[CSGO] How to gain more FPS on a laptop
By sirhc
This guide's purpose is to work through some steps in order to gain more fps for a smoother game play. I'm personally a laptop player who struggled playing CSGO in the beginning due to low fps.

WARNING: This is not a guide for individual skills such as aiming, grenades usage, team strategies, ping, newbie tips, etc.

Introduction

Are you in a situation where you think you should never have bought CSGO? Do you think it's a time to buy a new pc? Don't worry, many players including you have been through this situation. All you need to do is modify a few things which are easy to follow up!

That is a screenshot of my 30 FPS when I just leave my settings without any modifications.
Getting ready
First you will need to check a few things.
1. Launch your CSGO Client
2. Join one of the CSGO official servers(Deathmath, Arm Race, Demolition, Casual)
3. Go to options>game settings, and make sure you have Enabled console. You can enable it by clicking "Yes".
4.Exit options tab.
5. Open console by pressing the key you binded console with.
6. Type in "net_graph 1",. Here you can check your FPS(Frames Per Second).

  • fps of 20-38: Your screen feels lags constantly, and you can't really shoot. Now this is want most laptop players get in the beginning.
  • fps of 39-50: You are enable to play the game decently, but you can't one tap or do amazing plays.
  • fps of 51+ Your computer feels smooth enough and really the minimum fps you would need is over 50.

Video Settings
This is the base factor into affecting your fps. In here, I am not talking about View Models or crosshair.

When you first play CSGO all of your video settings would be set as default.

The game, CSGO, is made to play on it's finest settings for better performance(or at least I recommend it doing like that if you want better performance). In order to accomplish this you must play it with the lowest graphic options. There is not much difference anyways. Follow my screenshot and change your advanced options.

-Global Shadow Quality: Very Low
-Model/ Texture Detail : Low
-Effect Detail: Low
-Shader Detail: Low
-Multicore Rendering : Disabled if 1 core, Enabled if more than 2 cores
-Multisampling Anti- Aliasing Mode: None
-Texture Filtering Mode : Bilinear
-FXAA Anti-Aliasing : Disabled
-Wait for Vertical Sync : Disabled
-Motion Blur : Disabled

If you like Alt-tabbing a lot during a middle of a match go ahead and use Fullscreen Windowed as your Display Mode. However, this will downgrade your fps by a little bit.
For better fps use "Fullscreen" as your Display Mode. Then disable Laptop Power Savings.
Brightness, color mode, Aspect Ratio, and resolution is up to how you prefer to play and how your laptop differs.
Advanced Launch Options
1. Launch your Steam client.
2. Go to your library.
3. Right click CSGO>Properties>Launch Options>General> Set Launch Options and type in the following commands.

-novid
-noborder
-high
-threads 8
-freq 60
-refresh 75
-tickrate 128
-nojoy
-nod3d9ex
-noaafonts
+mat_vignette_enable 0
+r_shadowrendertexture 0

This is some helpful commands for hps.

Use this guide for deeper details about launch options.
Mouse, Graphic Cards
In this section I will talk about brief system settings that would benefit you.
  • Search control panel in your system.
  • Search mouse within the control panel.
  • Go to Pointer Options. For motion select the medium one.
  • Make sure you undo "Enhance pointer precision".

Most laptops have inside graphic cards. I have Intel inside CORE i3.
-If you have intel and windows, go search Intel(R) HD Graphics.
    -Open it up.
-Go to 3D select performance for your general settings.

If you do not wish to play on 1024 x 768, skip to the next section.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    -Exit the tab.
    -Go to Display now.
-Select your resolution as 1024 x 768 then scale full screen.
-Launch CSGO and play on that resolution. This resolution gives you about +10fps.
-Revert whenever you want to go back.
Concluding
Finally, always remember to keep your battery plugged in your laptop. It gives you better performance.

This is my first guide so it may be awkward, but I wish you all got better fps.
Any errors, typos, grammar issues, please report them to me!!! Thank you.

Good for you. I was talking in general, unless you are a pro it is pretty challenging to even move your mouse around with 15fps.
