Short tutorial about getting better performance in Team Fortress 2

How does it look like?

FPS Configs

If you haven't used any config yet, it would be a good idea to start using one.

1.Copy everything
2.Paste to the NotePad
3.Save in Steam / steamapps / common / Team Fortress 2 / tf / cfg as autoexec.cfg

Launch options

You can change/set your own launch options for TF2

1.Press "Team Fortress 2" with RMB in your steam libary.
2.Go to settings
3.Go to launch options
4.Paste here
-dxlevel 81 -cores 6 -threads 12 -novid -nojoy -softparticlesdefaultoff -nosteamcontroller
5.Run TF2
6.Close TF2
7.Remove "-dxlevel 81" from your launch options.

Change your ingame resolution

Just change your resolution in TF2

Don't be surprised, resolution in any game may cause a big difference in framerate, most recommended ones are:

800x600 [4:3]
1024x768 [4:3]
1280x720 [16:9]

There may be no FPS differences between 640x480 and 800x600

Optimize your system!

Apps running in the background, automatically changing wallpaper, Windows Aero, Windows Update - Each of them steal a little part from your performance, how about turning them off?

Instead of pasting steps here, try following these videos.
If possible try to create a backup of your registry (just in case).

Removie TF2 config [OPTIONAL]

If you don't want to use any of these configs because it makes TF2 look awful etc. Follow these steps.

1.Go to Steam / steamapps / common / Team Fortress 2 / tf / cfg
2.Delete autoexec.cfg
3.Go to your steam library
4.Press Team Fortress 2 with RMB
5.Press Options
6.Go to Launch options
7.Delete everything and paste/write -autoconfig
8.Run TF2
9.Close TF2
10.Delete -autoconfig from launch options.

i tried to open the masterconfig file, and it opened fornite and i couldnt open it up and if the file were to open up ima need help putting the configs because i did this before i put a master config in my custom file and it didnt work

I haven't noticed it before. "Compatibility" thingies in hl2.exe (and similiar applications) do not exist in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10.
