Introduction
In this pretty simple straightforward guide I'll provide you with the files necessary to edit the names of the Ikkitousen girls to their original anime and manga counterparts. This is applicable only to the English version of the game.

We too are pretty excited.

How to patch
Simply replace the files from each folder into the same folder in steamapps\common\Senran Kagura Estival Versus\GameData. The Ui ones are for the graphic interfaces (Switch character menu, Character intro before combat) and the Binary/Text one is for dialog.
Comments
The file provided above includes an untouched version of the patched files, as a backup, in case you just want to switch back.

These new files were created combining the resources from the Chinese and Korean version of the game, as they have the original names because there was no legal problem to use them in Asia. I also edited the plain text database to replace all the instance of the former names were used.

Credits to whocares8128 for the Cat Texture Editor used to edit the files.

Example:

I actually wanted to use Hōsen, but for some reason it ignored the ō character. Tried to copypaste the letter from Ryōbi, Ryōna and Ryōki but to no avail. Will probably try a few things and if successful,
I'll update the file.

If someone notes an error or an instance were the names are not showing, or displaying the old names, you are welcome to make a comment about it. It would be useful if you could hand an screenshot or pasting part of the text from the error dialog.

Enjoy.

The thing is that these files were inside the game, so the only thing I really did was to replace them with the final ones.

Sadly PBS didn't have them, but it could be done if I some designer could make them in photoshop or illustrator, and I assume it should be easy since the fonts used in the game are actually in the files (as images, not as usable fonts).

If any can do it, and is willing to, feel free to contact me.

No, the team at Marvelous was actually asked about that matter, and in summary, they answered that it was a situation of "keep THESE specific names in the English release, or don't release them at all". It appears to be a very complicated matter, but at least they kept the original names in the files for us to use.

I doubt it's actually a copyright issue, there've been plenty of games where we just don't get the DLC characters because of that, and changing out a name doesn't negate the copyright on a character, it's a package deal. It's more likely the English translation team is at fault, since the kanji for both sets of names (Lu Bu and Ryofu for example) are the same, just one is Chinese pronunciation and the other is Japanese. Whether it's just a screw up or they actively made the choice to use the Chinese names though, I have no idea, either seems plausable honestly.

Well since theyalways spoken they intended names in voice over i dont see a problem

i have not tried this yet, but will the names be spoken, because if so that would require sound files to be swapped as well.
