Reviving Wallbangs: Dust2
Background:
Wallbanging in CS:GO is much trickier and situational than in previous Counter-Strike titles. However, with the right wallbang spots and a little game sense, this classic tactic is still very viable. Spammable spots featured on Dust2 include boxes, doors, curbing and corners. The optimal weapons for penetrating surfaces are sniper rifles due to their high damage and penetration. Getting a headshot with a sniper rifle is fatal, the following screenshots all mark the headshot positions. Aiming slightly lower for a body shot will deal less damage, but may be preferable when landing a shot is a priority. When wallbanging with an assault rifle the damage will be significantly reduced, so it is only ideal when you are close enough to spray down the position. SMGs and pistols will deal little or no damage depending on the material and thickness.

Elevator Wallbang:
Elevator is a common position for CTs to fall back to during an A Long execute or to move up to during a retake. After taking control of A site, the CTs holding A Ramp can be real pests. Taking out a player on CT Ramp can be highly advantageous as it weakens the CT Ramp retake position. Without firepower in CT ramp, this can effectively shift focus to the longer range Cat and Long positions, requiring more time and utility for the CTs. This wallbang is feasible with any sniper rifle.

T-Spawn Wallbangs:
This is wallbang can result in an early kill on a T-Spawn Awper with little opportunity of being traded. Killing a Terrorist Awper early in the game greatly cripples their map control, utility and firepower. Playing 5v4 this early in the round should be a clinch too close out as long as players follow up on trade kills. The most common positions for the Terrorists to camp are on the far right standing or crouched, and in the center standing. Pay attention to the Terrorist Awper's tendencies throughout the game and wallbang accordingly. Headshots are lethal, body shots will deal roughly half damage.

Corner & Tunnel Wallbangs:
If you have given up site, or rotated from mid late, you can hit Terrorists exiting the Tunnel using this wallbang. Aiming below a nearby stud will also land a perfect headshot on a player standing in corner. Unlike the Car box wallbang, this spot can be spammed with assault rifles as well. With an AWP this deals a whopping 75 damage, with an AK 8 damage per shot.

Door Wallbangs:
Hiding behind a door is a strong position to play. The ideal way to spam this is by shooting close to the edge of the door as demonstrated in Figure 9. Players can tuck farther into a corner than it may seem. When using an assault rifle to spam doors be aware of the penetration angle. Shooting perpendicular to the door will deal the most damage as the path through the material is shorter (and it will not reduce the damage as much). This wallbang applies for all door positions on the map. Just like in the previous wallbang, an AK will deal 8 damage, an AWP 75 damage.

Container Wallbangs:
Container is a common position for Terrorists to become trapped behind after pushing long doors. This shot is easy to land and even if it does not find a kill, it may at least scare them out of the corner. When using this wallbang, note that the ground behind the container is slightly higher so aiming level to the ground will actually land a body shot. Any sniper rifle will fully penetrate this container and is lethal upon a headshot.

Cat Wallbang:
Cat is a common area for CTs to take control of at the beginning of a round. From Cat, many parts of the map can be accessed since it protrudes so deep into CT territory. Taking control of Cat will give your team many options later in the round. Anywhere within the red lines will penetrate into Cat. In Figure 13, the green line is the furthest headshot position for CTs hugging the wall. Aim higher for closer CTs. This can also be applied to wallbang stairs as in Figure 14. These wallbangs only work with sniper rifles. For reference, an AWP in this position deals 64 damage.

Car Box Wallbang:
Finding an opening pick during a retake can be difficult against disciplined enemies. Car is a very common post plant spot for a Terrorist to hold. Clearing out Car during a split retake can effectively destroy the powerful Door/Window crossfire. Without this crossfire, the remaining half of B-site is isolated. This wallbang is tricky, but the high reward makes it worth including. Note that this wallbang is only effective with sniper rifles as both doors must be penetrated. With an AWP this deals 40 damage.
