No Paid Items in RL (How To disable crates)
By BoGy1980 MzegdietsasgedeesleestM
The newest update (September 2016) brought us the fantastic RUMBLE gametype, it also kinda changed some things to the end user license agreement and it brought the Famous but Lame crates (well, some think they're lame).

We can do something about these crates, because kids have this urgent need to buy every crate they see, and we want to protect the parents' wallets...

Now; we can all see where this is going to; the game will become free2play as it has reached a certain level where not much people are buying the game anymore. So the next step to get new players is to make the game itself free... but someone still has to pay for the running servers and people who get the game for free are not so willing to buy new cars out of themselves (eg the carpacks that are already in the game), except maybe for a few cars like the DeLorean, the batmobile and one or two cars from the tokio update (especially the Aftershock is popular).

Pay2Play? Free2Play? ... Earning money
Now this means that Psyonix needed to find a way to get people to buy more stuff, and one proven way is to push paid items throug crates at the end of a game: it's a crazy big economy in games like CS:Go.
The worst thing about this is; little kids don't understand the value of money, and they buy keys for each and every crate they get, and then they sell of the crap items with big losses (they don't even realize they're losing lots of money, mommy and daddy pay the bill so who cares, right? They just see money adding to their steam fund with each sale).
Now don't get me wrong; I'm not saying Psyonix is in the wrong; it's their good right to go this way and i believe it is strategically a very good move; one every company in their place would've made.
It's great to see that Psyonix cares for us by doing this; it'll bring in new players against which we can compete (fresh blood, yeah!) and the game will become even more widespread. There will be more compo's with more prizes, etc etc.. so in the end it's all for the good.
But i don't want no crates!!!
Psyonix has luckily said they will NOT enable market / selling / trading for their items (except for the ingame level-up trading 5->1 items). And even better; if you have kids playing with your computer (or console) you can even hide the crates for them; so they won't see it when they get a crate at the end of a match. To hide all the crates; just go into options, go to MISC, now enable the option "HIDE CRATES". You (and your kids) won't see any crates now... the crates you collect will still become visible if you disable this option again.
It's great psyonix is not just hunting for every penny they can by allowing us to hide the crates.

I also got the crates hidden... I bought the game and i'm not into buying cosmetic changes for gaes

alright, glad the crates arent pay only due to crates being rare themselves.
because if they are fucking common like in tf2, they arent worth shit.

yeah you need to buy keys ...
they cost around 4.50€ for 5 keys (so around 90ct per key)... better don't bey key per key as you'll be paying a lot more ...
if you want to open crates and get into the nice crate stuffs, most economic is to buy keys in packs of 5 keys, as there is no discount or buying more at once, and if you do the math you'll get the the cheapest if you buy 'm per 5.

I must advice though, it's currently more economic to just buy the items you want with keys on the trading forums; you can also trade in your crates for keys, each cc has it's own ratio for crates per key. be fast because tomorrow a new crate arrives and cc3 prices will go down very fast once cc4 has arrived

thanks for telling, i already found out a little after, but with crates, do you need to put extra for keys or are keys just drops?

mario face, it's not f2p yet, it will eventually become that when sales drop too low, but as for now they're still selling too much units to go to a f2p model...

also, like with the alpha players getting gold items, i'm quite sure that everyone who paid for the game in the first place, that those people will also get a special token, item, addon for the car or whatsoever so they can prove they didn't get the game for free and to give them something exclusive in return that free players will never get (unless those things become tradeable; which over a longer period of time will make those items more and more valuable; look at gold nugget and gold cap.. you pay 50k for the one and more than double for the other item... and it's just an addon for the car, not even certified.
