AlienRP

I really didn't understand this one.

Spawn on a ship, move slower than you do in HL2RP, and that's saying a lot. Turn a corner and hear the loudest gunfire ever as two heavily armored men are drilling rounds into a freak alien who can't move because their model got stuck in a part of the map. Think that looks cool, become one of the jobs that has a gun and can kill aliens. Still move at a snail's pace because you have armor now, turn a corner, see the same alien, but this time he isn't stuck. He rushes you faster than you could ever hope to move, and you die. Respawn, and over the radio everyone's screaming about this alien. Server lags out, or are you just moving that slowly?

Auschwitz RP

A friend told me to join, wow was it an experience.

While connecting to the server, get blasted with some German music. Load in, and immediately hear a mass of people screaming "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" while flailing their arms up and down. After a few minutes, you figure out that you have to mine a lot of rocks or do other miscellanious tasks to level up. Once you level up to level 5, proceed to join the resistance so you can wreck with a pistol. Spawn down in an underground bunker with a literal maze of vents to lead you out. Once you lose your way about five times and almost feel like quitting because there's no damn way out, you see the light...or you suicide. Eventually emerge from the hole and see a group of three Nazis with rifle charging and firing at you. They shoot you on sight because they think it's fun.

Club Penguin RP

I don't know who thought of this or why it was ever created.

Spawn in a server, see two Pengu models, already know you're in for a great time. Walk around a bit, inevitably find a penguin gun dealer and bartender. Find an arcade, and pocket the arcade cabinets because the owner doesn't know how anything works. Keep walking, and get kidnapped by a Pingu with handcuffs. Get fed up with the lack of care, and leave.

CW: HL2RP

I like Half-Life 2. I like it a lot. This is not HL2.

Create a character, with some bass ackwards description, say that you understand that you're oppressed and sad, then spawn in. Walk at a snail's pace to an apartment block, only to realize there's no way to own the door. Walk into an alley and get interrupted by four guys in rebel outfits hashing it out about god knows what. Get told it doesn't concern you when you ask what's going on, then get kicked for FailRP.

DarkRP

The most popular gamemode in Garry's Mod for a while now, and I just can't figure out why.

Join a server, hit F4, try to become a job, see that all of the non-vanilla ones are restricted to donors or admins, then become gun dealer. You have two chioces here. 1) Self-supply. The risk with this is that if anyone sees you with a gun in your hand, they'll play the assume card and squeal for an admin about self-supply. And now you're banned. Alternatively, 2) sell guns in a nice shop. You'll seldom get business because the VIP Heavy Gun dealer next door matters more. Most you'll get is someone with less than a day of time in Garry's Mod who buys a shipment of pistols or something. You'll get bored in time, and then result to option 1 anyway.

EquestriaRP

I don't know why I decided to do this.

Join the server, walk up to two ponies having a conversation. They're both using voice chat so you quickly hear that one is a grown man and the other is either a small child or a female. Check the jobs, they all have the same models, except for one called human, because what's a pony server without humans? Realize you need to be a member of the server's steam group in order to use weapons at all, and disconnect.

FalloutRP

These people wouldn't last a day in the apocalypse.

Join the server after an hour of downloads. Create a character and instantly get asked if you want scrap. Say no, because the guy is shady, and then get killed because you won't take his scrap. Come back, emerge to the surface, loot a couple containers loaded with garbage. Walk into a restricted base like nobody's business, change the password on someone's computer because the original was "password," and walk out unharmed. Three people with big guns surround you and tell you you're being kidnapped. You fake AFK to get out of it, and you just hear three very angry prepubescents yelling about FearRP. Get shot because you're not complying, and do it all again.

FidgetSpinnerRP

Wow.

Spin a fidget spinner. Realize the record for RPM would take over five hours to achieve. Hide in a bush with an auto-clicker, and get mugged for your fidget spinner. Die and repeat.

FurryRP

I think (hope) there's only one server for this. It's the major one I guess.

Join the server, hit F4, and every job has ten error models accompanied by one or two models you can see. Become a black market dealer because you can see its model and think there's nothing better to do. Set up a shop, but then get demoted because somewhere in the copy-paste job description there was something about not being able to set up obvious BMD shops. Whatever. Become a SWAT member because you can also see that job, and raid the sewers for a random ghost furry that killed people. Kill him, get brought by an admin because you did something wrong. Because you have voice_loopback 1, you notice that the server has forced your microphone to transmit. Interesting. Feed the admin absolute bull reasoning to why you did what you did, and then get released. Notice your mic is no longer transmitting without you holding X. Interesting again. Don't like that system, kill everyone and get banned with a reason that makes the owner sound a lot cooler than he is.

HaloRP

Halo is one of my favorite game series of all time. Too bad I can't experience this.

Join the server, take literally 30 minutes to FastDL the map (90mbps down), then see that that's not the end of it, and just give up.

HogwartsRP

I got perma-banned for consensual magic dueling. I'm back for some reason.

Join in, get told your name is wrong, change it, then go to class for an hour only to learn spells you aren't able to use without getting banned. Beg to be kidnapped, then just get bored and leave.

MethRP

This is just DarkRP with more drug jobs.

Join the server, hit F4, notice that in a gamemode named "MethRP," the meth cook job is limited. Go to a secluded part of the map and cook meth. Someone followed you, though, so you try to get this guy away from your small little house because he has a gun and you do not. He refuses to leave, so you send a friend out to kill him. You collect meth, go into the main area to sell it, and an RDM fest is taking place in spawn. Sounds like DarkRP.

MilitaryRP

I couldn't get into this one, because here's what I encountered. I imagine it's StarWarsRP v2.

Join the server, wait 20 minutes for custom content, then the server reloads because of LUA errors. Wait another five minutes, only for the same thing to happen again. The next day, go back, become American recruit because screw being a terrorist. Read on the ceiling that the American military isn't being trained, so to go Taliban. Go Taliban, spawn in some dusty village, wander around because no one is there to train you. Walk five feet from the exit of this village, get shot, lag profusely. Some guy runs out of the village screaming that he's target practice. Do the same then disconnect.

PERP

Another take on the serious city life roleplay. Where's the name from? No one knows.

Join in after downloading an infinite amount of content. Walk at a snail's pace around the map to find something to do. Find a road crew building, and the NPC inside. Take a quiz to become road crew. Pass the quiz because of the wording alone. Talk to the NPC three more times in order to spawn your tow truck. Drive around for a while before you get a call to repair someone's car. Drive to the tunnel where you think he is, but it's blocked off by police. Turn around, but as you're driving away get a call that the road is clear. Turn back, but it's not cleared up. Plow through the cars. Make a full circle and end up in the city again. Experience the most unstable framerate you will ever know, then disconnect.

PoliceRP

I had the joy of playing this one for the second time today.

Join the server, wonder why your frames are so low, but then walk outside and see a five-car pile-up and understand instantly. You'll become a cop, only to be trained just like in StarWarsRP, but with even more ranking and code words to remember. You're not actually allowed to do anything at your current rank because you're not trusted to, so you tag along with others to see what's up. (I'm gonna get a little personal here). Get bored, and decide to climb the bank with your Climb SWEP. Get taken down and muted, gagged, and stripped by a guy who speaks broken English. Wait out that time and try again, ask him what the issue is, but he ignores you and yams on about the MOTD or something. Read the entire MOTD, see nothing about climbing the bank, so just walk around. Bump into a car on accident, and for some reason it flies ten feet into the air. An angry Brit will come out of said car, say he's fed up with you, and ban you.

PonyRP

Me and a couple friends went in on this one. Too scary to go in alone.

Join the server, constant scripting errors when a friend arrives. Friend is kicked by admin, errors go away. Friend reconnects, gets brought, explains that their pony-sona (whatever) addon is out of date, and therefore causes constant errors. Get that sorted out, become royal guard, walk around interrogating random people because you can. One of you goes gun dealer, and supplies firearms to ponies. Ponies have hooves. Don't think about it. Take up arms, and just shoot everyone because good lord this is too much. Plot twist, you were being stalked from the start, so you got banned almost instantly.

PrisonRP

I don't really understand this one.

Run around an entire jail building with free reign, get guns from some guy with too much time clocked in the server, shoot a guard, get killed, do it all again. This is kinda fun because you can make an uprising out of the prisoners with relative ease.

Rick and Morty RP

It was inevitable. But now that it's here, I had to check it out.

Spawn in on a pastel-colored planet. Apparently this is Earth. Steal a spaceship and fly off to a remote space rock. Walk into a building there, and notice there is no lighting, and go down an elevator. Get shot by a woman with a laser gun, and respawn on the pastel planet. Repeat everything until some random guy gives you a gun from Titanfall to raid the space rock room. Get halfway through only to get gunned down by an error with another Titanfall weapon. Repeat everything over and over because there is actually nothing more to this gamemode.

SamuraiRP

A YouTuber suggested this. It's actually fun, so this section will be tough.

Join the server, have 20 FPS. Become a musician because the guitar SWep is always fun. See an advert from the shogun saying he's holding samurai training at the windmill in the field. Go there, and see 50 other people who want to become samurai. Wait around until the shogun tells you to pair up, then makes you fight to the death with your partner. Become a samurai at the perfect time for the Great War to start. The shogun, you, and 20 other people rush the enemy village while screaming your best battle cry. Get to the village and slaughter everyone there. The Great War ends, the shogun congratulates you, and everything returns to normal.

SantosRP

Wasn't this supposed to have a whitelist system?

Join the server, wait a while in the loading screen reading text that sounds like it's been translated from German. Spawn in, walk around a lot. Visit every shop you find, check out what they have. Find a clothing store, buy a nice suit because it's cheap. Start walking up a hill, get hit by a car, and listen to the lovely sounds of a little kid screaming about CDM. Lie in the road for five minutes while a very supportive man stays with you and calls police. His "dad" comes to pick him up, and drags him off. Lie in the dirt for another four minutes and watch as a cop sets up traffic cones around you. Suddenly, three emergency vehicles fly in, and revive you with 15 seconds left. It was the supportive man.

SCP-RP

Another great idea executed like a pile of dog dung.

Join the server, run around 30 square feet of space, get dragged out by a researcher, only to be taken to a mass murdering SCP, or be killed on your way to said SCP by a different SCP. Get fed up with this and become a researcher, and drag a couple people out, but then you'll encounter a guard who's killing everyone, and makes you lose your victim. Get angry, become a guard, kill the one guy who killed you out of spite. The admin will show up, not know what's going on, and ban you for RDM.

SlaveRP

Shut up about this one now kthx.

Join in, get shot in spawn. An admin is flying around spawning weapons with his toolgun. Pick one up, it's a Nyan Gun. The whole server wars for 10 minutes with these Nyan Guns while little kids with guard jobs still scream about RDM. The admin stops spawning the Nyan Guns, so you start shooting with them. Become Moonshiner to make money, and realize it's just re-worded EML. Almost make a full batch, then your game crashes.

StalkerRP

The Stalker games are fun. This is not.

Join the game relatively quickly. Spawn in a pitch-black, run-down old town. Buy a flashlight because without it, you won't be able to play. Walk around to a military base, because there's sure to be some loot there. Sweep the entire place twice, and find nothing. Stick around for another ten minutes waiting for someone to come around so you can ask what to do. No one ever comes, instead they're having a conversation in OOC chat. Realize there's actually nothing to do, so disconnect.

Starship Troopers RP

I thought this was Star Wars at first, don't hate me.

Join in, create a character, and walk around a little bit. Get led up some stairs by a captain and a commander into the bridge of the ship. Some sergeant guy comes up to you and requests your ID, tell him you don't know how, and watch the captain get angry at that guy. Stand there as the captain and commander argue about who is going to train you to the point where they start killing each other. Notice you've spent 60 minutes here and accomplished literally nothing, and leave.

StarWarsRP

A fun idea, I thought I'd love it, but they ruined it somehow.

Join a server, wait around for ten minutes for a giant flashing error to come up to you and train you for 30 minutes. You'll have to memorize at least ten textscreens, and who to salute, and how to donate, yadda yadda, then you'll need to know and practice formations with three other randoms who either don't talk or are complaining about how the server was reset. After this 30 minutes, you will proceed to wander around a massive ship with endless amounts of crew bunkers that you're not allowed in. If you want to join one of these crews, you go through another ten minutes of training, only to be denied, and start wandering until you get bored and disconnect.

SuomiRP

I thought it was an English server.

Take 15 minutes loading into the server while being greeted with a grey screen and some subtle but depressing piano music. At first glance, it seems like an English server. You are incorrect. The server introduces you to the map while Finnish text explains what you're looking at. Fail to understand anything. Hit the "litty' button and get screamed at in Finnish to get into a car. The driver holds a gun to your head. Be frightened because you're literally being help at gunpoint, but then everything turns out alright when they randomly started dancing and playing Ding Dong Song. Say you're going to leave because you're bored, but they start screaming again and pull out the gun. The server quickly dissolves into prop-block and prop-kill until it is quite literally unplayable.

UndertaleRP

I don't get how people have fun on this.

Join in, the default class is the river guy. Check your weapons, you're holding a Browning Automatic shotgun. You take this out and start walking across the bridge, but not before a T-posing Mettaton runs by being followed by two Floweys with knives. You hear the endless slashes of said knives, but because of Source melee, none of them hit. Slam the Floweys with your shotgun, get killed by another river guy, and respawn. Three river guys are leading a charge on Snowdin for god knows what reason. Get brought and jailed by two Sans players (both of which are at most 12 years old), the Flowey you killed, and a very out-of-proportion Frisk. They scream at you for five minutes, then you get kicked with a reason that's just a weak insult.

Warhammer 40k RP

Apparently this is based on a game or something?

Connect, download map pack after map pack, which ends up taking about 20 minutes. Join the server with a friend, and wait for each other so you can be trained together. Choose your character. Your friend is a floating head that faces 90 degrees to the right, and you are an ERROR. A guard takes you around back and trains you for a bit, not as much as any of the other gamemodes. Get attacked by an ERROR during your training. The guard sounds fed up with you and hands you off to someone else who also doesn't want to train you. Listen to these two fight for a few minutes, only for the original to finish your training. Walk around for a bit, buy four free guns from an NPC that you can't find. Disconnect.

ZombieRP

This one actually isn't awful.

Join in, have no equipment, leave the safety zone, get attacked by zombies. Either fight them off with your fists or dead-end melee weapon, or get infected immediately. Go up to a fortified base with two people outside, thinking maybe someone in there has the cure. The door to the base opens, and someone guns up the two outside. Crouch in fear as the SWAT guy with an assault rifle stares at you. Beg for the cure, watch as the SWAT guy buys ammo and runs off. Die because you're infected, and watch your zombified self attack someone too preoccupied reloading.

1942RP

I played this once, it wasn't too bad.

Join in, join the Nazi regime, go around making people sing and dance in the name of Adolf Hitler himself. Go meet Adolf Hitler, hear that he's like twelve, shoot him in the face, and celebrate with the entire server, staff included.

1950s Mafia RP

I played this a while before, went at it again.

Join the server, and create a character. Talk to the NPC in front of you about how to get money. Go down to the docks where he said you could make a lot of money, and pick up barrels for ten minutes. Three cops come by asking for something you don't care about, and you ask him how to get money. He lists off three things that are all worse than the barrels you were picking up. Walk around a lot more, but nothing happens, so you just leave.

Your server is not custom if it's running Downtown, Rockford, or EvoCity.
If you ban people for reason "minge," your server deserves to get ransomware'd.

I realize I got really specific toward the end of the guide, mainly because there are few servers to choose from, so the experience is all the same.
