"I made this artwork and description due to a lot of the confusions that Dying Light's store page has caused to people. Please bear with the huge wall of text and read it carefully.

What's Enhanced Edition and what do I get when I buy the game right now?

EE = Enhanced Edition is a base game that's upgraded with new additions. You get this for free whenever purchasing the game, as well received as a patch to those who owns original game, impossible to miss. Read below for more info about the Enhanced Edition.

When you buy the Enhanced Edition you'll get everything except this: Volatile Hunter, Gun Psycho, Harran Ranger, White Death, Vintage Gunslinger, Razer Outfit and Alienware Outfit.

IMPORTANT
You will get everything that's included in season pass, as well as the season pass itself, which was not included during the creation of this gif.

Remember that, this only applies to the Steam store. If you've purchased the game from the third party resellers, the chances are that you may have received an old game without any DLC, which was bought before the Techland changed it after the EE/The Following's release so you'd also get the other content as well The Following.

In this case, you may first confirm whether you have the DLC or not, and then proceed to contact their support if you consider yourself scammed.

If you're not sure of how to check which DLC you own, read below.

I bought the game, and I've got everything except the cosmetic DLC mentioned above. Are these DLC necessary and do you recommend it?

Necessary? no, will you need it? no, not really. 90% of the content of this 3 DLC is just pure cosmetic.

The obvious best DLC would be Harran Ranger, since it gives ability to craft the best bow in the beginning called Ranger Bow, which will make you OP and possibly ruin the experience, there's the rival bow called Bozak Bow, although it has a slightly less maximum damage than Ranger Bow but the damage difference isn't huge. Bozak Bow can be obtained by finishing all Bozak Horde trials, however Bozak Horde is mainly for end game players and it's challenging DLC, but because of that it's much more rewarding than Harran Ranger.

Anyone can add me and ask for assistance in finishing Bozak Horde trials, anytime. I don't care about your levels or how good you are at it, so don't hesistate to ask. I'll help anyone finish Bozak Horde so they'll get the Bozak Bow blueprint, whoever has Bozak's bow doesn't really need to spend extra money on Harran Ranger DLC.

Here's the guide about Bozak Horde.

Gun Psycho offers a Marksman rifle blueprint, this'll give your rifles a cool skin, increased accuracy, decreased fire rate and a red dot sight.

As of Volatile Hunter, the blueprints it offers aren't that better than the ones you get in base game, however the biggest advantage in my opinion if this DLC is its cool looking, night glowing outfit. You can google "Volatile Hunter Outfit". However there's a similar outfit called Trick-or-Treater, that glows in night, in my opinion it looks better than Volatile Hunter, you can google about this as well and compare. Trick-or-Treater doesn't require DLC and it can be obtained by finishing game on Hard mode, which won't be all that difficulty since it's possible to start NG+ on any difficulty, you keep your skills and inventory when starting NG+.

However, if you enjoy DL and think that you'll be playing it for longer than 20-50 hours, go ahead and grab Harran Ranger and Gun Psycho if you want, if you're into bows and you want maximum from the game, the highest damage Bozak bow reachs is 4,900 while Harran bow is 5,500, it's not really a huge difference but it's up to you whether you think it's worthy or not. If you're info rifles, although rifles are less effective on higher difficulties, the cool looking skin of Marksman rifle(Gun Psycho DLC) and its red dot sight can be fun.

I only own the base game with this 3 DLC Be the Zombie, Custom Maps and Custom Maps 2, but not The Following, why?

Keep in mind that if you owned the Dying Light without the season pass from that time before the Techland has released EE/The Following and changed it so whoever buys the game will receive everything, then you'll have only 3 DLC, Be the Zombie and two Custom Maps. In this case you must purchase either the season pass or The Following, because you wouldn't receive The Following for free without owning the season pass.

Store page is confusing me, what are the differences between Enhanced Edition and The Following?

Enhanced Edition and The Following are separate things.

Enhanced Edition which isn't a DLC, it's a free update that everybody gets as a free patch, you can't miss this. You'll get Enhanced Edition update for free despite anything, even if you don't own The Following or you only ever owned the base game without any DLC and season pass.

In short, as long as Steam doesn't want to download any update for your Dying Light, you have Enhanced Edition.

The Following is a DLC that you also get when you buy the game right now. However it's still in the store because back then when it was released you wouldn't get it for free unless you owned the season pass, this people now who didn't own season pass, have EE as mentioned above but not The Following, so they either need to buy the season pass or The Following.

The Following is an expansion to Dying Light, which takes place after the Dying Light's campaign. So first should be played campaign, and then The Following.

Store page has different name compared to the Dying Light in my library, why is it like that?

This is because they simply have different names, I'm not exactly sure why the developers decided to have it that way, probably that "Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition" sounds cooler, or let people know that it's been updated? I don't know, but don't pay attention to this.

There's only one version of Dying Light in store page and Steam Library. You'll see "Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition" in store page and simply "Dying Light" in your Steam library.

It's normal and this is how it's supposed to be, no matter when you bought Dying Light, from where, which version or what DLC you own.

UPDATE: Developers have changed store name into "Dying Light".

Store page is confusing me, and I'm not sure of which DLC do I own. Where do I confirm this and how can I be certain of what I need to purchase now?

To confirm if you have The Following, any other DLC or not, go to your Steam Library, click on Dying Light and then scroll down to the DLC Tab. Depending on the DLC(s) you own, you'll decide yourself whether to buy The Following or season pass.

Season pass: Contains everything released so far, except Gun Psycho, Harran Ranger, Volatile Hunter, Crash Test Skin Pack, Vintage Gunslinger and White Death.

I only have 3 DLC Be the Zombie and Custom Maps, what do you recommend me to purchase?

For full experience, I'd personally recommend buying season pass, this is in case if you enjoy Dying Light's gameplay, want everything from it and intend to play it longer. Season pass contains The Following, The Bozak Horde, Ultimate Survivor Bundle and Cuisine & Cargo DLC(s). Also remember that Dying Light's strong side is gameplay and not the story.

If you're interested in the story only, and you think you won't play it longer than just 30-50 hours, get only The Following.

If you'll have anymore questions, feel free and don't hesitate to add me as friend or ask in comments, I'll try to answer ASAP.

Have fun!"

@Robert J.: Hey, for first I must say is that I have left Dying Light some time ago (at the end of 2018), since that I have not been reading much about Dying Light, news, what changed, etc. If something changed in store, I do not know.

For second, what did you buy and what did you not receive? Keep in mind that there are some DLC in this gif that are not / should not be included in Enhanced Edition, this is mentioned in description.

Many times better and improved compared to Dead Island. Although I did enjoy Dead Island, have to admit that Dying Light is completely different game on a whole new level, I wouldn't even compare this two games.

If you liked Dead Island, you'll definitely love Dying Light.

If it's anything like Dead Island... that game, for all its flaws, was a guilty pleasure of mine. Shame my friends didn't share the same sentiments as I. :2016imnotcrying:

You're welcome, glad to be able to clear things up!

Waiting for the sale would be the best, and it's definitely worth it to assure you. The content that Dying Light offers, it definitely makes up for its full price and even multiple times than it, it may catch you playing it for hundreds to thousands of hours, though this really depends on how you enjoy Dying Light's gameplay, it's competitive mode and etc.

But yeah, hopefully you'll get it and enjoy the masterpiece! :steamhappy:
