UPDATED FOR A16!!!

This mod changes the vanilla heat wave event to become more extreme. The max temperature range caused by the event is approximately 30% higher and it will grow hotter more quickly.

Along with other upcoming mods as well as my already released Realistic Darkness mod, I aim to progressively make the environment of the game considerably harder.

This mod WILL increase difficulty and is meant to be used with the other forthcoming mods to make an overall more hostile and challenging environment.


Important Notes:
  • This mod overwrites your vanilla heat wave event.

  • Should be safe to load/unload on any saves. If you unload the Hyperthermia mod DURING a heat wave it will throw a non-fatal error, and the temperature will revert to normal heat wave temperatures but will continue to work without further concern.

  • Makes the heat wave event approx 10% hotter.

  • This mod does NOT alter incident definitions and thus the length of the event is unchanged. The heat wave event length can be edited like normal from the core definitions, incident defs folder.

  • You may want to shorten the overall length of heat wave events if the cold increase is too drastic.

An Example:

In a desert biome, on the morning of the 1st of summer, with an ambient temperature of 70F:
Vanilla heat wave will reach its apex temp at approx 128F
Hyperthermia's modded heat wave will reach its apex temp at approx 152F

Let me know how it works out for everyone! With feedback I will adjust things. As time progresses I am more than likely to make this event a bit harsher after i've gotten a bit a feedback. I think 10% is'nt much but a good starting point.

Hi everyone! So I think this mod may be officially dead and obsolete. Taryn Winterblade just released a temperature mod that is basically my mod here on crack. Its 1000% better and I highly suggest you check it out at http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=948483652&searchtext=

Updated to A16! Total magnitude of amplification is from 20(f) [Vanilla] to 33(f) [Modded]. Inj laymens terms it makes the event deadly and you can see swings of 50+ degrees.

This mod is'nt supposed to be devastating alone as its meant to be used with the other forthcoming mods to make an overall more hostile and challenging environment for the more vegetated temperate forest and boreal forest biomes.

Interesting article Silveressa, thank you for that. Cell death beginning at 120Deg is pretty crazy but the colder side of things I expected.

I digress, back to the game. Heat waves and cold snaps are never pleasant but I never feared them. Even with this and the cold snap mod enabled I don't fully fear them but I find myself making more effort to guard against it and mildly panic when it comes.
