[v1.1] How to gain a lot of XP point from a single match (EXP Farm)
Por Bio Drando
This guide will teach you how to gain the maximum amount of EXP points a single match can give you, with pictures!
It works both alone or with friends and it's mostly useful for Legends at really low Level, the ones you never play because you don't like using, so that you'll be able to get the money reward after you Level the up without actually putting effort in battling (as the A.I.s aren't that hard to defeat so you would have no problem against them, even with the character you hat the most).

However, while it's easier, it's not particularly faster than simply playing 1-2 Ranked or Free-for-All matches (it only gives a tiny-little-bit more EXP and coins, not a huge improvement overall...); it should be noted that you can use macros with this method, something that you can't if playing against human players (however they are not so efficient).

Where can you build an XP Farm?
An "XP Farm" is a perticular room that you can use to get generous amounts of XP (almost the same you can obtain from a Ranked match or a Free-for-All) from every match played in it, it works by exploiting a peculiar characteristique/flaw of the XP/Levelling system that allows it to give player XP from killing bots. While you can simply rely on those other two modes, you can still use this method if you don't feel like pleying seriously at the moment but you still wanna Level up your Legends.
Fist of all click on "Custom Online", the secon option in the Main Menu:

A window will appear, click on "Private Game" (we want this game to be private because we don't want players to fill it, as a requirement for the XP Farm is to have a number of players that ranges from 1 to 4, the less there are the better):

Also remember that an XP Farm will not work when playing Offline (as no XP is given when playng Offline matches): make a custom Private Online Lobby for it if you want it to work, for that reason XP Farms won't work is you can't have acces to the Internet.
FARMING ALONE: Setting up the Farm.
Now that you are inside a custom private room you can now start to set up the required criteria needed for your XP Farm to work, don't worry, it's an incredibly easy task.
First of all since you need to use the farm to gaign XP you need to use the character you want to Level up so select it (it's useful for Legends with low Levels you rarely use, the ones you don't find yourself comfortable with but that you still want to Level up; Legends with sigs that are fast and/or last for a lot of frames are the best ones for farming):

Now go in the Settings and copy the same settings shown in the image below (you can alter them if you want but remember to make the match a Timed, Team battle with unlimited stocks and a maximum of 8 players).
You can alter the amount of time you want (any time limit is OK,usually the longer the match the more XP you get, 10 minutes has a great time/XP ratio but 6 minutes is good too for a quick farming session if you only want to get a little XP to level a Legend almost close to another Level), remember to set all the Bots in the same team and then set you alone to the other team, effectively doing a 1vs7 match (you can also choose any A.I. difficulty you want but Easy is the most useful one for farming XP, however you can still set it higher if you want):

Once you set everything up, you should have settings that look like this:

Now you only need to select the stage where you'll farm your XP, you can pick any stage you want as they all work (in this case put the Test Stages option On so that you'll be able to farm in Test Stages, that are whackyer and funnier than normal stages):
FARMING ALONE: The Farm in action.
Now that you started tha game all you need to do is simply get a weapon and start spamming side and down Signature moves, since you are playing against A.I. opponents set on Easy they shouldn't have enough reflexes to dodge your attack and they will end up getting hit almost every time, mix that to their low attack rate and long periods where they simply stand still and you get absurdly bad opponents that you can beat with your eyes closed):

The best results are obtainable by getting around 40-45 kills, so mash those buttons! (you don't have to care that much about losing points, it's the amount of KOs you do during tha match that counts, not its results so don't worry if you get sent flying out of the stages once or twice...)

A problem that could occour is having too many A.I.s attaccking you at the same time, if that happens spam the dodge button and the get ready to use a sig as soon as you hit the ground.

Like stated before, signature with hits that last a lot will be the most effective ones since the A.I.s only use spot dodges to avoid attacks (they use the other, longer ones exclusively for recovering) so any attack that lasts a long will hit them (for example they always get hit by Ulgrim's down sig with the Rocket Lance or Ragnir's down sig with the Axe as they can last for a long time). They also tend to dodge instantly so any sigs that has some startup frames will surely hit them as they used their dodge too soon (because of this they are incredibly vulnerable to the Spear's ground pound, so spamming it is a great way to farm XP with chaarcters that use the Spear).

In any case simply using sigs costantly and mindlessy (expecially the side ones) will be anough to do the trick.
FARMING ALONE: After the farming (+ side notes/warnings).
Now that you racked up a lot of K.O.by killing A.I. enemies you'll get sent to the end screen like any other timed match where you'll be able to see the amount of K.O.s, Falls, Self Destructions, Damage Done and Damage Taken of every partecipant in the battle (both human players ans bots).

By continuing you'll be shown the amount of XP you earned, by defeating around 45-50 A.I. enemis you should get around 140-150 XP points, which is the maximum amoun of XP you can earn with this method:

That means that YOU CAN HAVE 4 6-MINUTES MATCHES IN A ROW AND EARN ALMOST 900/1000 XP POINTS IN ALMOST HALF AN HOUR!

While it doesn't look like such a big number at first, it can let you Level UP your Legend farily quickly, almost at the same rate of playing 2-3 matches in Free-for-All, Strikeout, Experimental 1vs1, Ranked 1vs1 or Ranked 2vs2 but a bit faster.
However this comes with the negative side of being really repetitive and boring, so you should farm XP with bots only when you really want to Lebel up a Legend or when that Legend is already close to getting a new Level after you played a lot with it. Also the time you can save isn't a lot, just a few minutes, so many could see this way of gainging Levels as an attempt for taking away 1-2 minutes of play but making said play more boring, so not everybody might like it.
However you have the benefit of being able to win a lot easier, a thing that slightly increases XP and coins gaigned, even if the difference is really minimal...
FARMING WITH FRIENDS
If repeadetly spamming sigs against A.I.s becomes boring you can spice thing up a bit: invite a friend to play with you and make the farming action funnier (and also help them Level up their LEgends too!), simply add them to your team and go blast some AI.s togheter, the amount of XP you'll gaign will still be separate though (the reason for why the picture below shows an A.I. bot is because the author of this guide is a lonely dude with no friends, *sigh*...):

Or you can play AGAINST a friend or more, solving the problem of getting bored from playing with bots. Of course you'll need a friend to join you so make sure they have some free time if you want to farm XP with them (however I've set up another bot again because, again, I have no friends...).

With that said, have fun Levelling up your Legends!

as author of guide said, this method doesnt work now. also, you get more exp in 2 ffa battles than this way. 60 exp mean difference.

if you use this xp farm, some tweaks I could make are: if you have the time set to 20 minutes you can get a lot more kills and thus, more XP; if you set the damage to 200% ( or anything above 100%) it effectively multiplies your kills (this can also get you killed more but if you use easy bots and/or a high-defense character this shouldnt be a problem)
using these sub-strategies, I can get up to 900 XP per 20 min game

the bots seem to get harder with your skill level, If you can succesfully do an air sig, then the medium or hard bots can too.

macros do NOT work with this.

I don't know if its just me, but a 1v7 is hard as hell, even with easy bots. 1v5, still hard. now i am going to try a 1v3 to see if its any easier. Bots must have been updated to be harder.

Thanks for stealing my idea

After playing for a bit I noticed that the amount of coins and XO you gaign using this method isn't that much higher than a Free-for-All or Ranked match (just a few XP points and coins more, not that much) so I sugested useing macros and letting the game run in background for who know how to use them...

Yes, the guide that helps you gaign XP.

PS. Why not just spell gain correctly?
