Helmless Warrior

Description
The Helmless Warrior plugin modifies Heavy Armor and Light Armor perks so they affect characters who are not wearing all 4 pieces of armor. The new, modified perks will work on any character wearing at least 3 pieces of armor, as opposed to the original ones that had only worked while wearing a full set.

In essence, you can enjoy the benefits of the various armor perks without wearing a helmet. (Or gauntlets, if you prefer that.)

An example perk:
Custom Fit (original): 25% Armor bonus if wearing all Light Armor: head, chest, hands, feet.
Custom Fit (patched): 25% Armor bonus if wearing at least 3 pieces of Light Armor (excluding shields).

A list of all the perks patched in Helmless Warrior:
Cushioned, Custom Fit, Deft Movement, Matching Set (Heavy Armor), Matching Set (Light Armor), Reflect Blows, Well Fitted, Wind Walker

The Helmless Warrior plugin was created by Adul.

INSTALL NOTE: For mod compatibility reasons it is recommended you make sure Helmless Warrior is as close to the end of your Skyrim load order as possible. The later this mod is loaded the less likely its effects will be overridden by another. To change your load order, select the Data Files option from the Skyrim launcher.

Will this work with the Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim mod? I'm pretty sure it won't but I wont be able to test it this week.

I made a modification to the mod so that it also works for the "Tower of Strength" perk.

Besides that it is the same. I literally installed and learned the creation kit just to do this.

The patched perks work fine, but for someone reason when installed it lowered the base armor rating of every piece of armor. Strange.

Doesn't seem to be working for Nightingale armor at the moment.

I'm not sure, but I don't think so. I haven't touched which armor sets are supported by Matching Set, only reduced the number of required armor pieces.

So far so good. I've been able to go bareheaded, or wear things like clothing hats, hoods, circlets, or the helmets of other armor sets without an issue.

Just a question though - the Vampire light armor set (Dawnguard) doesn't actually have any associated headgear. Will that still benefit from Matching Set perks with this mod, or does it lack support for those perks entirely?

Thanks, I hope it works for you. :)

This is exactly what I've been looking for - a mod that simply adjusts the perks to not require a helmet, without doing janky things like adding invisible helmets or forcing helmets to become invisible.

I don't mind taking a hit in armor to go helmetless. What I do mind is when over half my perks stop working simply because I want to show my face. Gonna subscribe to this now - if it works out well (no crashing or other unresolvable issues), you'll get a rate up and a recommendation to everyone I know.

Thanks!

@Foehack I think that's one of the several styles of hide armor you can typically find on bandits.
