Aspect Ratios And You [16:9 vs 4:3 vs BB]

The most common video aspect ratio is 16:9, as it is default when you first buy Global Offensive.
Besides 16:9, there is more options such as 4:3 or Black Bars. I will go over some advantages and information of the 3 mainly-used Aspect Ratios.

Aspect Ratios

Difference in aspect ratios, 4:3 vs 16:10 vs 16:9 vs 21:9

(Note: Aspect Ratios is a personal preference. Test them all out, and see which one is better for you!)

16:9

16:9

16:9 is the default option chosen when you buy and play CS:GO.
Advantages:
Unlike 4:3, in 16:9 you are always slow and have time to react. This can help in many situations.

Black Bars

Black Bars

If you play with black bars, you're limiting yourself. You're saying "Oh, I don't need that extra field of view to see."
Advantages:
- If you have a big monitor, this will help you concentrate more as you won't have to scan your whole screen.

4:3 Stretched

4:3

4:3 is basically a stretched 16:9. This has many advantages.
- More FPS (I went from 100 to about 295, really helps if you have bad computer)
- The models are much bigger, so it's easier to aim at (but the game goes faster)

How To Switch Aspect Ratios!

* How to switch to any of these Aspect Ratios?
- Go to "Options" in the main menu
- > Video Settings
- and click on the "Aspect Ratio" button
- You can choose either: 16:9, 16:10, or 4:3 or read down below vv for Black Bars!

How to Get Black Bars!

* How to get BB (black bars), you must have NVIDIA!

Right click on your Desktop Background and press "NVIDIA Control Panel"
Then click on Adjust desktop size and position
Make sure you're on the Full-Screen button and on the "Perform Scaling" button, make it to GPU.
