General Information

Some of my theorycrafted combos that I believe that works well and in tandem with each other.

Be aware that the right-mouse button is bound to the down (↓) in the Artes menu. That's where you will be placing all of the skills that are listed.

You must first unlock these skills through leveling up.

If you have an awesome combo build, that's unique and in anyway NOT similar to the current build available on the lists; please leave them at the comment section. I'll add them!

This isn't a perfect guide by the way. I just made this for the sake of making something. So, here it is.

[C] - Magilou

This variation is a caster type.

The one and only build for Magilou. Which mostly, solely, a range DPS. I've tried many variations to find which is more fun, but I find this rather suitable for her than her melee build. So, this is the only build that I will be listing. Of course, you may submit yours!

[+] Extremely powerful long-range DPS
[+] Extremely high SG build-up

NOTE: As an alternative: You can swap Crown Fire for Blood Moon, if you want an instant cast or Explode, if you want a bigger damage, but has a pretty long cast time. I'd highly recommend for you to stick with Crown Fire, cause you don't want anyone getting too close.

[C] - Eleanor Hume

She's an amazing character, but I just can't find a proper build for her. Tried many renditions, but I feel that I find the stuff I've experimented on lacklustre.

This is the only build that I like so far, so, it is the only one that I'll list. This is the same thing with Magilou, just having one variation. I tried the caster variation on Eleanor but it's just too plain for me. I mean, I could go for Flame Beast, Flame Beast, Maelstrom and Malestrom - that would just be too boring. Or you can just go all out and be a healer.

You can submit your combos though.

[C] - Laphicet

Believe it or not, I have tried melee combos on Laphicet. Boy, it is not his forte. He has some great things going on for his skillset, but in my opinion, he is NOT designed to be melee. Lol.

Lacks DPS, in which you'll have to rely on Break Souls (R), Draconic Drive and Dragon Dive to achieved the desired damage. This is one of the best combo, in terms of getting upclose to your enemies due to Flash Step.

The reason why I added Last Throes in the initial Stage, it's because I find it an appropriate opening, it is instant and can be used defensively as it knocks enemies back, giving you a chance to cast your spells.

@Akhlys Excessive usage of repeated artes only influences the stagger time. Stun procs are not affected.

There are more details here: https://www.neoseeker.com/tales-of-berseria/faqs/2630764-mechanics.html#h22

I think gouging spin -> swallow dance -> harsh rebuttal -> rising moon is way more powerful for velvet. while it's mostly just non-elemental, it's low on SG cost, available very early on and stuns in 1-2 combos. I tried your recommendations for a while and it took like 6 or more combos for a stun, so I was always low on souls.
(to be fair I used the other ones thousands of times and yours were pretty unused, I do not know if usage time influences stun chance)

What are some combos for the very beginning of the game?

Thanks so much for this guide! :happy_ball:

a small correction: Rokurou's Infernal Bloom has Stun as additional effects (not the Poison)

@Mr. Hmm

Glad that it has helped you.

Though I haven't played the game for a long time now. Most of the build that you see, in this guide, which I haven't updated for a while, are mostly mid-game or near-end game --- where most skills are unlocked. It's fine to utilize the default setup. Then you may experiment as you see fit as you unlock said skills.
Mr.Hmm 15 sep 2019 om 16:44
My god, this guide made it easier for me to kill enemies.... awesome, i am currently lvl 36 and i am stomping the enemies easily on hard difficulty.

There's only 1 question that i have, when you start out and are at low levels without all the arts unlocked, is it fine to just use the default art setup?
Ani 17 aug 2019 om 21:21
I just started playing this game and am already finding this guide helpful. Thank you!

SoulAkai41
You can set one of your guard abilities with slicing foot since it is followed up by gouging spin, harsh rebuttal, and rising moon with the warrior's ventite. Boom, a 5th combo that is non elemental. On that same note, warrior's ventite allows soaring dragon to be followed up by infernal torrent, so you can replace infernal torrent with searing edge and be able to use both.
SoulAkai41 3 aug 2018 om 7:59
Here's the Arte build that I use to survive on Chaos difficulty using Velvet:

Y (Wind) = Banishing Thunder, Shadow Flow, Grounding Strike, Heaven's Wrath
X (Water) = Twin Whip, Water Snake's Wake, Shell Splitter, Scale Crusher
B (Fire) = Souring Dragon, Infernal Torrent, Cerberus Wave, Slag Assault
A (Earth) = Tearing Thorn, Avalanche Fang, Mega Sonic Thrust, Binding Frost

Each set focuses on using a single element to easily deal with bosses or groups of enemies with a single weakness.

X and A probably have the lowest SG consumption. If you find yourself with only 1 SG, you can just use the first Artes in Y and B to deal more crowd damage and possibly stun them.

Enemies with a Void weakness is the rarest you can fight, so I didn't bother making a build for that.

I hope this build helps you guys.
