Winery, Wine Making and Ageing

Kuvaus
Allows making of fine wine, from the growing of the grapes right through to letting it age.

Uploaded mod, Inluding the Rimworld 1.0 version to the nexus: https://www.nexusmods.com/rimworld/mods/345/

All textures Belong to Eagle0600 as does the Expandable Fermenting mod which allowed a programing illiterate person such as myself to make this mod. He also assisted me with the XML work.

I am bad at describing things in a coherent manner, so sorry in advance.

Update: Found a problem that caused grapes to still die in cold conditions, this has now been resolved you may have to update your files.

This mod adds 7 things to the game, Grape Plants, Grapes, Must(proto wine), Wine, Aged wine, Wine Fermenting barrels and Wine Ageing barrels; all of these bar the Grapes themselves are locked behind the brewing research, just like beer.

Grape plants require a skill of 8 (one higher than hops) to plant, and take 40 days of growing before producing their 1st crop, but produce another every 15 days after, so growing grapes is an investment. To offset this somewhat, grapes do not die in cold conditions but protecting them from other dangers is very important.

Grapes are eddible as food, but their main purpose in this mod is to be turned into wine, once you have researched brewing this is done by turning the grapes into must at the brewery (you get the same must/tile/day from grapes that you get wort/tile/day from hops) and then fermenting them in the wine fermenting barrel (the way the code is it is much easier to add another barrel than to make one barrel do two things) which will produce wine in the same ammount of time that it takes to turn wort into beer.

Young wine is Identical to beer in all ways except name and texture to beer, the real reason to put the time into growing grapes is to age the wine, this is done in barrels (I would like to have ageing racks but making those textures is beyond me) which are sepperate to the fermenting barrels. Wine gets aged for a year, making climate controll a potential worry. Ageing prefers to be a bit colder than fermenting but otherwise has a similar range.

Fine wine is a bit more valuable than Yayo, and if you leave walkways arround your barrels has about a similar value per tile per day to yayo, it also provides an additional mood boost above that of just drinking alcohol, this boost lasts a bit over a day and does not stack with it's self.

Wine making should hopefully be an effective economy, provided you are willing to devote the layout time, and is safer than hard drugs, you probably need to intend to make wine from the start of your colony because of the large initial time investment.

Note: Prerequisite mod may bork your existing beer barrels if you install it mid game. Deconstructing and reconstructing them should help.

Changelog,
Updated for Beta 0.18, included immunity to blight to the grape plant.

Updated for Beta 0.19, Reduced Fermenting Time to remain the same as Beer, Reduced Ageing Time to stay at the same Ratio.

Updated for Release 1.0, no changes to game at some point may upload older versions (stilll have them) if requested

Updated for Release 1.1, custom text in the ageing barrel had to be removed, as it was somehow responsible for the barrels not working. otherwise no real changes. Version for 1.0 kept cannot upload it to steam but if interest is expressed I can probably work out an alternate way to download it.

Updated for Release 1.2, Version for 1.0 now up on nexus

Updated for 1.3

<3 thanks I'll just go drop another post on that mod real quick for ya since that person is actively watching comments at the very least.

I will update it, but I need expandable fermenting updated first sorry, (it actually does most of the work opening up systems to be edited with just simple text, my edit is likely to not be much more than increasing a version number)

this may sound odd but... I prefer this mod over other options because it's more simplified and feels natural to the game than some of the other options. I'll see what I can do since I got a friend interested in playing the game that knows C# and right now he's looking at fixing mod manager since that's a big mod that has seemed to have been lost to the ether. I do get it when it comes to losing enthusiasm though, I have one mod I upkeep for don't starve together but I haven't had enough motivation to really add anything new to it.

I have sorta lost enthusiasim and am honestly surprised people still want to use this instead of other options. Try to see if it works without updating, otherwise I will need the required mod updated first sorry, but if you can get that sorted I will do it.

I encoded the fix for the visualSizeRange issue discussed below here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2741863600

I'd been fixing this manually, but Steam validations tend to reset it, and occasionally even delete the whole def for planted grapes.

Hiddencow, I had the same issue, I did as the author said and activated "Expandable Fermenting and Processing" and it now works!

There has not been an update since i last updated it, so to debug it can you please 1st make sure the prerequisite is installed and loaded before this mod also you probably know this but the brewing tech is required. If that doesn't work try uninstalling all other mods to check for a conflict, if you still have a problem after that I will check it.
