Description
They'll fight... and they'll win!

Starship Troopers is based upon the popular novel of the same name written by the dean of science fiction writers, Robert A. Heinlein. In the novel, Heinlein describes a futuristic war involving ♥♥♥♥ sapiens from our Earth (Terrans) against a Humanoid race (nicknamed the 'Skinnies' for obvious physical attributes) and their cobelligerents, the totally alien Arachnids. Since this is a story of future wars and future advances in technology, much is changed in the fields of weaponry and tactics and strategy. One thing remains the same, however; the fighting still rests on the shoulders of the individual infantryman. Although great starships shuttle men between the distant solar systems and the power of individual weapons has risen to awesome heights, wars still cannot be won unless men venture onto the face of alien planets to fight the enemy on their home ground.

The game is set up in a "Programmed Instruction" system of scenarios to slowly introduce the game concepts. Scenarios range from Scenario I, which starts players off with a basic MI raid on a Skinny city (just like the book. "Flores died on the way up") to Scenario VII, The Battle of Klendathu: the final Terran assault on the Arachnid Homeworld.

Awards: 1976 Charles S. Roberts Best Tactical Nominee

This TTS mod includes complete rules of play, counters and optional miniatures, a high-res map, and tons of extra goodies plumbed from Boardgamegeek and the pages of the Avalon Hill General. You will find a complete expansion (more counters and miniatures), extra scenarios, solo-play rules variants, and more.

Game mechanics will require that you be comfortable using the vector paint tool to draw on the provided planning boards, or markers can be used to depict tunnel layouts and so forth.

Acknowledgement to others who have been slaving away putting out Avalon Hill and SPI classics for TTS users to enjoy. Many thanks to Dutchmogul without whom this game would look a lot shabbier. Also thanks to Finster for table extensions, Tumba for his nifty dice trays, and the community of "good old game" fans on TTS who appreciate the classics. I made an aesthetic decision to try to blend 'classic' SST elements with some visual elements from the movie. I can only hope the purists among you are able to come to terms with it.

If you enjoy this mod please check out Richthofen's SST mod here on the Steam workshop as well. His map and counters are cleaner and he added a lot of functionality with his custom control pad pieces, which I put to use here as well.

Wow, if someone can alter the powered suits to look like they did in the Japanese OVA from 1988 versus the Movie version of the Arachnids I'd die happy. Still a good mod!

Spent all of my allowance to buy this game b/c the box cover looked so cool. Got it home, look one look at the rulebook, then put it away again, never to be played. It was a bit daunting for a nine year old. Now, I look forward to checking it out here and maybe even actually playing it. Thank you!
