Guide for Russia (and some useful tips)
Par Edison YΛP et 2 collaborateur(s)
Note: This guide is only useful for players who play on vanilla servers. If you like modded servers(/kits, /tpa and other stuff), you are on your own, because I dislike people who want to have good loot at the start.

Hi there! So, are you annoyed of getting killed by zombies and other players, yes? Well, you came to the right place. I will share my experience and tips on this map, which may be helpful when you are playing on this map.

Welcome to Russia!
Russia is currently the largest official map prior to the 3.16.0.0 update. It's 4 times the size of all the other maps (PEI, Yukon and Washington).
1. Look for clothing and weapons
Every time you spawn in Russia, you will always be near a farm, campgrounds, or a small town. It is always important to find some clothes and a weapon to protect yourself from zombies. Also, make sure you crouch or prone when you are approaching a building (or tent), otherwise you will alert a nearby zombie and cause yourself trouble.
2. Know the zombies before you act
In the current version, there are 8 different types of zombies throughout the map. Namely, walkers, sprinters, crawlers, flamers, cloakers/flankers, spitters, deadzones and megas. They must be approached with caution whenever you are visiting a place.

Walker

These zombies are the most common in all of the maps. They deal quite a moderate amount of damage (10%) to players, and they have 100 HP. They walk faster than a player who does not have Exercise level 2-3.

Sprinter

These zombies are common in many areas, they deal lesser damage than normal (around half of the Walker's). They are very fast since they are in a crouched stance (run with both hands and legs). However, they are very weak so 1 headshot: melee or ranged, will kill them.

Crawler

The deadliest zombie: these zombies deal a lot of damage and will make you bleed when hit. They are very slow and have nearly twice the health of a walker zombie. It is recommended that ranged weapons are used to kill them instead.

Flamer

These zombie are visible with flames on them. They deal the same amount of damage as a normal zombie. However, when slain, they will explode in flames, setting the terrain around it on fire, and setting more normal zombies on fire (which means more flamers for you!). Killing them with melee is not recommended since you will take damage when you are near it, even in a vehicle.

Cloaker/Flanker
These zombies will turn into a nearly invisible purple figure when you are spotted. They will also try to flank the player so make sure you face at it when fighting them. They will be visible when performing an attack, and will turn back into the purple figure when moving. They are barely noticeable at night so keep your eyes peeled when fighting flankers.

Spitter

These zombies can be identified by the bight blue acid spewing out of its mouth. When attacking, they will spit acid at you after chasing for a certain distance. The acid will deal damage over time when walking/standing on it. So be sure that you stay away from the acid when fighting it.
Here are some pictures of bight blue acid glowing out of its mouth, and the pool of acid on the ground.

Mega zombie

The most dangerous and the biggest zombie you can find. These zombies are rare and can only be found in military areas. They have a lot of health and deal the most damage among all of the zombie types (30-40% + bleeding). They will also throw boulders at the player when they get too far, which will also deal high damage. While it depends on the weapon type used, the player will most probably need a large amount of ammunition to kill it. Before provoking/killing it, it is highly recommended to keep a safe distance as it will outrun a player easily.

Deadzone zombie
These zombies can only be found in deadzones in Russia and the other maps. They consist of all of the zombie types listed here. They will "explode" into a pile of green goo when killed, which will cause damage to players nearby. However, killing all of them will result in a looting spree, which you can get you high tier loot in most cases.
3. Never be Greedy
This sometimes refers to Kill On Sight (aka KOS), raiders, or aggressive players. Being greedy will never benefit nor help you become the best player in the game/server, which in most cases, will get you killed instead. To prevent this, use the 'surrender' gesture when approaching other players, only shoot when the player shoots at you first.
4. Stay away from Roads
Roads are one of the main cause players die. Players must be alerted when walking on roads, because you'll never know what will happen when doing so, either getting shot at or run over by a driving player. Make sure you stay away from the road and only cross the road when you have to.
5. Radiation and Deadzones
Gasmasks are useful in Russia, since there are a number of deadzones in the map (Silo-22, Rebel hideout and Oil Rig). They can only be found in Fire Stations and dropped by Firefighter zombies, same goes to filters which can replenish the gasmask. They can be found in both cities and Firewatch Base.

Before entering a deadzone for looting, it's highly recommended that you have at least 3-5 filters (or more) for your gasmask (not counting the gasmask's filter). Deadzones will irradiate you, from 100% until it reaches 0% of your infectivity meter. Proceed with extreme caution.

There are many ways to kill deadzone zombies, but we'll highlight some points to get you started in looting the deadzones:
  • Do not melee the zombies - Zombies will release their pile of goo all over your face when they die, and infect you whenever you are near them. It's advisable not to try and kill them with any sort of melee weapons.

  • Kill the zombies from their out of reach point - Zombies have their own limits to where they can traverse. You may also want to get on roofs to avoid possible contact with the green goo. Currently, it's the optimum method to kill the zombies for loot without getting irradiated or infected by their pile of green goo.

  • Only loot the area when clear - Before going for the loot, it's usually recommended to clear the area of zombies, because they are usually guarding the area or the surroundings. You don't want any trouble of dying and losing your hard-earned loot, skills or experience points. Additonally, loot the areas as much as you desire/possible, and be sure you don't leave/miss anything important.

6. Unnamed/Secret Locations
In Russia, there are serveral locations which are unnamed or secret. They are: Oil Rig, Sunken Attack Submarine, Rebel Base, Train cannon, Stonehenge and Junkyard.

Oil Rig
The Oil Rig is located at the bottom left of the map. The whole area is a deadzone and the only way to enter is by a helicopter, or building a loooong bridge and building upwards. There are a lot of deadzone zombies (hence, deadzone area) scattered around the area, which includes both landing pads. It is recommended to clear the helipads before landing (if travelling by air) and to move quickly. It is also recommended to bring along your friends and a lot of ammo (don't forget the gasmasks!) before entering. You can expect high-grade loot here, along with low-grade construction materials.

Sunken Attack Submarine
The Submarine is located at the bottom left of the map (below the Oil Rig). It's in a deadzone area so proceed with caution. There's a hole in the middle of the submarine where players can enter. The hole leads to the pantry whereas the control room and engine room are to the left, and the bunk room is to the right. You can get high-grade loot here.

Rebel hideout
The Rebel hideout is located at the right of Silo-22. It's a deadzone area and it does not spawn Mega Zombies. Similar to Holman Island in PEI, and Heritage Valley in Washington, this area holds Military-Grade loot only (e.g: Eaglefire, Peacemaker, Viper, Scopes and sights) at the bottom floor. It is recommended to wear a gasmask along with some filters is you want to loot the entire area.

Train Cannon
The Train Cannon is located at the left side of the map (and left of Zavod). This area contains some zombies and some Ranger-grade loot. There is a chance that a Mega Zombie will spawn at the end of the tunnel. Guns like the Zubeknakov and Augewehr rarely spawn here. In addition, according to Pavel's Notes (in Vorkuta Junction), the Train Cannon's name is Ivan.

Stonehenge
The Stonehenge is located below Tomsk Farm and top-right of Keryev. The boulders are seemingly surrounding a black-coloured, tombstone-like rock. There is no loot in this area so it could be a landmark for Russia. However, given that there are no zombies, it is a suitable location to build a base here.

Junkyard
The Junkyard is located between Yekativurg and Camp Oleksandr. This area will spawn vehicles, building materials and mechanic items. Mechanic zombies also spawn here so it is most likely a reference of a video game "Scrap Mechanic".
7. Don't Starve
Death by starvation is also an issue when you don't have enough food in your inventory. However, if you eat too much poisoned food (<50% condition), you will most likely be killed by infection. Here are some tips to prevent that:
  • Maximize your Survival skill. This skill will slow down your food and water meters ranging from 10%~50%, which means you can explore longer before needing to eat or drink.

  • Never eat food which is less than 50%. It is recommended to find fresh food instead of infected/rotten food because fresh food increases both meters more than infected food, without worrying about your infectivity meter.

  • Make a farm. Farming for vegetables is a great way to obtain food. You can find seeds and planters in a Botanist and in any Farm. However, waiting for the plants to grow would take a long while, so to speed things up, use fertilisers. It is recommended to maximize your Agriculture skill to increase the rate which plants grow, and to increase the chances of the plant yielding twice its standard drop (which is two fruits/vegetables per plant).

The ring is under the ship, near the woman. I think it might be right under the entrance.

I like the russia map, because the quests are very easy, but two of them are like impossible. The first one is where you need to find the wedding ring for a woman on the ship. The second one is for the doctor on the ship, where you have to find four capsules in the deadzone. Can somebody help me with that?

Often on russia (though it breaks the KoS rule in a way), kill ALL decked out players (players with ranger/millitray gear) who come into farmlands and extremely low tier civillian zones. These players are often aggressive, and also troll players. 1 or 2 Simple Headshots via a Schofeild or Hawkhound can easily kill these players, regardless of the headgear they're wearing. P.S. - Edison, if you actually say something that counters this statement, then u do not no da wae.... (90% of the time, high tier players will come to lesser areas to set up camps, knowing that they can cream newly spawned players, or to troll players. Yes, I've learned from experience.....). Now the #1 question you should ask is this "did you really have to type a long af comment?", and yes, I have to - no specified reason, but I do....

Pretty sure the scrap yard isn't a reference to Scrap Mechanic, just a place for people to disassemble cars and such.
