How to disable the intro logos
Door Kenny32673
This is a simple guide on how to disable the intro logo movies that play every time you start the game.

You can disable the cinematic intro video(s) from playing in the game options but you can't disable or skip the logo videos the same way. This will allow you to disable the logo videos too, doing both allows you to get to the main menu and start a game a lot quicker.

I've now updated the file to include an Aspyr logo replacement for Aspyr version users (so linux and mac versions) and made the filenames lower case.

Download and Replace .bk2 Files
This simply replaces the logo videos that usually play with a 1 second blank screen.

There are 3 files - Windows users only need the 2 beginning with logo/logos. Users of the Aspyr version (so Linux and Mac) can also use the file with Aspyr in the name to lose the Aspyr logo in the intro

Thanks to Mr Blobby (as a Brit, there's a sentence I NEVER thought I'd use) for the info regarding the Aspyr logo.

Note: These files only remove the intro logo screens, I didn't include replacements for any cinematic intro videos because they can be disabled in the game options if desired.

  • Download this .rar file containing 3 blank .bk2 files:
    OneDrive[1drv.ms]

  • Go to the following folder:

    Windows:
    \steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Base\Platforms\Windows\Movies\

    Mac:
    Origineel geplaatst door dschoon:
On a Mac, the file is inside the .app:

    ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/Civ6.app/Contents/Assets/Base/Platforms/Windows/Movies

In Finder, go to Go > Go To Folder... and enter the above. If it gives you trouble, start at ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/ and start typing -- tab will pop up a list of options to complete. It might refuse to complete "Civ6.app", so just type it and append a /. (Once you're inside the .app bundle you can just browse normally anyway.)

  • Copy the required .bk2 files into here, overwriting the originals when asked (always backup the originals though just in case, but they can also be restored by verifying your game files in Steam).

  • That's it, you're done.

Old method works for me on Linux. New method results in a hang.

Is there a way to switch the Gathering Storm Cinematic out with the Original Game Cinematic? I tried once and it just swapped the video and not the audio.

On Linux, the filenames are lowercase, so ... "logo_2kfiraxis.bk2" ("logos.bk2" is the same).

You can also replace the Aspyr logo file with this substitute bink file ... "bink2_aspyr_logo_black_white_1080p_30fps.bk2"

If you didn't backup the originals and now want to restore the original logo animations, you can 'Manage' your local installation files and the 'Validate' your installation. This should restore the originals.

On mac using the old method I also had to replace LOGO_2KFiraxis.bk2 the same way I replaced logos.bk2. Replacing logos.bk2 only wouldn't bring any effects.

What hasn't worked? I've just tested this myself and simply deleting the .bk2 file(s) still works?
