Hmm, then to be more specific, the aspects of Winglet animation. Leaving out the storytelling and stuff. But even then, my plot could use some work too.
In any case, thanks for the support!
@The Necromancer
I think I know what you're trying to say, and I appreciate the notes.
As for the Soldier's death, he WILL be missed.
@Knusperfrosch
Yeah, Rallycore came up with the silhouettes. They really did add a lot to the story.
The animations are too wooden in many places, but the camera work is good. There is potential there. I really liked the scene with the black and white silhouettes, and the facial expressions were selling the story.
But they made sure to state that the Pyro is against a specific and not any random spy. In this video, the enemy scout has as much importance as any other one regardless of his backstory with the protagonist. The flashback feels more like a Deus Ex Machina to save the Drama in this short without wasting too much effort.
But the Soldier Death is legitimately Tearjerking
As it is this is still worth upvoting for the official judges to look over!
Wow, that's a lot of feedback. But enough for me to roll with.
I for one noticed how many people commented on the original video that it appeared "minecrafty" or "gmoddy". I would assume this was because of the lighting.
The storyline may be cliche for this, but I'm actually going to jump off of this and continue the trilogy. But I was going MORE for a crossroads kind of thing.
All in all, thanks for the feedback and support!
The animation was what I personally think you did best with, although it was choppy at some points. Lots of animators struggle with making things appear lifelike--you did very well at some moment, but things also looked rigid at others.
Work on your lighting and camera work (lighting especially). They're the tools that set apart real masters of film from the amateur filmmakers. You can give a story so much more depth if you get really into the composition of your shots. I can't stress this enough.
Overall, solid entry. Probably needed more time rendering, but I know the deadline is tough to meet. Keep going! I hope to see you guys produce more entries in the coming years. I'll be watching for you guys.
