Bell UH-1D Iroqouis "Huey"

Description
Block count: 243

This is the Bell UH-1 "Huey". It is a two-bladed utility helicopter.

The two-bladed rotor is a so called semi-rigid rotor, which means that the two rotor blades are connected through a hinge that allows them to flap in order to counter dissymmetry of lift. It is simple in design but it does cause some vibrations.

I strive to make all my helicopters realistic in terms of looks and mechanisms, and to make them robust and easy to fly.

Update 2.0: Minor overall improvements. Better balanced in forward fight. Black windows instead of yellow (I'm not really sure what looks best)

Update 3.0: Major facelift. Tail boom is narrower and the fuselage is not as tall. It looks closer to the real uh-1 now. Olive green color instead of pine green. Added sling hook. Improved flight characteristics and reduced vibrations.

Update 4.0: New semi-rigid rotor system. The flapping hinge of the new rotor system is now centered with the pitch hinges, compared to the other where the flapping hinge was placed below. Less vibration. Doesn't take off immediatily when turning on the engine. Improved sling hook.

Controls:

Engine start: 1

Collective: I,K (Makes the helicopter go up and down)

Pitch/Roll: Arrow keys (Pitch makes the nose go up and down, roll makes the helicopter move from side to side)

Yaw: J,L (Turns the helicopter)

Doors: P

Sling hook: U, O

Grabber: Y

Camera: F

Key words: Helicopter Swashplate Realistic

That is Neutex's Rah-66, and that one isn't constant speed, which is not realistic but very easy to build

look at Shade's RAH-66
the tail rotors do look similar
if not then that is ok i just picked this as a good referance for a middle range helicopter
easyer to control than the chinnoks but more functions that the Bell and heuy

Look at its tail rotor. The rotor itself is embedded into the tailboom and there are 11 blades. Compare that the to simple two-bladed tail rotor of the UH-1 Huey. A realistic tail rotor uses variable pitch. However, that requires hinges, braces and pistons. But I guess I could just cheat a little and use variable speeds
