Mount Ruapehu is a large volcano located on the central plateau of New Zealand's North Island. It is the southernmost active volcano in the Taupo Volcanic Zone, and one of the most active, last showing signs of eruption in 2011. In 1953 a dam which formed in the crater lake following an eruption eight years earlier collapsed, causing a lahar which destroyed a rail bridge and sent a train into the river below, causing the deaths of over 100 people. Ingame, Mount Ruapehu is constructed by a city as an imitation natural wonder, and provides +3 Culture, +4 Science, +4 faith and +1 Happiness. It becomes available with Metal casting, and the city must have a mountain nearby.

The Oruanui eruption came close to wiping out Homo Sapiens Sapiens, and possibly wiped out Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis.

Subscribing!

Well they have Lake Victoria, so why not Lake Taupo? The Oruanui eruption, about 26,500 years ago, is responsible for the shape of the modern caldera (basically a giant collapsed volcano that emptied out too much debris to retain its structural integrity)..

Aoraki (Mt Cook) is another thought.

nothing like building a large mountain..but to add baking soda and make is a volcano wonder is just amazing.

A lahar is essentially a volcanic mud-slide. It happens when you have a lake in the crater of a volcano, and then because of the volcanic activity a dam holding in the water or part of the crater collapses, allowing the water to pour out with the mud and rocks

These artificial natural wonders are so brilliant! I felt there weren't nearly enough Natural Wonders in Vanilla CiV, but they still seem scanty with G+K, especially with the way not all of them will spawn even on maximum map size.

One question, though... what is a "lahar"?

Finally NZ gets a metion in Civ 5, even if its a mod! Great work!

I know the feeling, especially when I see it as one big island...
I thought the same way regarding the Pink and White terraces, however they have Krakatoa ingame which pretty much blew itself up, as well as stuff like the Great Lighthouse and the Temple of Artemis, which don't exist anymore. So I reckon it'd be alright to do, but I might find something else to do - maybe Waitomo Caves?

This mod looks very impressive, and it's nice to see some representation of the great Kiwi civilization! I am always disapointed when I find NZ on the Civ map, but this will help make up for it! :) If you were to make another NZ wonder, I would definitely agree with your suggestion of the Milford Sounds, as they are (in my opinion) one of the most beautiful places on Earth! I wouldn't do the Pink and White terraces, mainly because they don't exist any longer :/ (Hobbiton also sounds like a good suggestion xD lol, can't wait for the film release!)

I suppose Australia's already well represented in the wonders department, especially if you count The Barrier Reef as two whilst you guys got the short end of the stick, especially considering the natural wonders you have, and don't get me started on the dodgey representation of New Zealand on the Earth map, two Islands, there are two islands, north and south. I'm suprised they didn't leave off Tassie! Well keep up the good work, maybe you could add Hobbiton as a Kiwi wonder? :) I just had a look at Milford Sound on Wiki and I can see what you mean - amazing. It said there that Rudyard Kipling had called it the Eighth Wonder of the World and I'd be hard pressed to disagree.

Ah well, close enough. I was thinking of adding the Pohutu geyser, but I think it'd be better for a NZ-based scenario as it's not really that good on a global scale. I'd like to add the Pink and White terraces or Milford Sound though if I got the chance
