I could see this being called the "Hecktic HECU" or something

I created the texture by using a existing felt texture and then appling posturization and cutout to it in photoshop, I then used curves to change the colour balance and greyscaled and applied the soft light layer filter. It's supposed to be a kind of shading rather than design (fake ambient occlusion)

Where did you get camo from? The texture looks more like worn felt to me. Dunno what you're smoking.

Alright constructive comments, I think if this is your first big modeling project you did a fine job, however your textures leave a lot to be desired. It looks like you were going for a camo type pattern but it just wasn't a high enough resolution (or it was but was improperly streched) so it comes out looking muddy and a mistake more than camo.

Also, as it stands, it does look like a Bill's hat simply because almost all military berets look the same, sad but true. Making it a Caubeen or heck maybe even just having it shift so it lays to the otherside would basically break that.

All in all I think this is a nice model and hope to see more work from you in the future.

Yes, I have heard of the bills. And I do understand that it looks like a bills to some people, although I respect people's opinions of it, I get that it looks like a bill's hat, just like the El Jefe and Frenchman's Beret and Bills hat look all alike.

The Bills hat comments are getting a bit frustrating, It's the first 3D model I've ever made, and I just wanted to model a beret, not really to resemble what was already in the game. It was after playing Black Mesa that I thought to design it's layout similarly to the HECU commander's hat and the Red Beret hat. I value peoples opinions, but just because it's the same type of hat as a Bill's Hat doesn't necessarily make it a Bill's Hat.
