Introduction
Thrumbo wander in your area? Wanna kill that Thrumbo but your pawns are no match for it? Sipping away your sorrow with your beer supply? Well, SAVE THAT BEER! Because we'll turn that sorrow into easy Thrumbo loot!
Thrumbos and Beer
For such majestic, and wise creatures, Thrumbos sure have a hard time not drinking themselves to death. Give it enough bottles and it'll be more dead than that squirrel corpse you forgot to haul last week!
Requirements
Before getting started, you will need one CRUCIAL item though, that being: beer.

Beer requires planting hops, as well as the brewing research, and with the new update in A15, brewing now takes more steps to do. Fortunately, beer is a pretty common item sold by merchants so getting it early won't be hard.

For this you will need around 12-30 beer (depending on which state you want the Thrumbo in) and 120 wood ready.
Preparation
Once a thrumbo wanders into your area, keep an eye on it. Your plan will be to cage the Thrumbo in a small area with beer while it's sleeping.

Thrumbos tend to fall asleep around 20:00-0:00 so you will need a pawn or two to stay up the night, but it will all be worth it. Try to make sure that the beer & wood are readily available as close to the Thrumbo as possible before it sleeps.

Your goal here is to force the Thrumbo to notice the beer on the ground by confining the Thrumbo in a small area with it.
The Plan
Once it sleeps, immediately build a wooden wall around it (a 6x6 should do it), plus a door. You will need to force your pawns to build it one at a time but thankfully, it's pretty small so it'll be done quick (no floors needed).

While the walls are being built, set a zone inside checking beer only, and uncheck beer from all your storages. Unpause and repause the game to let your changes apply then get a pawn to haul the beer in the area.

Finish building the wall and by the next morning, the Thrumbo will start drinking the beer on the ground shortly after it wakes up. After changes on how beer affects animals in A16, there are now various factors (primarily size) that are considered when downing an animal using beer. 12 beers should be enough to get a Thrumbo to a drunken state which makes their moving speed become "Very Poor". At this point, they can be easily kited by your pawns since they will be moving VERY very slowly. If you REALLY want to be safe, 30 beers should be enough to down them. While downed, just let your pawns wail on the poor thing for that sweet horn.

Once it's dead, enjoy you barely-earned Thrumbo horn!
Multiple Thrumbos
For multiple Thrumbos, you might need to do this one night for each unless they sleep very close to each other. Building too wide of a wall might take too long and the Thrumbos might end up waking up and escape before you can finish it.

Alternatively, you can build walls around both at the same time, deliver beer into one of the areas, delete that area and deliver the other beer on the other cage. Depending on how many Thrumbos and whether you are going for drunken or downed state, you will need 12 beers for drunken (in which you will need to kite it) or 30 beers for downed/hammered (they can't retaliate) per Thrumbo. This may take a lot of beer so make sure you have a hefty supply available.

Cheers! (no pun intended)

Side Note: A16 Changes to Beer and Animals (Applies to A17b as well)
As of A16, animal size (and other factors) now determines how much beer is needed to get an animal drunk. After experimenting for a few hours with 2 Thrumbos, the following is the result that I found:

The Thrumbos that I caged were aged 157 and 105. I wasn't sure if age played a factor with how much beer is needed, but with the amount of beers that I counted them chug each time their state changed, it seemed pretty consistent.

After 3 beers - Has the status of "Alcohol (Warm) - Whole Body"
After 8 beers - Has the status of "Alcohol (Tipsy) - Whole Body"
After 12 beers - Has the status of "Alcohol (Drunk) - Whole Body" - very slow movement
After 30 beers - Has the status of "Alcohol (Hammered) - Whole Body" - downed

Other factors that I discovered while doing the tests:
-After being downed, they eventually recover since they were downed due to being hammered, not through injury, so don't expect them to die on their own.
-After around 70-80 beers, they started to develop "Alcohol Tolerance (Small)" which reduced alcohol effects on them down to 85% effectiveness.
-After a few days of being caged and drinking nothing but beer, they receive a "Malnutrition" status and start breaking out of the wall. From what I can tell, they start looking for alternative food source other than the beer on the ground. If there was grass growing on the ground, they'll eat those instead, and possibly resume drinking after.
-After 100+ alcohol, they just plain decide to break out.

Conclusion: While the A16 update definitely changed things, it's only slightly more work to get the same result. The most efficient way is to get them drunk using 12 or so beers. Once they have the "drunk" status, they move incredibly slowly which makes killing them using ranged weapons very easy. Alternatively, 30 beers should get them on a downed state in which you can freely beat on them till they die. Anymore than 30 or so beers will be just a waste since the beer starts to have diminishing effects on them.

Cheers!

Tested this in A17, but should still work for A17b a.k.a. current patch as of July 13, 2017.

I usually shoot them with a fire launcher or molotovs, then shoot
Works surprisingly well since they always panic from being set on fire.

Just an FYI for anyone who wants to know, this works irl also if you are hunting. Just remember to take a sip yourself after a job well done.

if you have a wooden wall around them already, just build it double thick, chuck a molotov in and lock the doors :P
