Over 10 years old comments about reporting for exploiting or even banning for it still crack me up. Watch out ban hammer is coming. Soon™

The Nubing has video demonstrations of various Engineer out-of-bounds exploits recently, using the Wrangler. For example, he has demonstrated a different out-of-bounds exploit (attributed to NathanFelipeRH) on the Mannworks map two years ago, which has no reliance on the "High Five!" item and seems to be out of reach of Sentry Busters.

Normally, the high cliffs next to the tank tunnel had invisible player collision on the "inside-of-bounds" parts of the map, but no such collision existed behind the gate (which was typically "out-of-bounds"). No restrictions also existed to build on top of the cliffs; I built a Dispenser up there to heal myself, after a Sentry rocket jump ("wrangle jump") with a Wrangler, before picking up the Dispenser and taking some fall damage to fall below the playable area on an invisible ground collision. From there, we could build what we needed below the map and be immune to most hitscan bullets (absorbed by the playable ground, with one-way hitscan bullet collision).

I don't recall if we used store upgrades for a higher jump height.

After Valve blocked bots from being blasted into the tank tunnel in the September 4, 2012 patch, we discovered again this also prevented us from doing the "High Five!" trick (at a correct angle) to bypass the tank tunnel gate/barrier. I promptly added a quick note to the September 4, 2012 patch notes on the Team Fortress 2 wiki of this exploit being patched the same day, and added a few notes how it was done.

For a recap, (possibly before the January 8, 2013 patch) the High Five! taunt allowed to bypass most solid walls in the game (at a correct angle), to an effect which varied from useless to mildly humorous or interesting. Sometimes this led to falling to an invisible death barrier (such as in the Coal Town map). The tank barrier in Mannworks was one that could be bypassed with several High Five! taunts.

Before this, we built teleporters to return in case of death or maybe needing some upgrades.

The Engineer class and the Wrangler was a mistake.

Over a decade ago when we pulled off this exploit, if I recall correctly the discovery was shared to me by Khota-San (who seemed largely invested into Team Fortress 2 back then, or perhaps more accurately described as a "whale" by today's terms, for wearing at least a Hat of Undeniable Wealth And Respect). I don't know how Khota-San had discovered this out-of-bounds exploit, before sharing it with me. I was naive and young, and I don't take credit for the research of this out-of-bounds glitch.

This exploit had some flaws, albeit arguably minor ones. If I recall correctly, Sentry Busters (and possibly other area of effect explosion damage) were still a threat to our team under the map. I think we still had to move our buildings out of the way if a Sentry Buster came, and keep ourselves healed with Dispensers.
