"I'm correct in assuming that its not possible to change the size of the commander minimap and play on official servers? "
Not only can you not play on official servers, you also can not play on any server that hasn't whitelisted that change. Changing the size or position would require editing the .lua files and when entering a game those files are checked for consistency. If the server sees anything it doesn't recognize it'll kick you.

I use "minimap colored players" and it looks like the screenshots. Maybe the two mods conflict?

Oh yes! thank you it works! I'm correct in assuming that its not possible to change the size of the commander minimap and play on official servers?

About the minimap in fps view i both installed "pewpew's Minimap Mod" and "Minimap Colored Players". PewPew's only works in Training->Explore mode and only on the big map(when pressing C my player icon will be green).
In any case the player icon on the minimap is still a brownish yellow outline in the minimap, and Blue on the big map when playing on servers. Is urs any different?

If you only want the marine commander HUD do the following:
Download thees two files https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B1vm8liNHTHDMm9mQW1rNDRyVGc/edit

go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\natural selection 2\ns2\ui

Make a backup of marine_commander_scanlines.dds and marine_commander.textures.dds

Drag the two files you downloaded in to the folder.

That should do it. Tell me if you have any problems.

Domiel: Right below the header picture of this mod there's a collection I've made called "The mods I use." One of the mods there will make players on the minimap easier to see.
I'll work on removing some things from the marine commander HUD now.

Im using the version u made for Butterbricks and its awsome! I hate the commander minimap for humans though, too much clutter. Would it be possible to make it look like the alien minimap? Or maybe something different yet? Also the Arrow indicating the player is really hard to see on the human minimap, would it be possible to change its colour?

Precisely

Big problem with moving elements around - it requires modifying the lua files, which will fail a consistency check.
nakadashi  [author] Nov 14, 2012 @ 12:55am
Hey, no worries, I agree with you! I really want to move the HP & Armor closer to the crosshair, and make it turn red when you're under 30% HP or something. I also want the damage numbers to show up on the HUD and stay there instead of showing up on the screen and then disappearing. While probably doable, as I said, you wouldn't be able to play the game. I've been meaning to do a complete prototype for a while now, but you know, I'm lazy and have porn to watch.

Sorry the first sentence of my first post come off in a weird way. I love the clean look, but I also feel like the text is cumbersome, and I was just trying to say that I don't think larger text (to a limit) takes away from the minimalism.

Thank you for making this HUD :]
nakadashi  [author] Nov 14, 2012 @ 12:44am
I know how to change the position of the HUD and I want to do it, but the files you change to do that are consistency-checked when you join a server. That means you won't be able to play on regular servers if I change the positioning / size of the HUD. Right now I want to give UWE a few weeks to take care of more urgent things, then I'll contact them about whitelisting my mod.

To Jekt: I've been trying to find the arm and weapon icons, I don't see why they would be different from any other HUD-element I've changed, but I just haven't been able to find them. I'm going to keep looking, if you want the change asap you can look anywhere in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\natural selection 2\ns2\ for the icons, which *should* end in .dds.

Hello, you have a subscriber here but I have one major criticism : just because it is minimal does not mean you need to have it so small. With no clutter on the screen I'd love to see my health and armor at a glance. Is there a way to make this text bigger?

I use a minimal TF2 HUD and while very clean the few numbers there are stand out and make it very easy to see. There are some good TF2 huds, if anyone ever needs any inspiration.
nakadashi  [author] Nov 11, 2012 @ 4:06am
I uploaded the edited .dds just for you :)
First, make sure you've got miniHUD deactivated. Start the game, deactivate it and restart the game.

Download this file: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1vm8liNHTHDSTFVVVlacWI1eUE/edit?pli=1

Now go to this folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\natural selection 2\ns2\ui (or your version of it)

Make a backup of marine_HUD_minimap.dds

Put the downloaded file file in that folder.

Profit! (Hopefully, I haven't tried it myself. If something goes to hell, just restore the old file and tell me and I'll try again.)

minimap is awesome, but IMO this is ruined by taking too much out... can you make one with just mini map??
Jekt Nov 8, 2012 @ 10:25pm
In response to your comment on my profile:

I mean the arms lab upgrade icons. When you upgrade armor / weapons you get large grayscale icons on the right of the screen indicating the armor level.

Here is what it used to look like a few beta builds ago (221).

Much cleaner and compact imo. Something like this would be nice.

Nice

Yeah they really should put in a more Slimline HUD like there is in TF2 or make it an option.
nakadashi  [author] Nov 4, 2012 @ 4:16am
I've seen the outline but I'm not sure how I would remove it. I'm going to take a look and see what I can do, I think it's annoying too. I haven't even thought about the arms lab icon, but it shouldn't be a problem to change/fix, if my designer skills are up to snuff that is.
Jekt Nov 3, 2012 @ 10:19pm
Theres still an animated outline around the health and armor, that and making the arms lab icons look better would make this pretty much perfect.
