Stone Town Wonder

Stone Town is the English name for the old part of Zanzibar city, on the Tanzanian island of Zanzibar. It has a rich history of merchants and traders, where once lay the capital of a mighty East African sultanate. The island is known for its exports of several different spices, among which are Cloves, Cinnamon and Chilli. These spices helped Stone Town become a centre for trade throughout not only the Indian Ocean, but also the entire Old World, with traders coming from Europe, Asia and Africa for the commodities. Zanzibar also served as the launching point for many expeditions into the heart of Africa throughtout the age of exploration which encompased the continent at the hands of Europeans throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries. Ingame, Stone Town increases the maximum number of trade routes by two and increases the range of sea trade routes from the city by 50%. It must be built in a coastal city, and requires Compass.
