Quick Overview

The default mouse and keyboard controls for Lost Planet 2 don't work well for a third person shooter. This guide suggests a layout that's closer to standard PC controls.

The configuration shown in this guide has no overlapping keys and is compatible with most (if not all) VS mech controls. This guide does not require a mouse with additional buttons.

Most keys can be adjusted to preference, but I highly recommend binding Action 1 to scroll wheel down. This makes it easier to capture beacons and do anything else that requires tapping the key repeatedly, and you can just roll the wheel back and forth if you don't bind anything to scroll wheel up. Extra useful if you have a mouse with a free-spinning scroll wheel.

Keep in mind that these keys also affect VS mech controls, mainly Grenade which also fires the
mech's right weapon.

Comment
Mouse Speed
Variable
Controls the mouse speed.
Mouse Sensitivity
32
Controls the mouse sensitivity, with 32 being the max and optimal value. Lower values cause the reticle to not respond to smaller movements.
Forward/Back/Left/Right
W/S/A/D
Walk
Alt
Not particularly useful; change according to preference.
Turn 90° Left/Right
Arrow Left/Arrow Right
Also controls helicopter altitude.
Shoot
Left Click
Also fires left VS weapon.
Grenade
Right Click
Also fires right VS weapon.
Crouch
C
Crouching is rarely useful, so it's better to use Ctrl to Evade (dodge roll). If you need to have crouch on Ctrl, you can Evade with Ctrl + Jump (spacebar).
Anchor
Wheel Click
You will need to hold this key to hang from the anchor. This may make it difficult to hang and shoot at the same time. As an alternative, swap scroll wheel click with Melee Attack (F) or Change Weapon (Q).
Melee Attack
F
Change Weapon
Q
Action 1
Wheel Down
Equivalent to the B/Circle button on gamepad. Using the mouse wheel is far easier than repeatedly tapping a key. Try rolling the wheel back and forth when capturing a beacon.
Action 2
E
Equivalent to the Y/Triangle button on gamepad. Used when picking up and swapping weapons.
Action 3
X
Equivalent to the X/Square button on gamepad. Used to repair and activate VS mechs.
Reload
R
Jump
Space
Emotes 1 ~ 8
F1 ~ F8
Focus Camera
1
Used during cinematic moments in some boss fights.
Night Vision
2
Hardly useful.
Use Harmonizer
Tab
Reload VS Left Weapon/Right Weapon
3/4
Zoom In
V
You can zoom with any weapon and it will reduce the amount of recoil applied to the camera. However, compensating for extra recoil is fairly easy when using a mouse to aim. Only really useful for sniper rifles.
Merged/Support Attack
G
Used to initiate the "support attack" while wielding a support weapon.
Evade
Ctrl
Keep in mind that changing evade to C to have crouch on Ctrl makes it difficult to roll to the right.
Dash
Shift
Drop Left Weapon/Right Weapon
O/P
Basically useless since you can drop your VS mech's weapons by holding Action 2 (E) and left or right clicking.
T-ENG Supplier
Z
Swaps your offhand item between grenade and T-ENG supplier.
VS Special Movement 1/2/3/4
T/Y/U/I
Rarely used.
VS Controls
Here is an example of what VS controls look like while using this key configuration.

Thanks!
Thanks for checking out my guide, and thank you to those who've given it an award! I'm glad people are finding my ideas useful and I'm happy to have helped an underrated co-op shooter become more accessible for the PC crowd.

Yeah, you´re right. Thank you very much. I was basically buttonmashing in the VS manual trying to do something and it was so annoying xD

By the way, I had added you because we maybe could play together if you like.

I haven't played in a while, but seem to remember that on foot controls are directly mapped to VS controls, so changing something in the controls section would change its related VS control, too.

How do you change the VS controls? Im sorry if its a dumb question but its all just so damn confusing on PC, I can only view them and view special functions but no matter where I click it wont let me edit it
