Video - Comparsion (Velvet Shell Updated!)
This video is a detailed comparison of all guns in 5.2 update between the compensator, the muzzle brake and the flash hider while shooting them in bursts and in a full spray of a mag.
Results are shown below.

This video is only for the guns added on the Velvet Shell update.

Video Summary - General Concept Of The Barrels
Flash hider's first three bullets generally have less horizontal deviation and vertical jump compared to the others. The groupings are tighter.

Compensator has less horizontal "waggle" throughout the mag dump though it has some notable vertical jumps between shots and more horizontal waggle in the first three shots than the flash hider.

Like watch some of the burst clips and in your head play "connect the dots." Usually the flash hider is more or less a straight line with maybe a tiny bit of variance but the compensator's first three shots sometimes form a triangle shape.

Muzzle brake is the de facto "best" attachment for DMR and pistol. Best for tap firing.

Compensator
Anything that capitalizes on high ROF, because those guns eat through ammo easily and you want your "extended sprays" to be accurate.
Flash Hider
Low ROF weapons are going to inherently be about making as many opening shots count as possible, so you'll want to burst them. You'll by nature of the ROF have less opportunity to mag dump.
Muzzle Brake
Anything semi-auto, so all DMRs and pistols. Anything automatic I would exclude unless you have a particular strategy in mind, for example you're on Oregon with Buck's C8 and you want to be able to tap-fire a peeker hiding in the tower. So yeah. Tap firing.
Heavy Barrel
High Risk/High Reward Attachment #1.

While the fall-off bonus benefits you at long range, you're probably going to see the most use out of heavy barrels at mid-range, where the jump in recoil is still manageable enough to let you land steady DPS; Over a long range you would have to let the crosshairs resettle, effectively making the heavy barrel a tap-fire attachment, but at mid-range you could still burst and just get a flat damage bonus if your aim is good compared to other attachments.

Also one of the better attachments for players who spray the body instead of head hunting.

Good for players who yell in disbelief "OMG, I shot him so many times!" upon dying and discovering their enemy has a tiny fraction of health left. Also ideal if you damage enemies and they consistently manage to scurry behind cover to get DBNO-revived or healed by Doc. A good attachment if you plan to encounter enemies head-on since if all things are equal, you will have DPS on your side.
Suppressor
High Risk/High Reward Attachment #2.

Drastically reduces the white fire indicators and noise, making it ideal for anyone planning to go rogue on attack or defense and who doesn't necessarily want aggro.

For example I'm not sure why anyone would equip this on Blackbeard since you want to invite encounters (I once read someone purposely attaches laser sights to BB for this purpose), but if you are Thermite and you want to stay stealthy until you get the plant off, or you are Caveira, the silencer makes sense. In my experience, silencer increases the time it takes for unaware opponents to "snap" to your location with a wrist flick, making it great for flanks. But for head on encounters where enemies know your approach, silencer is IMO the worst attachment.
