Description
Hey,
This is our first map.
It is a medium large TTT map in a mineshaft including a canyon
The map also includes a lava jump and run which can be manipulated by the Traitor.
The traitor also can blow up TNT and teleport from the Traitorroom to another room.

A huge thanks to Pukos who builts the map.
The map was ported with Sourcecraft and edited in Hammer by me (KimJongTiramisu)

I hope you have fun with the map.
:)

I've spent upwards of 50 hours a piece on two of the maps I'm most proud of. Being that Source is an older engine, maps created from scratch tend to look aged anyway. For that reason, I feel like using Minecraft textures is an aesthetic choice. Shooting out maps as fast as you can is going to make a bad map no matter what art style you're using. If you're willing to put in the time to add the small details, there's nothing wrong with making Minecraft maps.

I create a lot of geometry in my maps after I've converted it. I consider myself competent with all of the tools within Hammer. I'll agree that using Sourcecraft is a shortcut for brush work, but creating the maps in Minecraft still takes a significant amount of time. You suggest that maps made through Sourcecraft aren't "real maps", I think you'll find that what makes maps worth playing and "real' is the amount of effort put intot them. I also acknowledge there are a lot of people creating maps who want to do the least amount of work possible and have a map on the workshop asap, but I don't fall in that category.

I think you, drybones, misunderstand the amount of time it takes to make a real map compared to a cubic map.

i think a lot of people who hate on Minecraft maps underestimate the amount of time that goes into making the map even using Sourcecraft. also, there's a big part of the community that doesn't have CS:S and its textures so they play Minecraft maps because they're textured. keep up the good work my man. check out my workshop some time if you want to see some stuff from another active Sourcecraft mapper. Don't let these "map purists" get you down. minecraft_b5 is one of the most popular TTT maps ever. You could make the next b5.

Well it is actually good to know that you are learning I made some really bad maps in the past and i guess making it in minecraft is a goos foundation to learn how to use the hammer functions like traitor rooms. I hope you are sucessful at learning and make some better maps in the future. I used to know how to use hammer pretty well but over time I gradually forgot some of it and I hardly have the time to edit maps anymore

I know that a Minecraft map doesn't require much work but for me it was a great beginning to create some blocks like a torch, rails and experiment with explosions and traitor rooms. I like to learning the hammer editor. It was not enough for me to convert a Minecraft map so I decided to learn more about it and now I'm building that house to create a "real" Map. But sometimes People don't need this super good looking Maps. I like to play on this "orange" Maps in CS:GO too and since I'm working with the editor I know that they didn't require much effort. But if a map makes fun I play it anyway. I'm not uploading Maps in order to be successfull. I'm doing that for me and my friends to play on a map we all like. But like I said I wanna do some more fancy looking maps too. Oh and sorry for my bad englisch I'm German :)

the sad thing about this awful minecraft to vmf converter is that it discourages people from actually learning how to use hammer to make good looking maps that arent cubes. Its just like how game deleopers realized they can make a profit off of unfinished "early access" games.
Because these shitty maps keep getting pumped out and people don't realize they require no effort, actual maps that take effort are dying off and you are contributiong to their death.

Well I like Minecraft so I do a Minecraft map. It's true that I'm not good with hammer but I'm learning it at the moment and doing a Map in Hammer only. But I will also do Minecraft maps in the future because I like Minecraft and my friends are building these maps so why not help them to convert them into Garrysmod :)
Right now I'm building a "village" Map including this house

If you can use hammer why not make a real map? there are already hundres of minecraft maps, making more just shows that you don't know how to operate hammer and have no valuble ethic to learn it.
