Sundered Love - Thieves' Guild for the lawful good

Description
If you don't mind petty theft, extortion, and pledging your soul to a Daedric Lord, this mod is NOT for you. It is strictly for the goody-two-shoes among us.

This mod gives you both the motivation and the means to pursue the Thieves' Guild's main quest line without compromising your character's integrity. And it does so without modifying the Thieves' Guild quests or dialog in any way.

To start this quest requires two actions on your character's part. You must become an Agent of Mara by completing the Book Of Love quest (available from Dinya Balu in Riften's Temple of Mara), and you must turn down Brynjolf's scheme to frame Brand-Shei for stealing Madesi's ring. If you've already accepted Bryjolf's offer and tried to frame Brand-Shei, this quest will not fire in your game. If you've already done Book of Love and turned Brynjolf down, then this quest will still work.

The quest starts when you find that someone has slipped a note into your pocket. Read it and follow the instructions. The quest markers will guide you.

As she did in the Book of Love quests, Mara will once again ask you to unite two lovers - but this time it won't be a simple matter. Because you are now an Agent of Mara, Mara herself will provide you with both the moral and material assistance you'll need to avoid compromising your integrity.

You will be given a copy of a prayer to Mara. Carry it with you and open it if you feel you need her assistance. You are not prompted - it's up to you to decide when you need help.

Your reward for all of this? A big fat ATTABOY from Mara. And you get to keep your integrity. Of course, you may acquire some material wealth in the course of pursuing the Thieves' Guild main quest line...

@sharazad: You can never be sure with this quirky system, but I will say that I did not touch a single line of any part of the Thieve's Guild quest line. I've played enough TES and Fallout to have had experiences similar to yours, and most of those I write off to timing issues within the engine itself. They frequently have event "A" waiting for event "B" but event "B" already fired and so event "A" never happens. This is why reloading from earlier saves often makes problems go away.

For the most part, this has been a very good, very stable mod. However, at two points, characters have simply locked up and left me unable to talk to them and progress the quest.
1. Towards the end of "Dampened Spirits", after Mara takes the poison away and offers to give Commander Caius "mild digestive discomfort" when he drinks the mead. The mead-tasting scene progresses right up to the point where Caius is about to take a drink, but he never actually does, and all three NPCs in the room are stuck standing around. I had to manually progress the quest via console to get anywhere.
2. Towards the end of "Hard Answers", after giving Enthir the Falmer Translation Guide. Instead of going over to put it on the table, he simply stands there, as does Karliah. I had to finish the quest via console, which unfroze them both and automatically gave me a Nightingale Blade. Talking to Karliah before she left the room netted me a second Nightingale Blade.

Oh, I would rather not fiddle with the game's scripts to much anyway. It is hard to find good mods that don't cause ctd every 2 minutes, or conflicts with other mods and cause ctd every 2 minutes. I unsub'd because I just don't like the thugs guild. I normally setessential (bryn id) 0 and murder him before he can give me the quest to join. You know wasted space in the quest log and all that. This is a great mod, keep up the good work.

@litlbummer: My roleplay take on the Riften reaction is that Bryjolf bragged that they'd paid up and you got them to do it. If anything, they like you less for that than if you'd actually made them pay.
Truth is, I didn't modify ANY of the game's scripts to make this mod, but I'd have had to modify them to make those folks NOT dislike you. Didn't want to do that.

@barry, Im going to leave it at that and I will continue my way of thinking. Although some of that info was useflul :)

I was a little disappointed that the three people in Rifton still seemed to hate me, even though I read the letter and didn't talk to them about their debt. It was nice to keep Brand-shei (spelling) out of prison. Very cool mod.

@litlbummer: No DLC required.

You didn't say any dlc was required, but you also didn't say no dlc required. Safe to assume it works without Dawnguard?

Well I don't want to beat the subject to death here. The premise of the mod is that the aedra are generally benevolent whereas the daedra are generally not. Agreed, it's muddy. But if I were looking for aid from one of these I'd try Mara before I'd try Molog Bal.

Actually the only real difference between the Aedra and the Daedra is that the Aedra are eternal not immortal because Lorkain (not sure if I'm spelling his name right right now.) tricked the Aedra into giving up their immortality to create Nirn. They tore him to pieces after that, leaving on the heart of lorkain, which caused the Dwemer to become extinct in the later centries. Because they lost their immortality while they can still live forever, they can possibly be killed. Other than that there is no difference between the Aedra and the Daedra.
