What's Flux?
Flux is a valuable material in Trove, both as a marketplace currency as well as being able to upgrade your items.

Unlike other materials, you cannot mine flux, making it a very infuriating ordeal to try and farm for, but some kind samaritans like myself, expose the techniques used by high level players to get rich quick.

So let's cut the chit-chat and get into flux farming.
Farming Tactics #1 - Nature Is Rich
Are you ready to begin your journey in flux farming?

Neither am I.

As you may or may not know, there are specific days in Trove that increase certian chances;
  • Monday: Harvesting - 40% increase
  • Tuesday: Ore Day - 50% increase
  • Wednesday: Gem Boxes - 25% increase
  • Thursday: Adventure Loot - 200% increase
  • Friday: Shard Day - 100% increase
  • Saturday: Adventure XP - 50% increase
  • Sunday: Arena Win XP - 50% increase

The most imortant days are in bold, while Harvesting is italicized, and I'll explain why in a bit.

Ores

Ore day is VERY important if you want to make flux while mining for materials. Becides having a 50% increase in each ore block you mine, wait no, that's the only reason. A trick I like to use on ore day is to make bombs and go blow up the ores I find.

3 bombs are made up of:
  • 1 Primordial Flame
  • 10 Shapestone Ore

You can find veins of Primordial Flames in about 3-5 ore blocks, which should take two bombs to full destroy. One bomb destroys in an average 5x5x3 blast radius (Hight, width, and depth), so make sure you aim with your bombs before you throw more than needed.

The reasoning behind this is that with the 50% increase in mining of ores, you can make back what you crafted in bombs and more!. Just be smart as you do this, as it can lead into a big loss if you just throw bombs wildly.

A way around this is to get a dragon that flies and throws up bombs. Yes, a Dragon that throws up bombs destroys the terrian and provides the same yeild of materials as a regular bomb being thrown (assuming you know how to aim). The only downfall of this broken technique is that you have to be flying on the dragon in order to shoot a bomb, so you better learn how to jump and fly in a span of 1 second.

(Hint: Hold space in the air and click to shoot the bomb)

Currently the market price for ores is as follows:

(ore:flux ratio)
(average bulk price)

  • Shapestone: 1:10-28~
  • Shapestone Bulk: 3~ each
  • Formicite: 1:2-10~
  • Formicite Bulk: 2~ each
  • Infinium: 1:50~
  • Infinium Bulk: 14~
  • Primordial Flame: 1:50-100~
  • Primordial Flame Bulk: 30~ each
  • Glacial Shard (still technically an ore): 1:45-95~
  • Glacial Shard Bulk: 50~ each
  • Crystallized Cloud: 1:7-16~
  • Crystallized Cloud Bulk: 3~ each
  • Golden Soul: 1:300-700~
  • Golden Soul Bulk: 450~ each
  • Somber Soul: 1:150-300~
  • Somber Soul Bulk: 150-300~ each

(bulk prices vary based on how much someone is selling the item.
ex. Someone might sell 3000 formicite at 2 flux each, whole someone might sell the 9999 formicite at 2 flux each.)

Shards

Now that ores are done with, it's time for shard day.

Shard day is a day that you will recieve an increase in Radiant Shard collection. In order to collect radiant shards however, you need a power level of at least 900 and a nice pair of wings. Once you have that, you are able to join one of two portals:

  1. Hub Sky Portal
  2. Club Sky Portal

I HIGHLY recommend you find a club that is willing to accept new people, and has a sky portal.

The Hub Sky Portal is for gem boxes, which is another guide someone should do, but nonetheless, the Hub Sky portal has both regular dungeons, as well as Dark Hearts (What you need to gain radiant shards), but not as common.

In the Club Sky Portal, it's ONLY Dark Hearts, which makes it easier to collect radiant shards.

What is a Dark Heart?

Dark Heart is not Heart of Darkness, those are two different things.

A Dark Heart is special type of dungeon that allows you to collect as many shards as you can, by breaking open boxes.

It's recommend that you join a Shard Farming Group, considering it's near impossible to collect it all by yourself at a low Power Rank.

(shard:flux ratio)

  • Radiant Shard: 1:10-75~
  • Radiant Shard Bulk: 4.8~ each

BE WARNED The enemies in the Club Sky Portal are MUCH stronger than you, do not engage soilder! (Unless you like to lose magic find, then go for it.)

Harvesting

Harvesting is usually an odd look on how to farm for flux, due to there being a low demand for it, but still a demand.

Blah blah blah, increase in rate you get it, but what differs harvesting from mining or shard collecting, is that you can actually make farms!

Crazy right?

You can make a garden in both your conerstone as well as your club world. The downside to gardening is that it takes real time to make, so it's a long time investment. There are some ways items you can find in the over world, and for that I recommend the Waypoints mod, as it reveals collectables on the ground, such as bottles, mushrooms, etc...

I'm not sure all of the gardening items, as I've never gotten into it, so excuse me if I miss your favorite plant or something.

(plant:flux ratio)
(s = seasonal item, prices could change)

  • Mushroom Chunk: 1:30~
  • Mushroom Chunk Bulk: 7-12~ each
  • Bottle: 1:233-500~
  • Bottle Bulk: 35-50~ each
  • Wild Cupcake: 1:350~
  • Wild Cupcake Bulk: 100-200~ each
  • Enchanted Wood: 1:50-100~
  • Enchanted Wood Bulk: 30-70~ each
  • Sunlight Bulb: 1:10-15~
  • Sunlight Bulb Bulk: 9~ each
  • Chestnut(s): 1:250~
  • Chestnut(s) Bulk: 135~ each
  • Pumpkin: 1:699~
  • Pumpkin Bulk: 80~ each
  • Steed Feed: 1:30-80~
  • Steed Feed Bulk: 25~ each
  • Spring Bloom(s): 1:27-60~
  • Spring Bloom(s) Bulk: 27-60~ each
Farming Tactics #2 - Loot Collection
Mining not really your thing?

Or maybe you got so good at it you need another way to make flux?

Whatever the reason welcome to the Loot Collection side of flux farming. Due to the nature of the loot collector now, I can only give a broad estimate of how much you can make.

As you know, there is a block called the Loot Collector, and it deconstructs your loot into items such as Eyes of Q'bthulhu, as well as flux. If you're someone who rather do dungeons, this is a good way to make flux.

First of all, clear out your inventory, you want to make sure that you can carry as much crap- I mean future flux as you can. Do dungeons normally, but make sure you collect items from the chests at the end.

"But Ziny, my Shadow 3 Bow is much better than this Uncommon bow." - Some Dumbass

I never said you were going to use that bow, you're going to deconstruct it to get the yummy flux inside it. Think of it like... twix candy!

Outside is an okay wrapper, doesn't bother anyone really, but once you open that, it's heaven in your mouth.

OOOooooooh yeah....
Twix can---

Oh right the guide.

So after you fill up your inventory with items, go deconstruct it, and prepare for okay loot! The good thing about this tactic is that you level up as well, which allows you to get into higher worlds (assuming you also imporve your PR), which allows you to collect stronger items, which allows you to make more flux at the loot collector.

Since each weapon varies on rarity, level, favorite shade of green, etc... the numbers I'm going to provide are estimations.

(assuming that you have a full inventory and no inventory expansions)
  • Common Items: >40 flux
  • Uncommon Items: 40 flux~
  • Rare Items:
  • Legendary Items: 225 flux~
  • Relic Items:
  • Respledent Items:
  • Shadow Items: 1400 flux~
  • Radiant Items: 48000 flux~
  • Stellar:
Farming Tactics #3 - Shadow Towers
The big hit or miss.

Shadow Towers are a big investment of time and effort, for a payout that's not that great, or a payout that'll set you up for a while. Due to the nature of Shadow Towers, I won't be able to give an estimate on how much flux you'll make, just know it's between 1 - 50k+ flux.

So what is a Shadow Tower?

A Shadow Tower is a place where -insert lore-

And that's why we have to kill a Celestial Being. But stepping away from the lore of things, it's a series of 3 challenging dungeon types, followed by a boss battle (4 in total).

There are 4 types of bosses, Spike Walker, Weeping Prophet, Pinata God, and Daughter of the Moon, in that order. There are also three different types of difficultes, Normal (uber 2-3), Hard (uber 6-7), and Ultra (Uber 8-9).

But enough about the bosses, you guys wanna know about the loot.

At the end of each boss battle, you are greeted with a locked chest. How do you open said chest? By getting Keys of course! But first you need gems to craft the keys. You can get gems
in different ubers, but make sure you know what key you need since there are three different keys, one for each difficulty.

Normal = Shadow Key
(Gems Found in any Uber lower than 6)
Hard = Moon Key
(Gems Found in Uber 6 - 7)
Ultra = Eclipse Key
(Gems Found in Uber 7+)

Got your key now? Good!

Now you're going to want to find a Shadow Tower group (ST) for short, as attempting to solo a Shadow Tower when you're not that high of a PR, is stupid, don't do that.

It's not hard, just ask some friends, or stangers, or keep an eye out for people inviting for STs.

Once you battle your way to the locked chest, simply use the key near it and prepare for some cool stuff, like Shadow Shards (which only drops for normal dungeons and is effected by Shard day), or Shadow Caches. You can turn Shadow Shards into Shadow Caches by crafting them at the Shadowy Market.

Shadow Caches usually have Flux, Eyes of Q'bthulhu, or Tentacle of Q'bthulhu. You can get other items, but don't count on it, as their drop rates in Shadow Cases are quite low.
Farming Tactics #4 - Trades
Now for some real strats to make some flux.

There is a chat (/join trade) where everyone and anyone who trades goes here. You can trade items for items, or items for flux. This is where you go if you want to get rid of that Radiant Bow (like come on, everyone's asking for that right now), and make some nice flux. The problem with this is that not everyone is willing to pay the same price, so you have to find the average price for items.

This is a good way to make money if you have lots of items with no character to go to, and know how to sell.

Some common lingo you should know:

WTS = Want To Sell
WTB = Want To Buy
WTT = Want to Trade
LF = Looking For
/w me = Whisper to the person
x:y = The ratio of which someone sells a product. (ex. "WTS Formacite 1:25 flux" which means they're selling one formacite ore for 25 flux each)
Farming Tactics #5 - Buying and Resell
Please read the entire section before attempting this tactic

Look at your keyboard and find that pesky "U" key.

It's right there.

no, right by the "Y" key...
that's a "T"...

There!

While in Trove, go ahead and give that little key a push, and a whole new side of flux has increased.

The Marketplace is where you can sell and buy pretty much anything, with the exceptions being things that can't be traded. The Market is where people can list items for a specific price, and buyers looking for that item, can decided if they want to pay that much for that item.

It makes sense in context.

Let's assume you already get the jest of the Marketplace, then why am I expanding the market into it's own section? I wanted to give more insight to buying and selling items through the market.

This section is NOT for new players, you're going to need to put flux down to get started. If you're just looking for a tactic where you don't have to put down that much flux, scroll up.

So what do I mean by buying and selling?

Buying

As you know, the marketplace is an everchanging place, with prices going up and down. When buying, you want to anticipate when the market drops in price for that item.

Example:

9 AM - Shapestone: 100:25~ flux
11 AM - Shapestone: 100:70~ flux
3 PM - Shapestone: 100:45~ flux
9 PM - Shapestone: 100:35~ flux

Just seeing the above as an example, you can see that 9 AM had the best price for Shapestone, so you would've wanted to stockup during that time. A more experienced buyer already has an idea on how much certian items buy or sell for during what time of day, which days are cheaper than others.

For example, on Tuesday, expect to see a drop in price on ores due to it being double ore day, and wait until an hour after kids get out of school, so they have a chance to go collecting and market the items.

But before you buy, MAKE NOTE OF HOW MUCH YOU BOUGHT AND HOW MUCH YOU BOUGHT. This tactic is partly paper and math, so make sure you're ready to do such when taking on this task.

But now that you've wasted all your flux on Shapestone, now what?

Selling

Using that paper from earlier, here's where you should be.

Paper Listing:
  • What you bought
  • How much you bought
  • How much did you buy it for

ex.

Item
Quantity
Price
Shapestone
438
25 flux
Shapestone
6708
23 flux
Formacite
325
40 flux

Assume you still have all those items and didn't use it, you're now going to want to sell those items at a good price that allows you to make profit, as well as not rip other people off.

Using the prices above, here's an example of how much you should try to make back.
Assuming you just bought Shapestone at 25 flux a piece, and you bought 438, you have a total of 10,950 flux spent.

P*Q=F
(Price * Quanity = Flux Spent)

Now you know how much you spent, you're going to want to wait until the market is high on demand for shapestone, and you want to sell it then, but DON'T sell it all at once. No one's going to want to buy a lot of Shapestone when it's goes for 40 flux each.

Example.

10,950 is what we want to make.

If we take the 438 shapestone, and divide it into, let's say 130 and market that at 37 flux (assuming the currently demmand for shapestone is low 40s), then use our formula from earlier, then we can see how much we make.

37*130=4,810 flux

But Ziny, I paid 10,950 flux!
YOU'VE LIED TO ME YOU PIECE OF DIRT!!!1!111!!

Well, if you were smart enough to remeber to save the other 308 shapestone ore, you would know that you've made 43% percent of your money back from selling 30% of your product back!

Now for times sake, let's assume you sold the rest at the same price;

37*438=16,206 flux

That's a 6k profit for just shapestone.

Now the problem with this tactic, is that it's always a hit or miss, of trying to wait for the best market to buy or sell. Start small, and work you way up once you get the hang of it.
Extra Tips
  • Patron passes are your friend! (They Increase the daily bonus for you!)
  • During a Shadow Tower, if you know that someone is a strong class, don't turn into the class so you can match, it takes away bonuses and makes it harder to clear STs. (Only for Hardmode and up)

Closing Thoughts
Well, I hope that you, the dear reader, learned some new things and are ready to beging farming for flux in Trove.

If anything in this guide is incorrect, please leave a comment, and I'll add/edit/remove infomation accordingly.

This guide is being run by one person (me), and I currently have other stuff going on in my life. I have a YouTube channel to keep running, I mean, who else is going to burn a cantaloupe on camera?

Thanks to TaoismDeepLake for give the idea to make a Buying and Resell section.

Very useful for begginers. I suggest you add using *NOT BUYING* TItans tresure as it can bring alot flux

I did check the prices before putting this up, but I believe I had "Sort by Unit Price" checked without noticing it.

Prices have been updated, as well as bulk pricing being added.

Try introducing using the market, buy in low and sell high.
Well, the price list... nvr mind.

Ahh... Did you even check the prices of ores before putting this up? Or did you just copy-paste a guide and put it in here?
