In this guide, we will cover the ins and outs, lefts and rights, and ups and downs of the FBI SWAT Operator, Thermite

1.The Basics

Who is Thermite? And what does he do?

Jordan Trace A.K.A Thermite is an operator for the american FBI SWAT, his special Gadget is the BRIMSTONE BC-3 Exothermic Charge. This is in essence, a breach charge that burns through the metal reinforcement before detonating, pushing the metal away and allowing entry. It is a roller mat with the compound on the edges with C4 in the middle to blow the wall away after activation.

"When you mix fuel, metal oxide and metal powder in just the right way, it burns at 2000 degrees Celsius. Hot enough to burn through nearly any barrier known to man. Throw some C4 into the mix, and you've got one hell of a combination."

Thermite has a limited selection of firearms in terms of primary weapons. He has a bit more leeway when it comes to sidearms however. They are as follows.

2.The Equipment

Thermite has only one assault rifle, and one shotgun to work with, along with two handguns. In this section we will be covering all there is to know about his weaponry.

556 XI Asault Rifle
Damage:46 (39 Suppressed)
RoF:690
Mobility:50
Capacity:30 (+1)

The 556 XI is a versatile assault rifle with moderate to low recoil, at times and at range it can be a bit hard to control, however pairing a compensator with a VFG (Vertical Foregrip) can combat this recoil, all around the 556 XI is a reliable firearm and will put down most targets quickly and easily if you are skilled with this weapon

Grip:Vertical Foregrip (VFG)
Underbarrel:None

Why i do what i do: Optics of course are personal preference, as for the compensator and VFG i like my weapons to be smooth shooters with little to no recoil to maximize accuracy and efficiency.

Some other things you can try: try a different optic or muzzle attachment. The choice is yours really.

M1014 Shotgun
Damage:32(x8, 8 being the number of pellets per shot)
RoF:~180
Mobility:50
Capacity:7 (+1)

The M1014 shotgun is a formidable enemy when in close quarters combat. it is about average in making holes in walls, and the penetration is not as good either. So dont expect to be killing entire teams through the wall, however, this is a near unstoppable weapon out in the open when close up.

Why i do what i do: Personally i dont take this shotgun out with thermite, i very rarely see thermites using it as well. The choice is yours

Some other things you can try: slap a fookin laseh soight on it. go for it.

Handguns

M45 MEUSOC 1911
Damage:47(39 suppressed)

Capacity:7 (+1)

The M45 MEUSOC is the hard hitting .45 ACP handgun for Thermite, this handgun will deal with most enemies in only a few accurate shots. This is my preferred pistol for Thermite and other FBI SWAT operators.

5.7 USG (FN Five SeveN)
Damage:27(22 Suppressed)
RoF:~360
Mobility:50
Capacity:20(+1)

The Five Seven is the less damaging option for Thermite although it has well over double the rounds of the M45.

3.How to play Thermite

Easy Version

Step 1: Yell for Thatcher/Twitch
Step 2: Place Thermite Charge
Step 3: Profit running away while cackling in texan

Advanced Version

Most of the time, playing as thermite is relying on your team mates if need be to destroy jammers, wires etc. Then placing your charge on the wall to give your team an entry point. How i play Thermite for example, is i hang back from the team, especially if there is a popular spawn peek spot where we are spawning, and let the team feel around and destroy any jammers or wires. The main objective is to stay alive long enough to at least use your equipment when playing Thermite or Hibana. Hibana can be played much more aggressively but thats another op for another time.

4.Tips and Tricks

-Something i recommend is advanced gadget deployment, it is a setting in the game that will allow you to cancel any gadget deployment mid animation, so this will help you out quite a bit when you are going up against a pesky bandit that keeps trying to bandit trick. With this you can begin placing the charge on a reinforced wall, and right before you finish you can cancel and move to another side or wall and begin placing there. If the bandit is fooled or doesnt have advanced gadget deployment on. It will net you a successful breach.

-As ive stated before, try to in theory be one of the last people on your team to die so that you can use your charges and give the team some options when attacking

-My preferred and recommended operator pair with thermite (Which most players will attest to) is Thatcher Thermite. Now Twitch is a viable pick, but nothing works better in my opinion than an EMP against jammers or wires that are placed. Twitch is most useful when a bandit is trying to bandit trick and she can harass him with her drone while you try to set up a breach.

One thing that's really helpful and should be added is that you should try breaching on corners of walls. At silver rank and below, most mutes don't cover the whole wall, so you can breach on the edge and get around it.
