Q: What is Dragon's Dogma Online?

A: Dragon's Dogma Online is a free to play online game completely separate from Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. It has its own story, world, monsters, and more. It shares many similarities to Dark Arisen, the main difference being that you can play it online with other people! Of course, the game is playable completely solo as well thanks to the Pawn system.
The game requires a VPN to play, but you only need it to login, and there are various free options available.

Q: Is the game in English?

A: Almost every major update a team called riftcrystal and a few others work on bringing an up to date English patch. Menus, skills, items, quests and more can be translated. As of right now 2.0.9 they have almost every in game menu translated and item. Overall translation % is around 50% and you will ocasionally need to check out a resource to figure out what the bloody hell you're looking at.

Q:Will Dragon's Dogma Online come to NA/EU ?

A:Capcom has made no announcements on this front. They did not bring Monster Hunter Frontier over (their other game) because they do not have any sort of servers/team in the west to handle the game, and thus it would be a very expensive endeavor.
These conditions still stand and I would consider it unlikely we will get an official English version.

Q:How does leveling work compared to Dragon's Dogma?

A:Each class levels individually and stats are added onto the character but there is no max level to the character level. So as you level each class to the max level you are awarded with a more powerful Arisen at base level. While this prevents character building, DD Online uses the Augments system and makes Augments character wide accessable, This system prevents the need to make more than 1 character and rewards people who level all classes.

You can only pick presets from the options ingame but you can manually edit the ini file located in:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\CAPCOM\Dragon's Dogma Online Benchmark

If you get a score higher than 2000 you are probobly ready to go and the game will be fine.

If however you get higher than 6500 I advise you to look into checking out a SweetFX to make the game a little more crispy and vibrant.

Account Creation

* This Process does not require a VPN to be active.

1. Register for a Capcom Online Games account.[www.capcom-onlinegames.jp] (COG) You can translate the page with chrome or firefox or if you are using something else (why?!) Here [i.imgur.com]is a translated picture to follow.
   
2. Check the email to confirm and be linked to the next page in the process.
   
3. When the account has been made you will see THIS [i.imgur.com]page with your Username. Write it down and copy it cause this is what you use to login, Not the email!
   
4. If you are logged in log out and try logging in on the site on the left hand side of the COG webpage. If you login properly then everything is good and set. Congrats!

Installation

* This process does not require VPN to be active.

1. Downlaod and install the launcher / core game files by downloading the installer.exe from the site HERE[drive.google.com]. The installer will be in japanese but it works like any other isntaller on the internet. Just click the middle button to continue, And when it asks where to install you can change that how you like.
   
2. Do NOT Login or launch the game after the installation. This comes later.

Client Download

*This process does not require a VPN

The following process will take anywhere from 1 hour to 10 hours depending on how horrid the download speed is, For me I was able to update and downlaod the entire game on VPN in about 10 hours. I will list 2 "cheat methods" to download the game without the VPN below.

Option A: Download the game client from an online source be it MEGA, Mediafire, or Google drive.
Option B: Spend the enxt day or so downloading via VPN on the launcher which Even for me having a 2MBps downlaod on a Free VPN dropped down to 0.30mbps.

A: MY Google Drive clean client download. Ver.3.2 [drive.google.com]

1. Go to my google drive folder page HERE [drive.google.com]and you will want to individually downlaod EACH file, except the readme because it's redundent here as you will be following this guide.
   
2. Download these files all together and put them inside a folder on your computer, Isolate the files making it easy to find and work with.
   
3. Download and install 7zip [www.7-zip.org]A free to use compression and unpacking tool for windows xp and up.
   
4. In your downloads when all 7z.000 files are downloaded, click on one to hilight, CTRL+A to select all, Right click, 7zip, Unpack / extract HERE.
   
5. Once everything is extracted you should see a file structure similair to your DDO install. copy and paste the files over onto your install. Repalce any files that pops up.
   
6. When you start the game take note that you will have a small 150mb update. This only takes about 10-20minutes.

Pros and Cons of this process

Pros

• Having each file only 1GB means lower issues for people who have unstable connections.
  
• The compression of 7zip allowed me to compress a 30GB game roughly down to only 15GBs.

Cons

• Extracting time can take awhile depending on the computer. My i5 4690K overclocked took upwards of 8 hours to compress the game, And about an hour to extract.
  
• If one of the downloads breaks and you can't extract theres no way to tell which archieve failed, Forcing you to redownload the whole game again.
  
  

  B: Go to the next step and get the VPN running, And launch the game launcher on your desktop login and start downloading hell.

VPN Setup & bypass

We will be using Softether as our FREE VPN.

If you have your own VPN that has a Japanese server option feel free to simply use that and launch the game.

1. Download Softether VPN Client + VPN Gate client plugin.[www.vpngate.net]
   
2. Extract the zip file and install the .exe example[i.imgur.com]
   
3. Once installed open Softether and double click the "VPN Gate Public VPN Relay Servers[i.imgur.com]" option.
   
4. It will give you a list of VPN servers to use. Sort by Region, And look for a Japan VPN with a High line speed, Low ping. Might take a few tries to find one that works, When asked UDP or TCP try both I've had varrying sucess with each type of connection.
   
5. Check to see if you are in japan, Easy to do by going to google For em I get a "japan" next to the google logo.
   
6. All good? Awesome! Now you can go launch the game, login, update, And once you see the Green button hilighted you can play! But wait we need to do the english patch and the VPN bypass too.

VPN Bypass

I will not be linking anything about this publicly. Reason being is that back when the game launched people made it widely known that you can turn off the VPN on the launcher once you logged in. Capcom fixed this soon after, I would like to be able to play still with the VPN bypass for awhile, You can PM me directly for a link Or you can search on the DDO Reddit yourself as it IS on there.

If the bypass stops working I will update this section and cry. Luckily even if you do use aVPN it won't change much for you unless you start doing the end game raids because the world is instanced lag isn't an issue.

Finally The bypass only works when you are at the character selection screen. And I advise you make your character and reach the "temple" before attempting the bypass. This is because after the intro your data is snet to the server and if it detects that IP switch it'll infinitely load, At least it did for me.

English Patch

NEVER- I repeat NEVER use an outdated english patch. It can break, corrupt, Ruin or destroy the existance of all life!.. Not really but it could harm your game and force DDO to re-download the ENTIRE client, If you do use an outdated patch at least save yourself the hell and packup your Updated, clean launcher First.

1. Download the latest patch from the Riftcrystal team. HERE[github.com]. (Should be top link)
   
2. extract the files and copy paste Over your DDO installation. Replace any files that prompts overwrite.

Congrats the game should now be in english. !

SweetFX

Sadly unlike DDDA which supports ENB ReShade and SweetFX we are limited to the simple SweetFX option due to the injecting of .dll's and being a Capcom MMO would NEVER allow it.

NOTE! This will take a large hit to your system performence, I lose about 7FPS or more depending on the area with an overclocked GTX 970.

Tips

• You must always have the VPN active before you launch the game launcher. Once you are at the character select screen you can turn it off IF you are using the VPN bypass.
  
• Not everything is translated, taking screenshots of the game then sending them to your phone and use the google translate app you can load images to scan for text. This has been a godsend for some stuff.
  
• All players (PC/PS4/PS3) can play together. Cross-platform play!
  
• Leveling up as a vocation still levels specific stats
  
• The server routine maintenance is Thursday from 10AM - 2PM JST.
  
• You get your pawn at around level 6-8, depending on how many side quests you do. Afterwards, do Seneca's quest (right outside the Pawn quest completion area) to party with others
  
• Always throw materials into storage, unless you absolutely don't need them anymore materials are used for uest turn ins, making items and more. Most amterials are valuable in some way.
  
• If you're pawn ever dies, you have to go to the Pawn Cathedral and go through the spirit "spirit world" to get them back. You have to do this everytime your pawn dies unless you have an Adventure's Passport which is a premium item.
  
• You can run out of revives, and refill them; however, you can run out of refills as a free to play player as well. Only use your revive when it is impossible for you to continue without it.

Class Overview

I'll give some detail on my experience with each class. Classes that I haven't played much I will leave as NA and will update later.

Warrior
Warrior's use two-handed greatswords and greathammers to demolish their foes with strong slow attacks. Unlike the regular DD version, warrior in DDO can use all skill slots, and has skills that can cancel enemy attacks, give him attack boosts and stun enemies, while ignoring stagger and damage, good for tanking and wide attacks
Fighter
Fighters use a sword and shield in combination together to block damage from enemies and to strike them back down, Most of the fighters skills revolve around using the shield to protect themselves from an attack and then countering with their sword.

Seeker
Seekers use a wide range of tools from bombs, daggers to a simple rope and hook.
They use daggers to fight one on one enemies at high speed and when fighting larger enemies their rope hook can latch on and cross the gap in distance instantly. Seekers also employ the use of bombs for great AOE damage.

Alchemist
Alchemists use their Alchemical Gauntlets to latch their Elixir to the enemy with each strike cause the Elixir to grow in size when at full size the Alchemist can transmute the Elixir to explode dealing massive damage to all inflicted enemies. Elixirs come in a large variety from sleep to stun ice and fire elements.

Hunter
Hunters use their bow and arrows to strike enemies from distance, Utilizing the diversity of arrow types from poison to fire they are highly adept ranged fighters.

Elemental Archer
Elemental Archers use their magic bows to aid allies in healing, buffing their stats and debuffing the enemies they fight. They can also deal high burst damage to single or multiple targets from range.

Shield Sage
Shield Sages employ the use of a magic tower shield as their only tool of defense. They can enchant their shield with elemental atributes to defend or to attack, They can use their stamina to auto-defend and block from most attacks and use their chanting catalyst to attract the attention of foes.

Priest
The holy magic users trained in the arts of healing they protect their friends and allies by buffing them and healing their wounds. They can also deal high burst damage with Holy magic, they can buff allies' defence and damage to great effect.

Sorcorer
Elemental magic users that employ the dangerous arts nature from fire to the gods lightning itself. They can send hordes of enemies aflame or strike down giants with thudner bolts of lightning. They suffer from low defense and stamina but make up for it in uncomparable damage output.

Spirit Lancer
Support class that utilizes the powerful and long-reaching spirit lance, they can boost the damage of their allies or heal them using the properties of the lance, they can also deal quick damage using magic or the lance itself, highly mobile class that has dodging capabilites and mid-air combos, along with buffs/debuffs as support
