Guide Info
The first 3 sections of this guide will hopefully be mostly objective using facts and what i believe to be truthfull info I found. Criticism will be given about the moderation team but not the members or any specific action, said criticism involved the dissadvantages the team faces notably underpopulation. The last section involves a subjective review of wether or not you should purchase the game.
Bugs ( and squashers)
This game no doubt had a rough launch, one of the main factors being the many bugs that plauged it. While this problem is no long as abundant there are still some minor bugs. However Kudos to the devs for stepping up and squashing the main ones. Some notorius bugs being, outpost and map problems, AI problems , and Multiplayer problems. The first two have been dealt with and now I tend not to see anything wrong with them. While the 3rd still needs some work, the good thing is multiplayer is enjoyable and playable just needs some syncing improvements! The bug problem is not nearly as bad as it used to be and while the game at the moment (5/20/2017) isn't perfect its doing a fine job compared to many "Early Acess" games.
After Purchase Paid Content Controversy
As you may have noticed i avoided branding the content one of the 2 "evil controversial terms," those being "Microtransation" and "Downloadable Content (DLC)." Recently a purchasable item on the steam store was released for this game it involves the ability to carry and place tents and blinds hence its name "Tents and Ground Blinds." At the low price of $3.99 (USD) it stirred the pot of hypothetical deer droppings, the community polarized into 2 groups one supporting and one dissaproving. While the content of "Tents and ground blinds" was fine (Polished and hotfixed), many people were upset that it costs real money. Led to believe by other members to the community that the Microtransational features prominent in "TheHunter Classic" were forever excluded from this spiritual sequel. The other group further understanding the business practice of this purchasable item found this to be a fair way to fund further developement of the game. After the ensuring arguements and mass ratings. The Devs made a response not completely satisfying either group. Many percieved the response to be condenscending or lack luster. While others disapproved that the devs completely ignored the ideas the community had about purchaseable content. However in the end the devs annouced that a very small portion of content will be paid and bigger more complex content will be sold at a latter date. This comment seemed to have mended many of the players trust with the dev's and eachother. Only time will show if the dev's deliever a fair balance of Paid and free content, and I admit even I don't know what that ratio will be.
Player/Player/Staff Forum Relations
Recently the forum has descended into chaos, with discussions going to full flame wars, topics getting put in wrong categorys or moved to wrong ones, and hatred between staff and players. Many players in this diverse game lead arguements they can't possibly win and even with steam censoring stuff still gets through and content is understood. Many of the less inteligent members are creating a hostile environment unfit for brainstorming and discussion of ideas or suggestions. While this is present in many forums its getting exceedingly worse due to the Post-pay paid content controversy, in that arguement (Not worthy of the name disscussion) neither side has conclusive evidence to support their ideas leading to improbable solutions and hostility between groups. This also bleeds into the next topic many forum posters unknowingly misplace topics or comments and these flamers ruin what could have been a productive disscussion. Moderators (who are overworked and unpaid) simply slam these topics into what seems to be correct groupings without concern for where the comments are moving or what ideas are being discussed further down the line. And to be truthful THIS ISN'T THEIR RESPONSIBILITY! Players should we self-controlled and try their best to not BLINDLY post ideas. This combination of problems leads to disasterous results. The forum at times is disorganized, hostile, and at times populated with staff giving harsh punishments for small mistakes. However to be honest THIS ISNT THEIR FAULT a rules post labels 6 main forum staff only 5 being mods. All of them are what appears to be unpaid volunteers, these people have jobs and lifes outside of the forums. With all that 6 people on such a large and growing community is not enough to make comprehensive decisions in majority of situations. It doesnt help only a small portion of the community actually knows about them (I appreciate your work peeps :D) and i know, I see way more hateful things directed twards them than helpful. Even i have had stuff deleted in absurd ways, but i cant hate! Why? because im a small small part of what they deal with and my comment deemed offtopic and deleted, was just them trying to improve the forum in the 15-30 seconds they saw it. In summary the forum has many problems and the (Unpaid, overworked, understaffed ) team patroling it is hastely trying to improve it, leading to mistakes causing more problematic members in the forum. Well this was just a rant about the deteriorating forum if so read most of it i congraduate you.
Subjective Review! (Buy it!)
Even with some of the rough spots listing and discussed. I still do believe this can be a enjoyable and economically wise purchase to make. COTW doesnt even cost the full price of a normal AAA game sitting around $40 (USD) its already cheaper that alot of titles, especially if you get it at a future sale. Even though more purchases will become available you still have wiggle room to spend and not feel as guilty. Content wise its more than decent with a good variety of guns, lands, and animals. Taking in account this is far from finished makes this even sweeter. While the multiplayer is rough i have a IRL friend that i commonly play the game with and we still have many enjoyable times. Overall this game is worth it and i would certainly buy it again if i could get a Re-do. Just be wary you are participating in developement and will see problems. Ive had amazing moments and the satisfaction of having a long hunt is unfound in every hunting game i have played except this.
Shoutouts!
First off I think the much discussed moderation team deserves a shoutout for their hardwork attempting to make the forum better.

Misinformation spread in the guise of a "guide".
To this day multiplayer is bugged with animals freezing, dog bugging out etc.
This useless whatever only showed up to me because I was looking for a dog guide.
Never did I expect a guide like this would pop up - well, fits though, it's similar to dog poo after all.

"Players should be self-controlled and try their best to not BLINDLY post ideas"

....or opinions disguised as 'Guides'?

Ahh the hypocrisy is strong with this one lol.

guide.

[ɡīd]

2.a thing that helps someone to form an opinion or make a decision or calculation:

"here is a guide to the number of curtain hooks you will need"

This helps you decide if you want to buy the game or not, so it indeed is a guide. People have reported and it was on front page for a while, if dev's or steam believed it was spam it would have been removed a long time ago.

Lost what arguement? Your argueing that i cant post what i want? Im sorry i triggered you so badly you want me to delete the guide, ♥♥♥♥ im sorry i tried to contribute to the community, i really didnt know what the problems were so i organized them in this manner for people who were confused on the outrage.

"This is better than cancer at least" is when you know you've lost the argument.
Shiro  [author] Aug 30, 2017 @ 1:36pm
This is highly outdated I posted this to help INFORM the community on people's opinions if the game. If devs didn't want it here it would have been deleted. Plus this is better than the recipe and video spam that fills most guide sections

This isn't a guide, it's an editorial. Go put this on the theHunter subreddit and remove it from here. Or better yet, just make a review of the game and use this.
