About Dryrain's Reskin




Dryrain's Reskin is a graphical mod that changes the looks of many units. It's focusing on realistic and lore friendly vibe. Also it doesn't make much of a difference from the vanilla intention. There are only subtle visual changes that give more variety rather than changing the appearance entirely.


Summary


○ More varieties for Greenskins units.
○ Special appearance for ROR units.
○ Improved textures.
○ Adjusted colors.
○ Purely cosmetic mod. It doesn't affect on gameplay.


Setting and Compatibility


○ Keep your unit detail setting to ultra. Otherwise it doesn't work fine.
○ The images were affected by Reshade 3.0 and other mods. preset[drive.google.com].
○ Compatible with any mods that does not edit same variantmesh files, textures and color tables.


Suggetion and Bug Report


○ Unfortunately I'm not good at english. If you keep the grammar, it helps me understand the words.
○ I'll look into every suggestions. but it doesn't mean I promise to apply changes.
○ If something is wrong, please run the mod without other mods first.
○ Some units look weird in a distance. It's LOD problem.

○ The barding patterns are from here. Bretonnia Knight Barding and Shield Reskin by Zaskar70.
○ Mousillon unit cards are made by SPARTAN VI.

So if hooveric or anyone with better skills than me, wanted to take the time and just make a better looking
grn_orcs_torso_03_lods_diffuse.dds then add it to his file here, it would take care of the LOD problem

That's all that is needed to get it to work. :)

@hooveric and anyone else who might be interested in this.

I found out how to fix the LOD texture loading problem that has been reported. Sadly, I am not skilled at making new looking ones to match what hooveric did. I've tried.
So while I can cover up the LOD, I sadly am not as skilled as hooveric is at making new ones that look good.

The main problem is this file. grn_orcs_torso_03_lods_diffuse.dds wasn't retextured then added into the mod files. It would go where all of the others go.

\variantmeshes\wh_variantmodels\hu2\grn\grn_orc_boyz\torso\tex

So when ever you zoom in or out, it's using the file from the main game folder.

yeah it's known issue. the reskin can't affect the LOD textures.

When far enough away for low-res textures to show, it seems to still use the vanilla colors. This re-skin is great, but when I pull away or look at a unit from afar, it is a bit immersion breaking to see those low-res red colors disappear as I pull close again. Is this for everyone, or am I having some conflict?

Just wanted to say that after this graphical mod, it is so much easier, for me, to tell (in order) which Orc unit is which, from: (Savage) Orc Boyz --> (Savage) Orc Boy Big Un's --> Black Orcs.
