Heavy Possession based tactic with enough risk/reward to play on any occassion

Background.

What you will find on the workshop are tactics that offer the Barcelona Tiki-Taka style of play with every midfielder having over 100 passes and the team having over 70% of the ball. Thats all well and good but it has an issue for mid/low level teams trying to play astecically pleasing football and actually producing results. This tactic tries to address that and I have had success. So, im looking to share this with the community and develop the tactic and the theory over the course of this years game.

This guide is a reworking of my famous iteration on FM14. (Which is still the most popular on the Workshop)
The theories and implementation are exactly the same reguardless which version of Football Manager you are playing. The tactic, is timeless.

This version was developed live on stream. If you wish to get involved with this, please follow me on Twitch here: http://www.twitch.tv/the_reckonist

What you will see.

As with standerd Tiki-Taka tactics, High Possession, High Percentage pass completion, and 'Sexy Football' But, what you will also see is that even with teams with the less than a perfect setup will be performing well and, most importantly for people playing posession football every week, creating enough goal scoring chances to justify the style.

High Pass completion in the Midfield (Average of 85%)
High Defensive Line.
Interesting use of Inverted WIng Back.
RWB able to bomb forward.
Low direct scoring from setplays
Football which is pleasing to look at and get results against teams of similar and lower quality.
Tough time outplaying really strong teams.

Team Makeup

As this is a tactic for the slightly less technically gifted teams that wish to play 'good' football it is important to recognise that you DONT have worldclass players at your club that will be able to play like Barcelona and produce results like Barcelona. But there is one thing every team can generate to be the same as Barcelona. Tactical Familiarity. I suggest that you learn ONLY this tactic at the start of the Season and Training should be all about Team Cohesion and Teamwork until your team can play this with their eyes closed.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Key Attributes and PPM's per position.

Again, I know your not able to click your fingers and buy Xavi for your team but 'try' to get players who fit the roles with AT LEAST one of the required PPM's in each position and have them learn the missing ones asap.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tactical Tips:

If your looking to hold onto a Lead or counter a powerful team. Don't change the formation or roles unless needed but switch Strategy to Attack, Drop Deeper, Pass into space and More Direct Passing and Run at Defence.

Need to hold on for 10 mins? Shout CONCENTRATE MORE

If you find yourself haveing 'too much' possession and struggling to score, have the team Express Themselves more.

More than 66% possession? Click "More Direct Passes" and "Slightly Deeper" (This means the other team isnt pressing you)
Other team hitting you on the counter? click play "Slightly Wider"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Set Pieces:
My set pieces are set to short with strong emphasis on ball retension. So, CB stay back at all times and corners will be short to a supporting wide player. Keep it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Opposition Instructions:
To me, it seems like madness to have OI's set in stone. Every match you play is against a different team with different formations, strengths and weaknesses. I alter OI's before every game. See the video linked above for my #1 OI tip which I tend to do every game.

hi there! can you switch the duties of two center backs? i've got a left-footed ball playing defender and barely have anyone that can play as bpd and right footed right now

Prolly best to watch the streams I do Fazed. If you are expecting to use a formation and win the league without having familiarity, morale and the players for it, you're gonna struggle. Im live at 19:00gmt. Come see how we use it! www.twitch.tv/the_reckonist :soccerball:

this formation sturggles so badly when you come up vs half decent sides, poor defending, cant win the ball, cant keep the ball just not working at all for me very mix results very inconsistant

Thank you! It has slightly improved for me with this version. You are right about that. Maybe my top striker is the problem at this moment because he is really complacent most of the times XD. Anyway, it's really an amazing tactic. And it helped me win allot of prices. Keep it up!

@Unknown You're describing problems that were an issue in the 17.2 version. The striker not scoring as many has been addressed with a DLF:A and I got Troy Deeney to score 31 in a season doing this. Ive not had those problems with the 17.3 update. As for The wider remark, just click one level WIDER than is listed in the tactic. :soccerball:

It's an amazing tactic! I've been using it since I found on FM2016. Thank you so much.

I just have 2 questions. First is what do you mean with click play ''Slightly Wider''? because the tactic is already on ''Fairly Wider''. Do you mean click ''Fairly Narrow'' ? Also my striker always has trouble scoring with this tactic. My midfielders and inside forwards score allot but my striker never does that much. No matter who I put on that position. He normaly gets a low score too. Its not a big problem because I still win matches but is there maybe anything I can do to make my striker get some goals sometimes?

So far 4 games into my new seasons as Arsenal using this tactic, only brought in Origi and Ginter in the transfer window but we're scoring and remaining solid at the back and just blitzed Bayern 3-0 - tactic is working great so far, 4 wins from 4
