Patch Notes 1.4.0 The Royal Court
WARNING: This update *definitely* breaks save games. I chose to break them, hopefully fixing a nasty multiplayer desync in the process.

Cultures
Revamped cultures to work with the new Royal Court system and distributed vanilla traditions among the cultures.
Added three new Ethoses: Eldric, Mercantile, and Inventive, each with unique bonuses.

Added four new cultural traditions:
- Codes of War tradition (Kholin Warfare) prevents dueling while at war and has some hidden easter egg interactions.
- Sustainable Heirs tradition (Unkalaki Social) prevents firstborn characters from serving on the frontlines.
- Lords of Fashion tradition (Liaforan Social) grants discounts on Fashion amenities and allows for Fashion Duels with your poorly dressed courtiers.
- Envisagers (Ritual) improves spren affinity as your health decreases.

Modified and added a bunch of cultural name lists

Artifacts
Revamped the vanilla Artifact system to a hybrid system that works fairly well with the Way of Kings system. Focused on improving the readability of the artifact list and the ability to grant them custom modifiers and tooltips.

Shardic artifacts now grant court grandeur

The following functionality has been disabled temporarily:
- Staking artifacts in duels (There is now a vanilla Claimant system instead)
- Finding random artifacts in delves (It is unclear to me which artifacts are appropriate finds)
- Artifabrian repairing of the broken soulcaster and creation of new fabrials. (This should be redesigned into a Court Position job or Inspiration)

Vstim now owns the Benval Diamond at game start, and Honor's Drop is nowhere to be found, leaving Queen Fen with only the King's Drop.
You can now reuse the Perfect Gemstones on both Nergaoul and Ashertmarn.
Perfect Gemstones no longer have an active Equip Effect, but instead raise your investiture cap by 500 each.
Book Artifacts are now trinkets rather than handheld slot.
Refactored the booklet system to work with the new artifact system.

Court Positions

Hoid is now a Court Jester, and he's really good at it.
Artifabrians gain bonuses to aptitude for Antiquarian and Court Artificer positions.
Duelists get bonuses to the Personal Champion court position.

The Royal Guard system is now restricted to the Thaylens, as everyone else has access to Bodyguards via Court Positions.

Miscellaneous:
Higher Difficulty now affects your baseline Court Grandeur. Don't worry, it's pretty easy to get it back up.
Updated the Fullscreen Barbershop
Fixed the Vengeance Pact highprinces not moving to the Shattered Plains *again*.

Known Issues:
The revive dead shardblade decision is broken and should probably be disabled.
Who knows how Nightblood interacts with the new vanilla systems? I sure don't, and I'm scared to find out.

Interactions
Bondsmiths can use investiture to smith friendships and alliances via character interaction
Division-surgebinders may now cancel alliances and truces by clicking the red X in the character window - including those of other people!
Added several character interaction icons for easier navigation at a glance.

Shattered Plains rework
New 3D Shader effect for the Shattered Plains, thanks to fellow janker Terrapass!
New haircolor-tinted chitin armor asset for parshendi, thanks to AJ and the Elder Kings team!

Flavor
Redid most religious name suggestions - Jesus no longer walks on Roshar.
There's always another secret.
If Hoid is present at your liege's feast, he'll offer a personalized insult as you arrive.
Added art of Harmony for Harmony's Victory decision. Thanks to Ladymoonwhite, the artist!
Truthwatchers now get a bonus to the Find Secret council task
Updated the barbershop to the newest version.
Changed Parshendi Knight localization to "Warrior"

Fixes
If an AI Vengeance Highprince goes independent, they should no longer use the Vengeance title as their primary.
The Everstorm-Singer faith now accepts witchcraft.
Minor flavorization and localization fixes
Opinion quests now properly fail if the target dies.
Fixed a few misplaced pixels near the Herdaz-Sadeas border which was causing weird adjacencies.
Elit Ruthar now actually has a name

Worldhopper Victories
You can uncap investiture by collaborating with the 17th Shard or the Ghostbloods
The base requirements are to hold Cultivation's Perpendicularity, have the Architect and/or Artifabrian perks, and to have 100% gems to investiture multiplier
The 17th Shard will only help you out until a Shardic Victory has been claimed.
Afterwards, you must work with the Ghostbloods, who have harsher requirements

Quests
Fickle characters can ditch their Quests
Arbitrary characters can quest for random counties

House Quest system
House Rivalry mechanic for rival house heads to make their rivalry generational

Odium's Victory revision
Summoning the Everstorm decision now requires the Witch trait or secret
Dismantle the Oathpact decision (Odium's Victory) now requires the Witch Coven house modifier
Relocalized several of the Listener Witch events to make more sense in this context

DD (Delve/Duel combat) system improvements
Added a special Heraldic skill category
Gave Heralds some thematically appropriate duelist perks
Staggered herald DD prowess with difficulty
Heraldic Counterschemes now use the DD system
Multiple sources of Investiture Shield don't stack
Improved tooltips

Added Rift building to Rathalas
On higher difficulties, the AI gets some bonus independence faction resistance

New Rivalry Quest event option, letting you Quest for their primary title instead of their life.
Added dynamic weighting to the Rivalry quest and vision events.
You can now choose whether or not to send invested gems in the Gift interaction.
There are now AI Primary Cultures for most high-level titles, which should reduce bordergore by a bit.
Tweaked several Boon traits.
Improved textures for Cultivationspren, Inkspren and Crypticspren.
Added a few more CoA, in particular for Urithiru.
Further reduced AI-vs-player murder scheme success chance at game start.

Fixes
You can no longer play spren or chasmfiend cultures.
Added "achievements disabled" markers for some game rules which would invalidate leaderboard attempts.
Fixed many succession laws either being borked or having borked trigger tooltips when trying to adopt them (Thanks to doubleOpi!)
Fixed a borked ford in the Eastern Crownlands (Thanks to doubleOpi!)
Fixed some borked trigger logic for Devotion & Dominion's victory when you had a Landless primary title, such as a Vengeance Pact title.
Fixed some borked trigger logic for the Urithiru and Nightwatcher pilgrimage destination events, which caused a mismatch between the localization and the actual effect.
You should now once again be able to fire your Radiant Councillors. However, positions on the Radiant Council are now mutually exclusive with regular Council positions.
Cvaderln now correctly gives the same amount of armor as any other Shardplate.
A certain Lord of Scars is now properly marked as dead at game start, instead of rampaging around Roshar without a portrait and generally being a menace.
Added game concepts for Shardic Victories that were missing them.
The fifth Adventurer Legacy should now properly unlock the Befriend option for Arranged Courtships, assuming the candidate is landed and is targeting a vassal.
Many minor mapping and localization fixes.

Added a Yelig-Nar trait so you can search for the Blightwind's current host using the Character Finder.
Added a notification for the outcome of the Recharge Gemstones decision.
Added prototype visuals for inkspren and crypticspren
Blocked a vanilla Witch Event from happening for non-Witches (This is a vanilla bug)
Tweaks to Murder Scheme Agent Acceptance, in particular nerfing the likelihood of recruiting non-Lightweaver Radiants, recruiting other species, and, for the AI, recruiting anyone before year 1200 to murder a player (So you have a better shot at getting to play with the book characters for a bit)
Tweaked Elhokar's starting Quest to offer more of a choice: You can now upgrade all your Highprinces' vassal contracts at the cost of some tyranny and potential rivalry.
Last Stand now has exceptions for Holy War vassals of your faith, allies, and friends/rivals of the target (Assuming they stand to keep their land after your conquest)
Fix: Arranged Courtships should now properly skip the rank check for success.
Fix: Sometimes, Sadeas doesn't launch a murder scheme against Dalinar on day 2.
Fix: The Azish no longer need to formalize a lover they're already married to
Fix: The Davar family boys now have their appropriate flavorizations on game start.

1.2.0: The Last Stand
New Feature Mechanic: Last Stand!
This feature adds Vassals to Defensive Wars over titles that include their Realm Capital.
Last Stand is Game Rule-controlled: You can have it enabled, disabled, or only enable it for the Vengeance Pact. (It was the prototypical use case for this feature)
With Last Stand Enabled, attackers are at a disadvantage when seeking to conquer large swaths of land. Conquering a Kingdom becomes extremely risky, even with a huge army.
This should prevent either side of the War of Reckoning from stomping all over the other, and encourages the use of raiding to weaken any vassals in your intended target area.
Mouse over the title in the Declare War window to see a detailed breakdown of who will join and for what reason.
Non-Lunatic AI should be hesitant to declare wars where the Last Stand-ing vassals constitute the majority of the military strength.

Content and balance:
Dawncity holding construction and upgrade time doubled to 10 years.
Added a new Infrastructure building which provides build speed and build cost discounts, helping you rapidly develop newly founded holdings in the late game.
Eshonai's Warcamps-facing vassals are now warfare specialists.
Failing to bond a spren can now provide several other coping mechanisms as an alternative to gaining more stress, for example gaining Melancholic, Irritable or Flagellant.
Arranged Courtships should no longer be affected by tier difference.
Added game start Quest events to Eshonai and Elhokar, providing a little flavor for players unfamiliar with these characters.
Added a new "Babath's Bastards" innovation similar to the vanilla Condottieri innovation, providing great bonuses to Mercenaries.

Flavor:
Greatly improved the Thaylen Eyebrows asset with novel new techniques such as "having more than 16 pixels in the texture" and "using your character's hair color"
Gave Rock his nickname
At popular request, Jakamav is now landed.
Various map work, focused on providing some nuance to mountainous terrain.
Added leather glove asset for women.
Improved certain spren decal textures
Added a bunch of Cultural Title Names to Eastern Roshar.
Improved dungeon delving animations somewhat.

Fixes:
AI Bondsmiths should no longer have access to sprenblade and sprenplate
Fixed the broken sword animations for women and children
Various fixes to Federations, such as the military strength modifier to the ai_accept chance being capped at 100, and actually having a tooltip.
Secondhand spren no longer hate you due to your faith or culture.
Bureaucrats can no longer attempt to fire their primary spouse from their council over clerical errors.
Added various family members, ensuring among other things that Eshonai and Venli aren't half-sisters but full sisters.

Another attempt at fixing the random crash. Has a higher likelihood of being correctly fixed than previously.
The fix mostly means that one_legged no longer grants a movement speed penalty.

Added the Elthal dynasty and removed a duplicate Cvaderln artifact.
Only Radiants may create Urithiru titles.
Fixes a bunch of minor technical errors in an attempt to hunt down a crash bug that I can't reproduce. I doubt any of my fixes actually fix the problem, but since it's not crashing on my end then I might as well push a patch.
Added a bunch of assets that aren't hooked up to anything yet (For future use)
