "Cave setpieces on surface" don't remember how it's called but I think it's off by default anyway)

@Rquest According to its mod page comments "Green World" is bugged and no longer maintained. I will give it a try some day since I used to like this mod but most likely the problem is not on my end

I could get it to work with cherry forest and tropical experience but adding anything else caused the world to not gen

Just tried it twice with cherry forest and it worked. Can you please share the error log, and/or the settings that are needed to reproduce the crash. (Ideally, only use Megarandom + Cherry Forest and see if you still have the crash, otherwise there must be an other mod causing conflicts. Also please share which settings you have set in both mods config)

Not sure exactly what you want me to do. I don't speak Chinese so I can't translate myself, also I don't know how to translate modinfo.lua without impacting English speakers.

The best you can do is to copy modinfo.lua and translate the strings (for example with Google Translate) then host your own copy of this mod. (I give you permission, but this will be a pain for you to maintain)..

Alternatively if you want me to paste a link with Chinese instructions in the introduction, I can do that.

@blahpers I added a TODO to make the light bulbs on overworld optional (and maybe I put some other stuff too). Can't tell when I'll do it though, right now I don't even have the game installed.

@blahpers The screenshots date from 2017, back then there were less biomes, no lunar island, and the world generation algorithm was a bit different. It's probably not possible to get a clean circle anymore (especially due to the island which will take ton of space).

Yeah the worldgen is basically a bandaid built over Don't Starve original system, and the key code is probably inside Voronoi* routines, which are not accessible from Lua, I don't think it's possible to do more than what I did unless you're really good at hacking. If you have a LOT of time you could write an entirely new generator using the map tile editing functions (check the Map Editor mods) but even after that performance will probably suck.

Having more biomes is rather simple on paper (just add more tasks/rooms), but you'll likely still get this petal-like shape despite making a circular graph, it tends to happen more when there are too many connections / biomes. So unfortunately probably not possible.

Update: Changing size to "automatic" helped. Any other size made the map revert to a petal-like state with large biomes rather than a dense, varied structure.

It'd be cool to have the same individual biome size but just . . . more of them? As in a large map doesn't just make the biomes larger, it instead makes more of them. I halfassed tweaking the worldgen to do this, but . . . well, DST worldgen is weird, much weirder than something like Minecraft, and it'd difficult to manipulate without completely tossing the entire story system and/or Voronoi generator. Which I'm kinda considering doing now.

Try as I might, I can't seem to get a map quite as dense and circular as the thumbnail, even after taking into account the lost space due to Lunar Island and such. Maybe it requires other biome mods as well? Still, this is a vast improvement over the usual "flower-petals" map.

Not big on light bulbs spawning in one of the forest biomes with no option to disable, but I can fix that with a quick loop+delete on creating the world if it bothers me enough.

If you set "Caves" to "Enabled", you'll have at least Toadstool and Stalker. If you set "Ruins" too, you'll get the Ancient Guardian and maybe the Ancient Fuelweaver if you set to "Too many" (but I haven't tested for a while). I didn't include the new bosses and I don't think they'll spawn in overworld without me doing an update, but let me know after you gave a try. (Note: new bosses will still spawn normally in their normal worlds eg. Toadstool in cave or Beaver on Forest)
