Command CS:GO BOTs like a pro - the complete GUIDE
By Pr3c1s3
I often see people in competitive matches try to command bots by spamming ''hold this position'' and get frustrated when the BOTs don't listen or do the wrong thing. This post is dedicated to counter that issue and help players understand our lovely brainless creatures a bit more.

All you need to know
First you should know these tips before commanding BOTs like a pro :

Basics - press ''E'' when spectating a BOT to take control of it and press ''E'' on a BOT who is carrying the bomb to make him drop it on the ground.

BOTs don't listen to commands given in the buytime or a timout - only command BOTs when the round has started.

BOTs tend to respond (obey or disobey) to commands immediately if you say ''Affirmative'' right after your given command. The BOT understands that as an another teammate agreeing to the command , which makes him ''trust'' the commander more. It's the opposite with ''Negative''.

As mentioned before, BOTs may occasionally go 'rogue'. Rogue bots do not obey radio commands, nor pursue scenario goals.

If you command a BOT succesfully, it will obey your command for a period of time and then may continue doing his intended thing.

Important - the command ''Hold this position'' makes the BOT hold a position near YOUR LOCATION, NOT THE BOT's. So spamming the command makes the BOT change his position to a one that's near the commander after every given command. Don't spam the commands please.
List of commands that BOTs listen to : FBA - followed by ''affirmative''

  • ''GO'' FBA - makes the bot move forward and do his intended plan - go for kills / bomb plants / defuses / hostage rescues.

  • ''Fall back'' FBA - makes the BOT go back and hold the position.

  • ''Stick together'' ; ''Follow me'' ; ''Cover me'' ; ''Regroup team'' ; ''Enemy spotted'' ; ''Need backup'' ; ''Taking fire, need assistance'' ; FBA - makes the BOT follow the commander.

  • ''Hold this position'' FBA - makes the BOT hold a position near the commander's location.

  • ''Affirmative/Negative'' - makes the BOT listen or not listen to the commands - for example, if you command the BOT to ''Hold this position'' and you or your teammate says ''Negative'', the BOT may not obey the command (it's the opposite with ''Affirmative'')

  • ''Report in'' - makes the bot say his current status , for example he can say ''Sector clear'' or ''Enemy spotted''.
Conclusion : BOTs aren't that bad. Just learn how to use them and they will become the most useful things in Competitive. Next update - nerfed bots confirmed.
