Left Analog Stick Drift Fix
Bởi surashu
If you use Steam Big Picture gamepad mapping feature on your XInput controller, you might encounter a "drift" on the left analog stick while moving. That is, after you move, the character would continue drifting in the direction even after you've let go of the stick. This will hopefully fix that.

Option 1 - Use this premade controller configuration.
I made this controller configuration and it works for my XInput controller.

steam://controllerconfig/286690/925548550
Option 2 - Manually edit the controller configuration.
Step 1
Just go to the game itself and go to Manage Game > Controller Configuration.

Step 2
Edit the left analog stick's mapping.

Step 3
Go to ADDITIONAL SETTINGS.

Step 4
Increase the Output Anti-Deadzone by about this much.

Step 5
That's about it, that should hopefully fix the left stick drift in the game.

Doesn't work. I always adjust my dead zones for both joysticks for every game, and regardless of what I set my left stick's anti-dead zone to, it doesn't fix it. It gets progressively worse up to a maximum of 9,000, where I just gave up trying.

I figured it out! The default Steam layout is bad. I played the game on Epic Games, and it worked fine, but when I switched to Steam, I started having this problem. To fix it, follow these instructions:

Open the game and start a mission.
Open the Steam overlay and go to the controller tab.
Switch the layout (use the WASD layout or download a new one). (I used this one: steam://controllerconfig/286690/1198450528)
After that, adjust the movement sensitivity from the in-game menu.
Alternative method:

Open the controller tab.
Click "Edit Layout," then go to the "Joystick" tab.
Set the left joystick to "Directional Pad."
Assign the movement commands to W, A, S, D and set L-click to Shift.

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work for the Steam controller

Hey, that small fix helped, thank you! Never thought of this.
The "controller input forced off" method disables non Microsoft controllers, so this fix here was my only hope as a ps4 pad user. :bigjohn:

This sounds extremely weird, but how do I fix this on a Gamecube controller? I'm using the Switch remake of it so Steam thinks it's a Switch Pro controller.

I've had this issue with a few games, including one I've currently started playing called Smoke and Sacrifice. While the method described on this page DID NOT fix the issue - in fact, it made it worst with this particular game - the suggestion to turn off Steam controller support that wiCKed Redeemer brought up did fix the problem. In previous games, I also just went into Steam's controller configuration screen and chose to use the standard Gamepad template instead of the Steam controller that the game defaulted to.

So if anyone is having problems with left stick drift and not using a Steam controller, I'd recommend either using a standard Gamepad template in the Steam Controller screen, or just choosing the "Forced Off" option for Steam Input Per-Game Setting.

Just wanted to say that wiCKed Redeemers method worked for me. Had to exit the game and reload it, but the controller worked great after putting the setting to forced off and I didn't have to change any controller configuration.
