Notice and Basic Info
This is primarily for the people wishing to enter the speedrunning community of RWBY: Grimm Eclipse. If you have any skips that I did not mention previously, please comment them. I will be sure to add them into their respective sections. If anybody's found some cool glitches, I will also be sure to add them into their respective sections(or make an entirely new section for them :P). If I am wrong about any skips, please alert me in the comments.

Before we begin speedrunning this game, we're going to need to learn the basic movement dash. This is very easy on paper but it takes quite a bit of practice to actually use efficiently. Basically you'll be air dashing but cancelling it out and then cancelling that as well. To start, you'll need to perform your standard air dash. After that happens, we'll be using a heavy attack then imediately cancelling out with a parry. This will take us to the ground so we can repeat the process. It ends up being faster than waiting for the air dash to run its course and then slowly drop us to the ground. With this technique, we'll be falling diagonally down to the ground rapidly so we can do this trick again and again repeatedly, saving you time. It's significantly harder to perform on a keyboard due to the key layout, though not impossible, so a controller is much more recommended unless you have hotkeys on your keyboard or mouse that will allow you to much more easily perform the string of necessary commands to do this.

You'll also want to make sure the character you're running for is level 10 and has their abilities unlocked already. For all runs, you should upgrade your ultimate pool to 3 no matter what and for glitchless, if you want to play it safe, upgrade your health and/or aura. However for a glitched run, do not upgrade your health or aura for a skip in Forest of Forever Fall 1(Chapter 5).

Try your best to find what combo works best for clearing what enemies. Based on what I've found, The best combos for each characters are:
  • Ruby: Light -> Light -> Heavy(Fastest) OR Light -> Light -> Light -> Heavy(Best Damage)(Mutant DS Killer)
  • Weiss: Projectile Combo after 1 upgrade. If you went to her final one, you done goofed. It's bad for speedrun purposes.(Fastest)(Best Damage) OR Light -> Heavy(Mutant DS Killer) OR Light -> Light -> Heavy
  • Blake: Projectile Combo after Blade Salvo Upgrade OR Light -> Light -> Heavy(Fastest)(Best Damage)(Mutant DS Killer)
  • Yang: Light -> Heavy(Fastest)(Best Damage)(Mutant DS Killer) OR Light -> Light -> Light -> Heavy
  • Jaune: Light -> Light -> Heavy(Fastest)(Best Damage) OR Light -> Light -> Light -> Heavy(Mutant DS Killer)
  • Nora: LEGIT ANYTHING SHE HITS LIKE A TRUCK!
  • Pyrrha: Light -> Light -> Heavy(Mutant DS Killer) OR Light -> Light -> Light -> attack chain increase if you want -> Heavy(Fastest)(Best Damage)
  • Ren: Light -> Light -> Heavy(Best Damage)(Mutant DS Killer) OR Light -> Light -> Light -> Heavy(Fastest)

Level skip is a skip used in Any% runs. In short, you can go to the main menu and go to the next Chapter whenever you are supposed to unlock the next chapter. In Chapters 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8, you may do this after the final enemy is defeated. In Chapter 4, you may do this once the bomb cutscene starts after escorting this(Pause Button before the cutscene begins). In Chapter 6, you may do this once you trigger the cutscene where you are put onto the cargo ship(Pause button as you air dash into the box). You are not allowed to skip the Chapter 10.

Time is called once the final cutscene of Chapter 10 begins and you lose control of your character.

  • Characters who can perform this skip: Characters have an easy time performing this skip
  • Characters who can try harder to perform this skip: Characters who struggle but can still perform this skip(it's also a maybe section so some in this section are not guarenteed to get skips while in this section)
  • Characters who can't perform this skip: Characters who can not in any way perform this skip, regardless of the conditions.
  • Words are tough bruh: This skip was patched out alltogether or just for 1 character.
Emerald Forest Skips
The Emerald Forest is the first 2 chapters of the game and contains many different skips for some unknown reason. Many characters can abuse these skips.

EF1 - Mob 1 Skip:
  • Climb up the rock formation to the right of the gate. Jump towards the gate and air combo your way over it. Finish up with an air dash or you will get pushed back into the mob area.
  • Characters who can perform this skip: Weiss, Blake, Yang, Pyrrha
  • Characters who can't perform this skip: Ruby, Jaune, Ren, Nora
  • It's a very easy time save. Take it.
EF1 - Mob 2 Skip:
  • Go to the rock near the rock formation blocking the path out. Get behind it onto the highest elevation greenery possible. Air dash(And even use a mini air combo if you have to) to get on top of the rock. Air dash and then air combo into the crevace between the rock arch and the rocks to the left of it. Air dash and air combo to the right side of the arch after landing. Air dash into the large rock on top and air combo, ending with a heavy to get you onto a mini platform... somehow. Progress over the rock.
  • There's a small chance for this to soft lock the game.
  • Characters who can perform this skip: Weiss, Blake
  • Characters who can try harder to perform this skip: Ruby
  • Characters who can't perform this skip: Yang, Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha Ren
  • It's a great time save for Weiss and Blake. Take it.
EF1 -> EF2 Wrong Spawn Setup:
  • Jump on top of the tiny railing on the wood bridge near the control center. Air dash(And even use a mini air combo if you have to) to get on top of the rock formation above it. Run along it to the left and out of bounds. Fall off the world(This is the only map that kills you for falling off the map maybe???) and die. Continue through the level as normal. After defeating the Armored Beowulf at the end of the multi-wave sequence, quickly make your way back to where you fought Beowulves for the first time. The rock wall will be reformed. Let the game fade to black and you will spawn in after the bridge sequence.
  • All characters can perform this skip.
  • This will not work if you level skip. Don't go for level skip and enter the main menu. It's an amazing time save overall and doing that trick will cause you to waste about 3-4 minutes just freaking fighting mobs of Beowulves and Boarbatusks!
EF2 - RNG Mob 1 Skip:
  • In regards to the mob spawn to the left(wide open area with a ton of boxes out in the open): You will be climbing on top of a box at the far end of the map. Jump on top of a jagged rock formation to the left of that box. Air dash and air combo onto the cube formation on the other side of the boxes. Work your way around on the cubes using jumps and air combos and air dashes until you get on top of the circular pillar. Air dash and air combo over the rock wall and you're at the control center.
  • Characters who can perform this skip: Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, Jaune, Pyrrha, Ren
  • Characters who can try harder to do this skip: Nora
  • Good time skip if you can get it in the first 3 tries. Otherwise you should probably just kill the Beowulves.
EF2 - RNG Mob 2 Skip:
  • In regards to the mob spawn to the right(Wide open area with a hilly part to the left and a man made wall on the cliff side): You will follow the left edge of the open area up on top of a higher elevation hill. Air dash and air combo on top of the rock by the rock gate. Air dash and Air combo over the rock gate. Be careful, it can push you out if you do it incorrectly.
  • All Characters can perform this skip.
  • Very easy and good time save. Take it.
Mountain Glenn Skips
Mountain Glenn is Chapters 3 and 4 of the game. Chapter 3 is a run killer if you aren't careful, due to how difficult the Armored Ursa at the end of the level can be.

MG1 - Gate Skip:
  • Climb up on top of the left piping. Air dash and Air combo over the gate.
  • All characters can perform this skip.
  • Huge time save and very easy to do. Take it.
MG1 - RNG Mob Skip 1:
  • In regards to the path on the right(Boarbatusk room): You can either climb up onto the box or onto the pile of dirt near the rock barrier. Air dash and Air combo on top of the fence to the left of the rock barrier. Air dash and air combo through the tiny crevace between the rock barrier and the building.
  • Weiss can just literally not do any of this and just walk through the left part of the barrier just because what's there to stop people from doing so is a fallen piece of tin roof, but Weiss's hit box allows her to get through the very very very tiny gap between that tin roof piece and the building's wall.
  • All characters can perform this skip.
  • Good time skip and easy to do. Take it. If you're Weiss, don't bother with the set up and just Air Dash through.
MG1 - RNG Mob Skip 2:
  • In regards to the path on the left(Beowulf room): You can air dash and air combo onto the little ledge on the building to the right at the start. Failing this doesn't mean you can't get back up and try again. Air dash and air combo onto the building across. Air dash and air combo, ending with a heavy into an ultimate(Some don't need to do this) onto the large building. Air dash and air combo, ending with a heavy over the invisible barrier.
  • There is a small chance to soft lock the game with this skip.
  • Characters who can perform this skip: Weiss
  • Characters who can try harder to perform this skip: Blake, Yang, Pyrrha
  • Characters who can't perform this skip: Ruby, Jaune, Nora, Ren
  • As Weiss, this is a MAJOR time save despite the difficulty. Take it. If you fail it 4 times, you lost time. As Blake, Yang and Pyrrha, If you fail it 2 times, just take the Beowulves. It's much harder for them to do it than it is for Weiss.
Forest of Forever Fall Skips
The Forest of Forever Fall is chapters 5 and 6. Chapter 6 is run killer number 2 involving the Mutant Beowulves at the end(there's a chance to get 2 Ursas back to back instead of 2 Mutant Beowulves. Hope for those. 2nd best result is an Ursa followed by a Mutant Beowulf.)

FFF1 - Keystone Gate Skip:
  • Ride the pillars to the right at the start up. Get into the tree. Jump towards the gate and air combo(end with heavy if you have to), then air dash over the gate.
  • Characters who can perform this skip: Weiss, Blake, Yang, Pyrrha
  • Characters who can't perform this skip: Ruby, Jaune, Nora, Ren
  • For the Characters that can do it, it's a nice 6-8 second time save. Failing it twice doesn't save any time. If this happens, then just grab the Keystone from the pot and go through the right gate.
FFF1 - Mob Skip 1:
  • In the area with the giant tree, go to the left side. Do whatever it takes to get you up the pillar(this generally ends up being air dash into air combo ending with heavy into ultimate as yang. You have do some weird stuff with Weiss to get up there though). Get into the tree somehow(Just pray to god you get in it). Air dash, Air combo and end with heavy if you have to to get over on top of the stone pillar. Do it again, but this time over the rock wall.
  • Characters who can try harder to perform this skip: Weiss, Yang
  • Characters who can't perform this skip: Ruby, Blake, Jaune, Nora, Ren, Pyrrha
  • If you can get up it on the first 2 tries, you saved a lot of time. If you fail, just fight. You're not going to get it and you'll lose time a 3rd try unless RNGesus already had the longest Mob in the game set up for you there(It's like a 3-4 minute onslaught of varrying enemy waves. It sucks)
FFF1 -> FFF2 Wrong Spawn Setup:
  • Die to the Mutant Beowulf at the very end of the chapter while inside the little cave area it spawns in. Kill the Beowulf and backtrack back to the hill you just came up. If you make it to the top of the fencing, you did it correctly. You will now warp to inside the area blocked off by the final keystone gate in FFF2.
  • All characters can perform this skip.
  • Just like with the Wrong Spawn for EF1 -> EF2, don't try the level skip. You'll save much more time this way.

FFF2 Troll Skip:
(Note: This is a chapter only skip. Only useful for a single segment run or restarting the level completely on a friend.)
  • At the start of FFF2, go to the left behind the tree and climb the cliffside up. When at the top, air dash and air combo over to the other side. You will collide with an invisible wall. Air jump and air combo(may have to use an air heavy or other form of height increasing tactics) to vault you over the invisible wall(it's kinda teensy). Head left along the cliff until you reach a huge drop off with a ravine below. Jump across and air dash with an air combo to get yourself across(this is NECESSARY! Falling off will soft lock the game). Head along the new cliff on the left side and drop off into the water. Walk towards what looks like a block in the water. Afterwards, climb up the cliffside to the left. Head up the cliff where a cylindrical pillar is located. Jump, air dash and air combo into the container yard(this is really tight for Yang).
  • Characters who can perform this skip: Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, Nora, Pyrrha, Ren
  • Characters who can not perorm this skip: Jaune
Merlot Island Skips
Merlot Island consists of Chapters 7 and 8 and is also the 3rd biggest offender of stupid RNG.
You can get really bad spawns in MI2 all revolving around Mutant Beowulves and they're huge time wasters and you can get completely jipped out of a very good wrong spawn too. Thanks RNGesus. You also can not go over the steam barricades. Attempting to will literally instant kill you even though you aren't touching steam. No idea why that's a thing.

MI1 - Mob Skip 1:
  • In the area after the first fight with the Spear Guards, climb up the rock formation with an air dash and air combo onto an invisible platform. Air dash and air combo over the steel door to the harbor. For some reason the wall isn't tangible.
  • Characters who can perform this skip: Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, Nora, Pyrrha, Ren
  • Characters who can't perform this skip: Jaune
  • Sorry Jaune, this is one huge time skip you can not do. Nora will require a precise angle to do this skip with, but it is very possible. Everyone else, it's a very easy to perform skip.
MI1 - Out of Bounds Skip:
  • In the harbor, get on top of the ledge of the room's corner to the left of the starting door with an air dash and an air combo(you can make this easier by hopping onto the boxes). Air dash and air combo on top of the ledge above that. Walk on that over to the area where there's an opening in the wall. Air dash and air combo(end with heavy if you have to) on top of the tiny ledge by the opening. Air dash and air combo, ending with heavy through the opening. Ride the out of bounds around to the area at the end, unlocked by defeating the final wave. Be careful, you can very easily get stuck in a literal forever fall if you fall off at any point.
  • Plan 1 to get to the final wave: Get on top of the pipe. Get onto the tiny tiny ledge near the top of the piping with an air dash into an air combo(end with heavy if you have to). Get on top of the piping all together with an air dash(use 1 or 2 air attacks if you have to). Air dash and air combo over the rock barrier into the final wave.
  • Characters who can perform this skip: Weiss, Blake, Yang, Pyrrha, Ren
  • Characters who can't perform this skip: Ruby, Jaune, Nora
  • It's a huge time skip. Take it. Sorry Ruby and Jaune, but you can't even get through the opening.
  • Plan 2 to get to the final wave: Go to the far back and go right out of bounds again. Ride the rock formation again until you reach the area where there's a rock at the bottom of the rocks in the area of the final wave(The one near the gate between the area of the final radio tower and the final wave area). Jump down there and trigger the cutscene. There is an invisible barrier hindering you from attacking normally, so use bullets to kill the final wave.
  • Going out of bounds in this area makes it very easy to soft lock the game. Be careful.
  • Characters who can perform this skip: Weiss, Blake, Yang, Nora, Pyrrha, Ren
  • Characters who can't perform this skip: Ruby, Jaune
  • For Nora this is a requirement. For Weiss, it's security. It takes longer, but it's much safer. Take it if you're Nora or if you're going for safety strats. Otherwise, the other path is much better for time. Once again, sorry Ruby and Jaune, but you can't even go out of bounds here.
MI2 -> MF1 Wrong Spawn Setup:
  • If you got the path that sends you to the right of the fork in the steam road, you can progress to the final wave area of MI2. After defeating the final enemy, Do everything you can to get up on to the left entrance(the one you didn't come from), involving lots of tiny ledge jumping, air dashing and air comboing ending with heavies potentially(You can completely bypass this though if you get a good final wave spawn with just a Spear Guard and a Cannon Guard for the final enemies and do this before hand, shooting up the enemy until it dies). Get as close as you can to the steam barrier(This is really REALLY tight timing so you got to be very fast). This will spawn you in to the elevator leading you to the vat destruction area of Merlot Factory 1.
  • Characters who can perform this skip: Weiss, Blake, Yang, Nora, Pyrrha
  • Characters who can't perform this skip: Ruby, Jaune, Ren
  • Despite the extremely strict timing and circumstances required to perform this, it pays off insanely well if you get it off. Whether it happens or not is up to not only speed, but whether RNGesus sends you left or right. Keep this in mind and hope you go right.
Final Chapter(Chapter 10) Skips *Ruby Rose and Weiss Schnee*
Each individual character has their own different ways to skip the final level. This skip requires tons of practice and some require you to have at least upgraded your ultimate pool to have 3 stocks.
PLEASE DO KEEP IN MIND THESE SKIPS ARE SANITY BREAKINGLY DIFFICULT ON YOUR FIRST ATTEMPTS! IF YOU GET THESE ON YOUR FIRST TRY THEN YOU ARE LUCKIER THAN A 24 LEAF CLOVER!

Ruby's Final Level Skip:
  • Enter the room where you must destroy the power nodes. Clear out the room(power nodes and enemies both. This is in case of failure and/or in case of Gun Androids trying to snipe ya face while you do the skip).
  • Climb the piping that you can for some reason go through on the left(Furthest to the exit door).
  • Jump over to the support on the right(assuming you're facing the wall) and then walk up it. Get close to the end of it and you should be able to see a set of televisions hanging from the ceiling. Jump towards it.
  • You will want to air combo 3 attacks and then air dash. Afterwards, very very very quickly turn around and then do a bullet combo. Hopefully you're on top of the monitor.
  • Turn Around and look up slightly. You should be able to see pipes. Jump, Air dash and then quickly turn away and shoot a bullet. You should be between the pipes now. Walk forward until you can not move forward. Now get on the side of the piping, but not too close or you'll fall off.
  • Walk until there is a protrusion in the piping. Jump up without moving forward, air dash and then fire a bullet and hopefully you're on top of the higher pipe. Walk forward until you are stopped by a protrusion in the ceiling.
  • There is a circular archway in front of you now. Jump forward, air combo with 3 hits, air dash, very quickly turn around and then do a bullet combo. You should be on top of the archway.
  • Turn the camera around until you can see through the ceiling. Jump to the left camera, air combo with one hit, air dash away from the camera and shoot a bullet. You should now be Out of Bounds 100% Out of the corridor. If you fall off here, you can either be falling forever in a softlock or die, so be careful.
  • Do some more platforming over to another archway. Dash around to the wall. Get over the wall to the right and then air combo around the wall, and air dash over back to the left where you can walk.
  • Walk over to the wall and then walk along it until you reach theend of the wall's protrusion. Jump off of it towards the edge of the wall. Air combo over beyond the edge and then scoot beyond the wall, then do a bullet combo afterwards to get yourself safely onto another platform.
  • Run around on the ceiling now to the room with the vats. Walk towards the wall that is above the ceiling and head over to the left corner as close as you can without falling off. Jump over the wall, air dash and air combo over forwards and to the left. You should now be in the arena where you fight the Mutant Death Stalker. Dash over close to the wall on the right side of the arena. Jump to the right in the corridor where the plane appears.
  • Jump over to the bottom side of the hoop with an air dash and a backwards bullet combo. Jump towards the platform that will trigger the pickup cutscene and then get yourself back to safety with a bullet shot. Watch the final cutscene and you have successfully performed the skip~!

Weiss's Final Level Skip:
  • Unlike Ruby, you won't even need to fight the mobs and the power nodes. Jump over to the forward and right and air combo over with 4 attacks. There should be what looks like a platform on the right. Heavy attack in the air onto that platform. Jump across to the televisions. jump over to the left televsion.
  • Jump towards the pipes and attack twice then turn away from them and use an air heavy attack. Do a jump very slightly away from the pipes and then go back into them by attacking the upper pipe, then turn away again and use another air heavy attack. Walk along the pipes until you can not walk any further.
  • Jump forwards off the pipes towards the archway. Air combo 4 times and then use a heavy attack and then air dash towards the archway. Jump along the ceiling to the left once again and air combo 3 times, end by turning towards the camera and then using a heavy attack. You should now be out of the corridor.
  • Platform over to the other archway on the corridor. Head over to the upper right area. Get on top of the right wall. Jump forwards towards the wall in front of you. Air combo 4 times into it and then turn away from it and use a heavy attack to get over it.
  • Jump and air dash to make it over a couple of gaps and then move over to the room with the vats. Move over to the wall that goes over the ceiling. Jump on top of the wall and walk along to the left side of it, and then jump and air dash over to the arena where you fight the Mutant Death Stalker. Move over to the wall near the door to the corridor where the plane will pick you up. Jump to the right into the corridor and air combo 4 times finished with an air dash to guarentee you make it.
  • Jump over to the bottom side of the hoop with an air dash and air combo. Jump towards the platform that will trigger the pickup cutscene and then get yourself back to safety with a heavy attack. Watch the final cutscene and you have successfully performed the skip~!
Final Chapter(Chapter 10) Skips *Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long*
Blake's Final Level Skip:
  • In the first room, make your way over to the boxes on the left. Get on top of it to the left of the monitor. Jump upwards, air dash and then air combo completely, then use your ultimate while facing away from the connection point of the monitor and the pipe. You should be on top of the lower pipe... somewhat. Slowly wriggle your way through the pipes. Once that is done, Jump up and air combo towards the higher pipe. Get on top of one of the grooves on the pipe.
  • Get over to the other end of the pipe towards the archway on the ceiling. Jump through the wall with an air combo and ending with an ultimate.
  • Run around on top of the corridor until you reach the second to last hoop. Walk to the left side of the hoop and then jump forward. Wait a second or so and then air combo to completion and then air dash on top of the wall. Run along the wall forward and then jump forward to the left at the end of the wall.
  • Run around on top of the level until you get to the room with the vats. Move over to the wall that goes above the ceiling and jump on top of it. Move over to the left and then jump forward and to the left into the room where you would normally fight the Mutant Death Stalker. Run over to the wall near the door to the corridor where the plane will pick you up. Jump to the right into the corridor and air combo 4 times finished with an air dash to guarentee you make it.
  • Jump over to the bottom side of the hoop with an air dash and air combo. Jump towards the platform that will trigger the pickup cutscene and then get yourself back to safety with an air combo/air dash. Watch the final cutscene and you have successfully performed the skip~!

Yang's Final Level Skip:
  • Get over to the end of the first room. Absolute first room. Ultimate(must be the ultimate that creates stones from the ground) and blow up a Mutated Creep then wriggle your way out of bounds.
  • Dash over to the hoop in the corridor near the door. Combo Light, Light, Heavy upwards and then air dash forward to the left at the wall, then Heavy and ultimate on top of a protrusion in the wall. Jump on top of the piping.
  • Air combo with 2 hits and then end with an air dash and heavy to get on to the upper piping. Then walk forward to the end of the archway. Combo Light, Light, Heavy upwards and then air combo out of the wall and air dash back on top of the corridor's hoop.
  • Run along on top of the corridor until you reach the second to last hoop. Walk to the left side of the hoop and then jump forward. Wait a second or so and then air combo forward to completion and then air dash on top of the wall, using an ultimate to get yourself on top.

-Characters who can skip through chapter 9:
Team RWBY (Ruby's ranged attack is required in some spots), Pyrrah (you must be precise with her angle and attack timing when at the hill), Nora (when at the hill , you'll have to find a wall and air combo to the roof [light x2, heavy, the quickly counter mid heavy])
-Skip shown to me by @Taco+Taco=Burrito
AshtinKing Jul 11, 2019 @ 2:19pm
-There is a skip for chapter 9 that isn't in this guide yet (as of this comment). After taking the first elevator after starting the level, jump and combo onto the box on the left side. Then, jump onto the pipes above (you may have to combo). Go along the pipes until they're at a turning point then air combo over to the furthest corner. Assuming you're facing the wall, air combo to the corner on your left. You should go through and be out of bounds. Once, out of bounds, looks for a big hill that is closest to the actual map, get to the top, then jump onto the roof of the map. Simply keep following the map, but keep jumping and dashing to not fall. Once at the end, jump over the wall and onto the nearest pipe. Turn 180, then air combo along and past the pipe. then, initiate the upload.

A long time ago I actually found out that can perform the out of bounds skip for Merlot's island. However, ruby needs to combo onto the metal container and go from there. Her ranged attacked is necessary for some parts of this skip.

Ruby can also perform the skip over the metal gate, however, it takes a few tries.

apologies for constantly commenting, but I also want to say that the chapter 10 skips starts it over
Mitsuru  [author] Jan 21, 2019 @ 9:06pm
@Jaingsley Thank you for reminding me to actually update it as a trolling strat for people who want to restart a level on their friends.
AshtinKing Jan 21, 2019 @ 5:20pm
For some, the FFF2 skip may force you to start the chapter over. You can still do only the first fight and the last. Once you're in the gate area, jump on a section of the wall on the right side then break the vases to get the third door (middle door) key.

I'm not sure if this is a glitch or not, but if Blake uses her dodge and heavy at the EXACT same time, she does her normal light>heavy combo, but it will send you flying forward farther and faster than normal.
Corvax Sep 19, 2017 @ 7:48pm
I recommend you check out my guide on a movement tech for blake. I think it makes Blake the #1 fastest hunteress in the game.

My head hurts from reading this.

I can when i can sit down and go through them all again. He's got enough to the point where i've been able to route any% jaune with some help
