DG's Reshade Preset
By HReissM
Preset description:
This Reshade 3.0 preset uses a combination of multiple shader effects and although I do not experience any performance degradation on my system, yours may vary.
My aim was to enhance the game's sunlight effect and rework the color palette while at the same time improving texture details without sacrificing the shadows. As you can see from the included images, there is a huge difference between heavily sun-lit and shadowed areas - I wanted them to remain dark. However, you might have to adjust your Monitor / TV calibration's setting accordingly; as I created this preset with how mine is set up.

Reshade version 3.0.6 and Nvidia Profile Inspector version 2.1.3.4 are being used with the following settings:

In-game AA set to 8
In-game AO set to OFF
Inspector Settings as follows:
AA Combined (Mode + Setting) -Enhance 8x MSAA + 8x TrSSAA
AA Mode -Enhance the Application
AA Setting -8xQ [8x Multisampling]
AA Transparency Multisampling -Enabled
AA Transparency Supersampling -8x Supersampling

Also make sure to force 16x Anisotropic filtering with Inspector as well and Ambient Occlusion set to High Quality

Reshade installation guide:

1. Download the latest Reshade from https://reshade.me/
2. Run the program and click on the "Select Game" option.
3. Navigate to and select your NieR Automata executable on the Steam folder.
4. Once selected, click on "Direct3D 10+" and let the program install all the files.
5. Download my preset from https://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/6993/
6. IMPORTANT: Once downloaded go ahead and rename it to wathever you want with the extension ".ini". Example: "MyPreset.ini"
7. Now take that preset and move/copy it to the Steam folder where the game's executable is.
8. Launch the game, press Shift + F2, follow the prompts and select the preset from the drop down list.
9. Continue following the prompts until the Preset goes live. Done!

3/30/17 - New Release
Changelog:
1. Updated the AdaptiveSharpen effect for improved texture
clarity and details. Overall, made a huge graphical improvement.
2. Included the Depth of Field (DOF) effect for those that would like to use it.
However be advised, the in-game AntiAliasing setting must be set to OFF for the DOF effect to work.

I really love this preset, thank you for sharing. Still early into the game but constantly in awe and I totally understand the need for maximizing AA/SS because it makes all of the little details and decals pop. Cannot wait to see later game locations lol

Hey, looks awesome but I still have some problems- For example, what do you mean with "AA Combined (Mode + Setting) -Enhance 8x MSAA + 8x TrSSAA"? I haven't found the option in Nvidia Profile Inspector. And how to deactivate the in-game Ambient Occlusion? ("In-game AO set to OFF"). Those two are the problems I still have to figure out. Thank you in advance.

Yes this can be used alongside FAR. However extra steps are needed to configure both correctly.

Hi! Thanks for the nice preset. But can it be used in conjunction with FAR? FAR has its own way of enabling reshade and I'm wondering if it will interfer with the usual reshade installation process. Also, I turned off AA completely, but I noticed you advised for x8. Will it impact the final result significantly?

@Legacy188,

Yes, there is.

Is there a way to uninstall this?

@wolfito69

Yes, this preset includes a Depth of Field effect for people that would like to try it out. It activates automatically when you set the in-game Anti aliasing setting to OFF. Otherwise, to turn the effect off, you can either turn the in-game AA setting to any ON value or manually disabling the DOF effect under the Reshade options. (Press Shift+F2, find Dof, uncheck it).
