Classic Offensive server

This guide will tell you how to set-up a server for the mod Counter-strike: Classic Offensive in a simple and short way.

Download SteamCMD

First thing you want to do is download the the program SteamCMD. This is a command-line version of steam and will let you download the CSGO server files.

1. Create a folder on your drive for SteamCMD
(e.g. C:\servers\steam\steamCMD)

2. Download SteamCMD from this link: SteamCMD

3. Extract the content of the .zip to your SteamCMD folder you just made in step 1

4. Run steamCMD.exe
It will now check for updates and should download the required files that SteamCMD needs.

Download the CSGO server files

When SteamCMD has been updated you want to open it again (incase you closed it) and Login to accuire the CSGO files.

1. Type in: login anonymous
This will log you in anonymously.

2. Type in: Force_install_dir C:\servers\steam\csgo
This command specifies the path where your csgo server files will be installed to. (The above path is an example)

3. Type in app_update 740 validate
This will install the csgo server files. (740 is the app number, if it doesn't work, use 730)

4. When it's done, close steamcmd by typing "exit" without the quotes

Configure the server for Classic Offensive

Here I will describe on how to configure your Classic Offensive server using the csgo server files.

1. First thing you want to do is copy your mod to your csgo server folder
In this guide we used 'C:\servers\steam\csgo' <- Paste your mod folder in there

2. Create a shortcut of srcds.exe located in your csgo server folder
We need this shortcut to launch Classic offensive

3. Right-click your shortcut and go to properties. At 'target' it says something like C:\servers\steam\csgo\srcds.exe

4. Now add these commands to it "-game csco -console +map de_dust2_csco +sv_lan 0 +sv_pure 0 -port 27015 +sv_setsteamaccount "YOURTOKEN" without the quotes.
This will use Classic Offensive as the game (be sure to add a space between \srcds.exe and the commands.

5. As you can see you need to add a gameserver token at the target of your shortcut (+sv_setsteamaccount "YOURTOKEN") To get this token, you need to create one at Gameserver token
Copy the token you created and paste it in the target of your shortcut (without any quotes)

6. Check if everything is OK
It should be something like this: "C:\servers\csgo\srcds.exe -game csco -console +map de_dust2_csco +sv_lan 0 +sv_pure 0 -port 27015 +sv_setsteamaccount xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"

7. Exit steam, Launch the server with the shortcut. Now you can re-start steam and join the server by going to console and type: connect "YOURIP"

Did you first exit steam and THEN launch the server?

Other people are not able to join my server, nor am I (using public IP)

Did you port forward the server port? (27015) Search for some port forwarding tutorials for your specific router.

Your server is out of date. Please update and restart

The csgo server files will think that your Cs:Go server is out of date.. that's because it's running the mod version. Ignore this message, it will work just fine.
