Working Casement Glass Windows [0.7]

Description
Working Medieval-style casement windows, with transparent diamond-shaped glass & latch system

*** UPDATE Oct 1, 2018: Fully 0.6.4 compliant ***

This mod would not have been possible without CESky's amazing detective work, figuring out just what is needed to make glass work in Medieval Engineers. And without his generosity at making his source files available to study & learn from. Thank you TONS, CESky.

This comes in seven varieties:
-- Static square shape for wooden-wall windows
-- Static round-topped shape for stone-wall windows.
-- Working, animated square
-- Working, animated roundtop
-- Working, animated roundtop for small curved wall
-- Working, animated roundtop for left & right large curved wall

Here's the square window in action:

And the round-top working:

*** The windows for the round stone walls can be tricky. See the photo above with the description of the best way to fit it in with no headaches!! ***

These windows can be used along with the shutter (but note that on the working wooden version you can get some silly behavior). They are all Survival-ready. The window introduces two new components to the game: Rough Sand and Basic Glass. The steps for making the window are as follows:

1: Grind 3 small stones at a grindstone to make Rough Sand.
2: Use Rough Sand and 4 Flax Straws in a furnace to create Basic Glass.
3: Use Basic Glass and Metal Parts at the crafting table to make the window!

The Flax Straws are meant to stand in for the "soda ash" that was used as a flux for Medieval glass-makers. It helps the glass flow and form properly. The glass panes themselves are imperfect and tinted, reflecting the Medieval process & the limits of technology at the time.

I hope you all enjoy these windows as much as I enjoyed making them.

Hi. I'm glad you like the mod. Sadly I am not modding for the game anymore. After 0.7 it doesn't play well on my computer and everything is much more frustrating than it used to be to create. But if someone else would like to create an additional mod that adds those, that sounds like a great idea.

like it, but is there any chance to get Windows for the "House Half Stone Double Windows"? (found in Treasure, very large Window for a Stone Wall)

Hey Xelthia. I worked on those windows soooo many hours, trying to balance the transparency vs the ability to actually see the colored Medieval glass. Part of the issue is that the game registers sunlight and torchlight very differently. So any choice I make to optimize one will really screw it up for others. Short answer, no, sorry, those windows are as they are!

is there a way to make the windows more transparent? :)

Hi buntfalke. I don't know what may have happened. I haven't many any changes to the mod in 9 months, and the game software hasn't been updated since then either. Unfortunately the 0.7 version of the game came with a lot of strange bugs, and this might be one of them. I'm sorry that it's affecting the windows for you, that's no fun.

Hello, nice mod - i really like it.

I have a question:
I would like to use these "windows to open" in squared windows with shutters.
Here i can only use it opening to outside.
I would like to use it reverse - opening to inside.
That is because in higher buildings i can only operate them from inside.
When both shutters and windows open outside, i can only shut one of them, not both.
Month ago these "windows to open" could be build in both directopns.
What happened?

Thank you, buntfalke77
