I assure you it's not a random design. It's actually a simplified version of a tartan I pieced together, using regional Ullapool tartans as inspiration. I did my research and didn't see a consistent tartan used for the DeGroots. The Finnegan you mentioned seems more like a generic placeholder than anything, but I could be wrong.

At any rate, it's also very common for clans to have more than one tartan design, especially an old, established one like Demo's. They'll have the original, variations for hunting and formal, bright modernized ones, special ones for clan chiefs, etc. So really, I can do whatever I like.
