BALLISTA LEVEL 11 REWORK

Reworked the level 11 bonus for Ballistas:
- Reduced the overall projectiles fired to 1
- Projectiles now explodes on impact with enemies
- Increased damage to compensate for the reduced projectile count


EPIRUS BOW REWORK

Reworked the Epirus Bow:
- Projectiles will now always travel the same distance
- Overall rate of fire is slower, but attack rate and rate of fire upgrades are stronger
- The weapon will now alternate between shooting left and right, rather than being random


3 NEW ENEMIES

Stone Anubite (unit)
Variant of the Guardian Anubite with higher hitpoints and slightly higher damage, drops a yellow soul on death (10 gold)

Spitting Serpent (unit)
Variant of the Serpent that spits venom, flees when you get close to them, can be summoned by Wadjets, drops a white soul on death (5 gold)

Vengeful Minion (unit)
Variant of Minions with higher hitpoints and slightly higher damage, but lower speed, can be summoned by Mummy Viziers, drops a white soul on death (5 gold)


GAMEPLAY

Odysseus's bonus now activates at 99% hitpoints and above, rather than at 100% hitpoints


Further reducing Pestilence's radius to combat issues of it not dealing damage when many objects are nearby, boosting its damage to compensate

Did a performance pass on projectile trailing VFXs, reducing their overall particle count by about 75%, without compromising visual fidelity

- Fixed an instance where 2 Flaming Weapons power ups could spawn close together
- Fixed Ballista level 11 Explosions not receiving bonus damage from the armory offense loadout bonus

INFINITE LEVELLING

You can now level up indefinitely, level 50 is still the max, so you won't be able to get more than +50% damage from your special as Arkantos, but you can still accumulate XP to trigger on level up effects like Circe turning humans into pigs, or the special loadout options like Supremacy or Golden Apples


ACQUIRE BONUSES FROM OTHER HEROES

Added a major god statue that allows you to spend Blessings and Favor to buy bonuses from other heroes, not all are present, but the majority are.

The bonuses vary in price based on the effect.


ATTACK WAVE VARIATIONS

Most attack waves now have a variation with different enemy types and quantities, making each wave less predictable.


ENYO'S BOW REWORK

- Overhauled Enyo's Bow to now have a 15% chance to fire critical shots, which shoot double projectiles and deal +50% damage
- Updated upgrades to include critical shot chance bonuses and consolidated projectile count and damage upgrades
- Overall attack rate is slightly slower, but damage per shot has increased


HERO CHANGES

Changed the special bonus for God Arkantos to make it more unique compared to regular Arkantos.

Freyja

- Special: Charm enemies on level up, preventing them from attacking you for a short duration

Garmr
- Starting Weapon: Gjallarhorn
- Bonus: +5 Hitpoints and +5% damage when killing a boss
- Special: Summons a boss to fight every 10 levels

Kastor
- Starting Weapon: Poseidon’s Trident
- Bonus: Increased stats when near a Relic, radius increases every 10 levels
- Special: +1 Blessing every 5 levels

Krios
- Starting Weapon: Promethean Fire
- Bonus: Has a Fire Siphon ally, +20% damage and area size every 10 levels
- Special: +10% Fire Siphon fire and Promethean Fire lifespan every 10 levels

Lazer Bear
- Starting Weapon: Lazer Eyes
- Bonus: +50% Soul pickup range
- Special: Heal 1.0 hitpoints for every 25 souls collected, +1.0 hitpoints healed every 10 levels

Uber Arkantos
- Starting Weapon: Bolts of Zeus
- Bonus: Rapidly heal and Level up when killing a boss
- Special: -0.3 Second Bolts of Zeus recharge time every 10 levels


2 NEW WEAPONS

Gjallarhorn
- 1 minute recharge time weapon that deals damage to all nearby enemies and boosts damage of all weapons for a short duration
- Upgrades include: damage boost, damage boost duration and recharge time

Lazer Eyes (currently exclusive to Lazer Bear)
- Replaces Enyo's Bow
- Fires fast moving beams of red light at the closest enemy
- Upgrades include: damage, projectile count, rate of fire and recharge time


2 NEW POWER UPS

Prosperity
- -40% Gold costs for 15 seconds
- Duration increases with Ring of the Nibelung temple upgrade

Supremacy
- Increases weapon attack rate and reduces recharge/respawn times for 15 seconds

GAMEPLAY

Added additional rare spawn locations of pick ups that can spawn multiple pickups in close proximity.


Added an ultra option to the enemy quantity setting in the settings menu that significantly increases the amount of enemies that can spawn.


Changing a few stats for a few weapons. Poseidon’s Trident single target damage was feeling far too high, Light of Olympus and Dust Devils were feeling a bit too weak and Radiance damage bonuses felt too low for its slow attack rate.

VISUALS

Added a small delay until the death cinematic plays when your hero dies, so that you can more easily see what killed you, reducing confusion for certain deaths

Ballistas and Converted Units now receive visual effects like Flaming Weapons and Rage just like Heroes do

Dust Devils will now turn into Fire Tornadoes whilst Flaming Weapons power up is active

Visual improvements for Book of Wololo conversion VFXs, Dust Devils, Fiery Caduceus explosions, Pestilence and Volatile Wadjets (fast moving snakes that explode)

The level now has subtle variations of rock formations, trees and other objects that randomise between each run

Heroes will now play an animation as you cycle through them in the hero select screen


AUDIO

Guardians will now make a sword on wood sound when taking damage from pierce attacks like Pestilence or Enyo's Bow

Slightly increased the volume of the critical hitpoints sound (the sound that plays when entering low hitpoints)


OPTIMISATIONS

Performance improvements across multiple systems, most notably: the power up respawn system and enemy spawning system, especially when enemy spawn rate was set to high


FIXES

- Fixed Arkantos God having a slightly longer recharge time for Light of Olympus than normal
- Fixed Ballista explosions (level 11 upgrade), Fiery Caduceus, Meretseger's Venom and Pestilence dealing damage to flying units
- Fixed Dust Devils, Forks and Poseidon’s Trident not receiving bonus damage against myth units
- Fixed Fiery Caduceus projectiles damaging and killing other projectiles such as: Light of Olympus and Catapult shots

1 NEW HERO

Forkboy
- Starting Weapon: Fork
- Bonus: +20% level up rate
- Unique: +7% Fork attack rate every 10 levels


2 NEW WEAPONS

Fork (currently exclusive to Forkboy)
- Fires multiple giant forks either side of you (much like Poseidon's trident, but fires more diagonally) that skewer enemies
- Upgrades include: attack rate, damage, fork size and projectile count

Bolts of Zeus
- Strikes enemies down with multiple area damaging lightning bolts every 8 seconds
- Upgrades include: area size, damage, recharge time and projectile count
- Also receives increased projectile count from the Ankh of Ra relic


GUNGNIRE REWORK

- Gungnire projectiles will now rain down from the sky instead of shooting into the ground and then jumping to a target
- Replaced +15% projectile speed with +20% damage against myth units
- Level 11 upgrade now doubles the projectile count, rather than adding another volley of projectiles


PESTILENCE UPGRADE CHANGES

- Pestilence has had a problem ever since Mythology Survivors came out which is that if too many enemies and/or souls were in the radius of the attack, it would deal 0 damage, there's not much that can be done about this as it seems to be a qwerk of the game's engine
- To help this issue, the amount of radius upgrades is going down (as the problem is multiplied if the radius is bigger) and the base attack rate is going up, the problem will still persist to an extent however


BALANCE

Chariot Archers, Slingers and Siege Towers converted by the Book of Wololo will now deal significantly more damage to both human soldiers and myth units, as they previously dealt very little.


Added blessings to Chiron's bonus so they now get +3 favor and blessings at the start of the game.

Anvil of Hephaestus offence bonus has kind of made the Armory offence bonus obsolete, increasing the bonus damage as a result to make it a more viable option for early and late game.

Increasing the explosion delay for enemy catapult explosions slightly so that slow moving characters like Folstag and Polyphemus aren't as harshly punished by these attacks.

Reduced the amount of units/weapons attached to the survivor slightly, improving CPU performance by a tiny amount

OPTIONAL MODIFIERS

Added 5 optional modifiers to the settings menu that change the game in drastic ways:

Brittle: +100% Damage dealt and recieved
Doomed: +3% Enemy hitpoints for every wave you survive
Enraged: +50% Enemy myth unit hitpoints and +20% myth unit speed
Hyper: -50% Wave duration, -25% gold costs and +25% level up rate
Rush: +30% Hero and enemy speed


EXPANDED SETTINGS

Added a new setting to modify how fast you level up from gathering souls and coins:

Low = -20%
Normal = +0%
High = +20%
Very High = +40%


Added a new setting to change between 2 different game modes:

Defeat Titan: defeat the Titan that appears after wave 30 to end the game.
Endless: Fight endlessly against enemies with no end in sight.


Enemy quantity and starting resources now have 1 additional option each, very high for enemy quantity and massive for starting resources.


EXPANDED LOADOUTS

Added 4 new loadout options (1 for each category):

Second Wind: Rapidly heal after reaching critical hitpoints, once every 2 minutes
Anvil of Hephaestus: Starting weapon starts at level 4
Cornucopia: Start with many pickups around you
Favorable Worshipper: +1 Favor and blessing every 10 levels


BUY AND SELL RELICS

Added a new godpower (Offer Relic) that allows you to target a Relic and send it to the gods for 1 blessing and 150 gold. Blessings are a new resource that replaces wood and is used for buying new Relics. You can buy Relics from the Temple for 2 blessings, this new mechanic will allow you to sell Relics you don't like/need and then have a chance of getting Relics that'll be more useful to you.

You will also receive 1 blessing every 10 levels and start the game with 1 blessing by default.


GAMEPLAY

Added an XP indicator, takes the place of the food resource, so you'll now be able to track how much XP is required for your next level up in the bottom left of the screen.


Added a new red tint and heartbeat sound effect when reaching critical hitpoints (below 30% hitpoints).


Difficulty increases by 1 after defeating the Titan on endless mode, this should help make fights after wave 30 more interesting and challenging.


Reduced the length of all death animations for enemies to help with weapons like Poseidon's Trident continuing to collide with enemies as they are dying, reducing the length of death animations will reduce the amount of times your projectiles hit dying enemies, rather than living ones.


Minions will no longer spawn when difficulty gets high enough as they aren't very difficult enemies and just take up performance after a certain point.


Improving a few loadout bonuses that seemed weak: Armory and Rage have a more potent effect and in the case of Rage, it has less of a harsh requirement for when it activates. Renewal is also getting a boost as it felt like the weakest defense bonus compared to all the others.

Increasing the base recharge time and reducing the potency of recharge time upgrades for Light of Olympus slightly as the weapon is attacking a bit too quickly for how much area damage it deals. Also Increasing the base recharge time of Meteor slightly for the same reason and increasing the delay between each meteor spawning to help fix issues with the terrain getting deformed in strange ways when multiple meteors explode near each other.

VISUALS

Added a new button to the settings menu that allows you to change the current weather, the options are: clear, fog, rain and snow.

Kronny's healing bonus visual effect is now purple instead of green.

Minor update to recover's icon.

Updated the Rage effect to be slightly bigger and less transparent.

Updated all weapon and upgrade descriptions with colour coding to highlight keys words and make them easier to read.


AUDIO

Added a more impactful sound for Poseidon's Trident when hitting enemies.

Reduced the volume of the "siege tower death" and "titan punch" sound sets slightly.

Removed hit sounds for Mjolnir and Radiance.

- Fixed Athena not receiving damage reduction against Golden Crocodile projectiles from her bonus
- Fixed Flaming Weapons power up sometimes playing its sound effect twice
- Fixed High Priest having no sounds for taking damage or dying

BALANCE

Promethean Fire is over performing right now, reducing some bonuses from the upgrades, in the case of reducing the fires lifespan, this will help performance.

Changing some upgrades around for Gungnire, I've always considered this weapon to be a 'giant killer' (something that deals with high hitpoint enemies like mini bosses really well), so I'm switching out a projectile count upgrade for a damage upgrade to make it better at single targets, rather than crowd control. Reducing the projectile count will also improve performance somewhat.

Reducing some of Reginleif's base stats whilst also increasing her special bonus considerably, projectile speed on it's own has not been a particularly great stat, so with this update, any bonus that gives bonus projectile speed, will not also increase the damage of those projectiles as well (only weapons effected by projectile speed will receive the damage increase, weapons like Pestilence or Promethean Fire won't).

Added a new loadout system, this can be interacted with by clicking the loadout button on the left hand side of the hero select screen.

Your loadout can be customised with 4 different categories of bonuses: defense, offense, utility and special, you can select 1 bonus from each category and there are currently 4 options for each category.

- Defense bonuses improves your hero's survivability
- Offense bonuses improves your hero's damage
- Utility bonuses provides bonus resources and other miscalleneous benefits
- Special bonuses give additional effects to leveling up

SETTINGS

Added a new settings system, this can be interacted with by clicking the settings button on the right hand side of the hero select screen.

You can now customise the difficulty of enemies, the amount of enemies, their spawn rates and the resources you start with, allowing you to tailor your experience to what you want. Here's the full list of parameters than can be changed:

GAMEPLAY

Titans can no longer be frozen by the frost power up as it was far too strong.

Bosses now have a burgundy team colour so they can be better distinguished from regular enemies.

Improved the attack intervals for Tremor Hammer as it increases with duration bonuses.

Reduced the lifespan of fire balls from the Fiery Caduceus so that they are more likely to hit enemies, especially at close range.

Survivors will no longer automatically run away when taking damage when idle.

Wadjets converted by the Book of Wololo will now shoot projectiles that explode in proximity to enemies, making them a much better unit when converted.

Slightly increased the amount of xp required to level, very miniscule amount for early levels, most notable for levels 40 to 50, but still not a massive increase. I've made this change as levelling felt a bit too quick and getting all your desired weapons and upgrades caused the late game to be too easy most of the time.

Changing some gold that a few enemies drop as it was giving far too much gold for the difficulty of these enemies or for the wave they appeared on. In the case of Phoenix, I've increased their gold dropped, due to their rarity.

Increasing the Hitpoints of all units slightly (much more so for mini bosses) as the new loadout system allows for higher damage output and improved survivability, making the game much easier. Here's a few notable changes:

Increasing the favor and gold costs for a few upgrades, with the new settings and loadouts it's possible to get bonus gold and favor, so adjusting some upgrade costs to compensate, the following upgrades have been effected:

Reducing the base damage of Fiery Caduceus, to make it a bit less effective in the early game as it seems too strong at the moment, but increasing the damage bonuses from upgrades to maintain it's late game usefulness.

1 NEW WEAPON

Meretseger's Venom
- Fires multiple inaccurate projectiles one after the other either side of your survivor, that explode on contact with enemies, dealing poison damage over time for a few seconds in a small area.
- Upgrades include: area poison lifespan, damage, projectile count, recharge time and poison size.
- Also receives increased projectile count from the Ankh of Ra relic.

4 NEW ENEMIES

Heavy Siege Tower (unit)
Variant of the Siege tower with higher damage and hitpoints, drops a red soul on death (25 gold)

High Priest (unit)
A variant of the priest with much higher hitpoints, slightly increased range, drops a yellow soul on death (10 gold)

Son of Osiris (unit)
High damage, high hitpoint ranged unit, drops a red soul on death (25 gold)

Son of Osiris (mini boss)
The Son of Osiris will spawn on wave 25, high damage ranged unit, drops a relic on death

VISUALS

Added 3 new lighting presets.

Added a sparkle effect to souls when they are gathered.

Added a glow effect to campfires, fire balls, torches and meteor explosions.

The map in general has recieved some environment beautification.

Increased the visual fidelity of campfires.

Updated the icon for Book of Wololo.

AUDIO

Added unique sounds for each type of soul when they are gathered.

Added more variety to War Elephant grunt and death soundsets.

Mellow music tracks will begin playing at the character select screen after culture music finishes.

Slightly increased the volume of Enyo's Bow when it fires.

OPTIMISATIONS

Significantly improved the performance of the pickup respawning system, was previously activating and resetting over 100 triggers every 20 seconds causing pretty noticable stuttering, the triggers are now activated over a period of 9 seconds reducing the load on your CPU, significantly reducing stuttering and random frame drops.

Reduced the stuttering when loading a unit for the first time, this means less stuttering when new attack waves begin that introduce new units.

FIXES

- Fixed a bug with wave 15 not spawning enemies when the player was to the very left of the map
- Fixed a minor visual issue with a Sun Sprite's visuals that caused it to flicker slightly when Ankh of Ra was purchased
- Fixed the flickering with Ajax's name plate in hero selection
- Fixed missing sounds for Champion Axemen and Champion Camelry
- Fixed Flaming Weapons power up casting again after Ring of The Nibelung upgrade was purchased
- Fixed Flaming Weapons power up damage bonus persisting and stacking for lightning bolt attacks

GAMEPLAY

Removed Guardian Anubites from early attack waves on titan difficulty, felt unfair with how fast they were and there slowing attack was too much for a low level character. Also removed Serpents morphing into Wadjets on titan difficulty, they instead turn into Mercenary Cavalry, should make the early game more doable.


Phoenix have much faster attack animations now, making them more dangerous if they get close to you, previously they were basically no threat. Also fixed a bug that prevented Phoenix from being converted by the Book of Wololo.


Difficulty increases by 2 instead of 1 after completing wave 30, this means if you play on moderate, you will then be on titan difficult after completing wave 30, this should make the game more challenging and not as boring after defeating the first Titan.


Increased the amount of hitpoints enemies gain for every 30 waves survived, should make waves after wave 30 more interesting and challenging.

Added +50% enemy hitpoints exclusively for humans
Titans recieve +20% hitpoints every 30 waves
Titans recieve +5% speed every 30 waves
+30% --> +60% all enemy hitpoints


Siege weapons are now considered humans, so they now take bonus damage from bonus damage to human effects.


Overhauled all damage bonuses to be additive rather than multiplicative. This is a big change on its own, so I've done a pass on every enemy's HP, so the game should feel more or less the same, but bonus damage upgrades won't be as powerful as they used to be. This means damage bonuses across the board are less impactful, but also less of a requirement in order to have high DPS, making other non damage upgrades and relics more useful.

WEAPONS

Changed the upgrade levels for Mjolnir and Radiance so that you get the increased projectile count upgrade at level 9 instead of level 10.


Increasing the initial attack rate for the Fiery Caduceus to make it slightly better in the early game, reducing the final upgrade attack rate bonus to compensate, overall the attack rate is almost the same when the weapon is maxed out.

Removing the damage overtime from Poseidon’s Trident and replacing it with instant damage to make it a more consistent weapon, also updated description to tell players that projectile speed bonuses also increase damage for this weapon, as this has always been the case. Removed the piercing effect from the level 11 upgrade as well, as coll as it was, it suffered from a lack of consistency, enemies that moved quickly would take less damage than ones that moved slower which didn't feel good to use, the tridents will now always impale the target and deal instant damage.

Reduced the distant Meteors move before starting to attack, so they should hit enemies closer to you making them a better defensive weapon. Also changing Meteors level 11 bonus to massively reduce recharge time instead of doubling the projectile count, as the increased projectile count was overkill a lot of the time, having a large reduction in charge time will make the weapon more consistently useful as well.

Halved the overall particle amount for Dust Devils with very little change to their overall appearance.

Reducing the projectile count of Ballistas, the high projectile count was causing frame rate problems, especially when playing as Ajax. Also reducing the projectile count of a few enemies for the same reason.
