Energy Kiosks and Main Power Switchs
By Leonihtus
Energy Kiosks/Power Systems and all about them
(Note things could change during Early Access. I will do the best of my Capabilites to keep it up to date with new info and changes.)
This is all about Energy Kiosks, those glowing stands you see early on and about on areas you find. That and Main Power Switchs, the link to Energy Kiosks. I'll be going a in depth of these strange machines scattered across Eden!

Energy Kiosks
The means of lighting the way! (P.S I know they are "Power Switchs" but I will use the term Energy Kiosks for differentiating them from the Main Power Switchs)
These are Energy Kiosks (As I like to call them). They will provide you 3 things, depending on their status.
  • Power to Stations (The mini kiosk stores you can find scattered across the city)
  • Main Lights (The core of the area that surrounds you, they will provide ample lighting for vision and bring the area to life)
  • Emergency Lights (The lesser version of Main Lights, only stripes of certain light fixtures and guideways will be still glowing, better then pure darkness however.)
Now that you know what the can provide, here are the settings you can choose from.
  • Standard (Stations ON Main Power ON Emergency Power OFF
  • Emergency (Stations ON Main Power OFF Emergency Power ON
  • Shutdown (Stations OFF Main Power OFF Emergency Power OFF
Now, these are self explanatory to what they mean but, they are important for one main reason. Power usage.

Power Usage is displayed on the bottom of the Kiosk, showing how much percentage and time remaining with the current setting.
  • Standard will use 100% full power to use the main lights and stations, resulting in a quick drain of power for full use of energy.
  • Emergency will use 50% power for cutting off the main lights for emergency lighting + Stations. This is a more conservative means of extending the power, mainly for the use of stations to buy materials and other items.
  • Shutdown will use 0% because...well there is nothing to be powered. It won't use anything, which is useful if you will not be in the area for long, allowing you to preserve its use for a later time.
That is all with the main Energy Kiosks, now we will be moving onto Repowering them.
Main Power Switch
The means of Refilling energy
That Right there, is a Main Power Switch.
They are found by either exploration or, if you do look closely to an Energy Kiosk that I talked about earlier, it will give directions to the nearest one linked to it.
(What they look like when you're not near enough to start the interface)
So! What are they? Well, in short they can drain and give power to Energy Kiosks. However, these stations contain a slew of information of which I will go by in parts so that each are easily understood. For now, here is a list of parts of what makes up one of these life savers.
  • Total Energy Stores
  • Location
  • District Energy
  • Energy per District
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Main Energy Interface
First off, Total Energy Stores
Eden, the once Utopian like city's storage of energy. This is the entire capability of what it can hold in reserves. Now, don't worry, this is not a limited storage for it does have (I am assuming) Solar panels that do recharge this in which I will explain in a Energy Efficiency.

Location
|| Quite self explanatory but useful info. This will let you know where this station is and to which district it belongs to. Not only that but it gives you a general sense of where you're current at in the big city of Eden, but only a general sense.

District Energy
This section will provide an equal bit of info for the first part of its description. It will tell you how much time is remaining in the district for its power consumption (Depending on what you left it at on the Energy Kiosk). Next is Efficiency, which is as also, the same at what you left at the Energy Kiosk. (Full Power 0%, Emergency saves 50%, Shut Down saves 100%). Lastly, what the status is in the current District Energy Reserves.
Energy per District
This useful info is great for watching and seeing the status of each district's current power status and remaining use left in that area. A great tool to make sure you didn't leave one of the Energy Kiosks running by mistake!

Energy Efficiency
This, is where the fright comes from for some people. "I better use this sparingly, only one time use." Well, thankfully, the solar panels of Eden power the city for even after its catastrophic events. This is what this panel is for, it provides information on how efficient it is gathering energy to restore back into its Total Energy Stores. This is affected by two conditions, first is the current weather status, as of the picture right now, it is sunny, allowing a strong return value of energy for its stores. However, it also has efficiency of how much it is gathering, I will go in more depth on how you can improve that to 100% with Cyano Tubes!
Main Energy Interface
The main purpose of using this station! This will allow two actions for the player (You!) to do.
  • Request Energy
  • Drain Energy
So, how does it work? Well, to the left (The three white bars) that is Eden's Power supply. That will allow you to transfer and watch how much it has (Alongside the earlier interfaces explained). Quick note, both options allow you to either do a Max or normal burst of either draining or requesting/filling. Beneath the Eden supply bars in Red, it will allow you to drain energy to fill up Eden's power storage supply, this may seem bad to remove power from a district but, if in desperate need, you could drain one district to allow that stored power to fill up another sector for its stations and lights.

To the right you can see the current district's power supply (Also on other interfaces as well.) The same rule applies, but this is the important one. You can request energy from the main city to power that district's Energy Kiosk. This allows you to refill its use and keeps your nights bright! Requesting will drain a small portion of the city's energy, unless you do max in which case it will cost more. This is the to refill those wonderful Energy Kiosks.

Important Side Note :You CANNOT transfer energy of one district to another from the same terminal. You will have to manually go to each Main Power Switch Terminal and request it at the respective district. The power has to come from the city, and while you can drain the energy to store it, you have to go to the station to request it specifically for that sector.
Miscellaneous Improvements for Power!
Improvement of quality can help in the long run

(So here is where things get a little Foggy. I know what Cyano tubes do but, I might be wrong on Battery Back Ups. Please let me know if I am so I can fix it right away! ^-^)
Cyano Tube Replacements
This is connected to Energy Efficiency of the Main City's solar panels. So, in the earlier Panel, Energy Efficiency was below 100%, that can be fixed! In the picture above, we have all seen these spread all over the walls of Eden, these are carefully placed in certain areas for the districts. You can fix these with Cyano Tube Repair Kits, which can be found, bought or perhaps in the future crafted (Most likely). Just beware these do take considerable amount of space to carry, so be prepared to make space if you do get one! All you have to do is simple use it and boom! Fixed. What that will do, is boost the efficiency of the power gathered by the area's solar panels for the city, which in turn speeds up how much you can request/fill at the main power stations! So when you get the chance, fix these up! As a suggestion, I recommend using these for your home district where your base will be, it will prove beneficial to have a core area to monitor energy at a great rate.
Battery Backup
From what my knowledge permits, these help improve the longevity of Energy Kiosks in the district. What that means is that, instead of a base 1 or 2 hrs (Depending on the setting) The Back Up's will add even more time to the current energy storage, allowing even longer use of the area's power before it cuts off. To unlock these awesome things, you need a Maintenance Key. This is found by Rare Drop, Bought off a station, or perhaps in the future crafted. Simple and small, these only take 2 blocks of space so, slide it in and enjoy the added storage energy to that district.
That's all!
You've made it!
That is all I know at the time being. I will try and make sure these are all correct and up to date to the best of my capabilities as this wondrous game continues to update.

Random Info
The pictures I took for the Energy Kiosk/Main Power Switch were at the Promenade, the Maintenance Battery was on the 5th..or 6th floor, the medical area near the elevator you first encounter. (Not the 2 story one but the one with 7 floor options.)
The Battery Pic's surrounding HUD does look slightly different because I picked up a purple rare item that is a VR headset. It basically displays a weird on off system of health on the left, energy for abilities on the right, and two other things which I do not recall.

Current Patch is v0.4.0.4

This is my first guide! I hope everyone found it useful and has an awesome day!

(Due to the spaced updates I haven't been up to date for a while, if there are any changes to the power system do let me know so I can update the guide!)

One note. If Energy Efficiency hits 100% in a region, the power will never decay (aside from you burning it with PAMELA abilities) and random power shutdowns stop happening in the area as well.

Areas will have a slightly variable number of breaks in the power grid. Origin Station has the fewest breaches, with that small area only having 1-3 breaks. Most areas have ~5 breaks. I try to make it a personal rule to try and fix the breaks in a region as fast as possible when I start working in the area.

Main power for Arcadia is on the 4th floor in the maintenance room. Along with the back up in a side room. Looks like it'll be a pain as time goes by to get to though due to the nano infection.

Another thing I had noticed recently is that if you repair the cyano leaks the district dosnt fail so often (power to off even when enough energy)
