Install Tutorial:

1. First subscribe to the mod. Simples.

2. To use this for Nick you willl need to back up Nick's original voice folder (gambler) by cut and pasting it to somewhere safe, like the desktop. He has two locations. You can find Nick's voice here:

SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\sound\player\survivor\voice
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2_dlc1\sound\player\survivor\voice

3. To use this for Francis you willl need to back up Francis's original voice folder (biker) by cut and pasting it to somewhere safe, like the desktop. He has three locations. You can find Francis's voice here:

SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2_dlc1\sound\player\survivor\voice
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2_dlc2\sound\player\survivor\voice
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2_dlc3\sound\player\survivor\voice

4. Download the mod unpack tool called "GCFScape." Link here: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/files/files/gcfscape186.exe

5. Go to your left 4 dead workshop folder:
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\addons\workshop

6.Locate the mod in the folder by looking for "971751791" now extract the mod using GCFScape.

7. Open the extracted file and copy the folder "biker" and/or "gambler" to their original voice locations.

8. Go to steam library and right click L4D2 and go to launch properties, enter "-console" (without quotation marks.)

9. launch the game and go to options and enable console. Push the ` button and it will appear.
Type "snd_rebuildaudiocache; quit" (without quotation marks.) After the loading screen it should quit to desktop.

Done.

FAQS:

Q: Why install in this method and not use steam's easy "install and play" workshop method?

A: Sacrificing just a little time for the user to install this mod allows me more freedom to make the best quality voice mod I can. I spent over thirty hours making the mod so spending minutes to install it is a very good trade off. If I was to use the simple method it also restricts the majority of Max Payne's dialogue and he isn't really the kind of person to just say a couple of words, lets be honest.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the mod! :)

@copperhead Boot the game first, let the add-ons load like you would any mod, once it's done THEN go to the workshop folder

@OS sorry for the late response but did you do "snd_rebuildaudiocache" and "snd_updateaudiocache" after doing rebuild?

It seems like the workshop straight-up didn't download the mod or labelled it something completely different, because searching for 971751791 doesn't give me any results on my entire computer, let alone where it's supposed to be. Shame, I was kinda looking forward to this.

Any chance of you uploading the mod online somewhere else so we can just download the files and put them where they belong instead of jumping through these needless Workshop hoops?

The link spits out a 403 in Canada, but I found an alternate source for the tool if anyone else is having a similar problem.

That said, I can't find 971751791 in the workshop folder.
